Having delved into the new data in our members section to assess Alan Pardew’s impact on Crystal Palace, we make our way to the Midlands to see how Tony Pulis is shaping up as the new man in charge at West Brom.

With three clean sheets in five matches – compared to six in the opening 20 Gameweeks – Pulis has helped his new side register two wins and a couple of draws, with only a home loss to in-form Tottenham dashing our Fantasy faith. In terms of personnel, we’ve seen Andre Wisdom shuffled onto the Baggies bench, with Chris Brunt utilised as a left-back and record signing Brown Ideye finally finding his form. Similarly, Saido Berahino, with seven goals in eight appearances in all competitions, has been transformed in recent weeks after falling out of Alan Irvine’s first-team plans. As the Midlands side brace themselves for some kind upcoming fixtures, we cast an eye over the numbers for signs of the so-called β€œPulis effect”.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Which striker should I choose for the medium term?

    The Captaincy debate.

    1) Hazard

    + Penalties
    + Almost always a 90 minute man
+ Burnley have conceded 2+ in 9 of their last 10 away games
    - No goals in his last 4 home games
    - 6 attempts at goal in his last 4 home games

    2) Aguero

    + Penalties
    + 4 goals/2 assists in 6 apps vs Newcastle
+ Newcastle have conceded 14 goals in 5 away matches vs the rest of the top 6
    - 1 goal in his last 4 home matches(excluding Everton)
    - At risk of a sub in the 2nd half, to be wrapped in cotton wool ahead of Barcelona tie

    3) Kane

+ Likely to be on Penalties
+ Superb form, scoring in 5 of his last 6 matches, with maximum bonus in each of his last 3
+ Central defensive injury concerns for West Ham
    - West Ham haven't conceded more than two in any away game this season
    - Spurs generally display indifferent form directly after Europa league games

Feel free to give your reasons for/against each and state who you'll be captaining. I've just chosen the three most popular picks, but you can give reasons in support of or against the likes of Costa and Sanchez too...

Well Liverpool and Chelsea opened them up with ease, they conceded against SUN at home and we're lucky to get a smash and grab v Soton, underlying defensive stats are terrible and United don't have problems scoring goals , all the negatives that Demi mentioned above are genuine reasons to not be 100% with the 3 players mentioned, plus I took a -4 to get RVP for Defoe with mostly next week in mind but I'm quietly confident this week , a deal is a deal a promise I won't go back on my word now too πŸ™‚

The only real problem with Costa is his 8 YC's and the fact that MOST on here don't have him. So it'd be a big hassle to bring him while most already have 3 blank players, and many would be forced to subsequently either bench him and sell another blank player, or sell Costa before the blank.

In theory, you can argue that captaining Costa over other just as good options but in a sense you can see him a as operating on a hit(-4), since he does add a blank player and it might leave you in a situation in which you have to use an extra hit to get a DGW player in or to take a blank player out.

Theory aside, it does leave many in an uncomfortable position as the main focus for most is to concentrate on the DGW and blank, especially as (like you showed) three very good captaincy option this week and the gamble may be nullified with just as likely goal scorers this week.

Even stranger, Pelle has second most with 13.

The advantage of being subbed off early more often than defenders and goalkeepers!

      Hazard..

Because with Costa back in the Fray, Hazard's home performance is very much likely to get better against Burnley.

I'm all about Aguero (c) this week.

My worry about Hazard, is that since he didn't properly train before the CL game this week and getting fouled pretty continuously that he is inline for a rest (or at least a bench spot). Maybe the injury to Willian might keep him on the pitch.
My worry about Kane is that he will likely be prominent tonight and the break between games will be just that little bit too short for the entire Tottenham squad.

Pretty sure Kun has had a full run out ahead of all previous UCL ties, including the crucial Bayern game. He has a lot more goals than Haz in less minutes, and I can too easily see Hazard blanking even in a big Chelsea win.

        That's simply not true though

        This season:

        67 72 90 84 90

        Last season:

        27(came on as sub) 82 90 69 90 90(fa cup)

Most of the matches he played 90 in were the games in which City were drawing, losing or winning by 1. You would expect them to win comfortably at home to Newcastle, against whom they've not so much as conceded a goal in their last 4 meetings and not lost any 16 PL fixtures.

      1.Depends on your position .
2.nothing winds up a defender more than telling him exactly what you are going to do the next time you get the ball and actually doing it completely mugging him off

      1. Do some fitness work, I'd recommend sprints.
      2. Focus on doing the basics well and your own performance. I wouldn't be getting too focused on winding up opposition it suggests a lack of focus on the match. You playing well whatever your position could do that.

Depends on the type of player you are. I was always very vocal to my teammates and opposition alike. Talked alot of smack to strikers in an attempt to throw them off their game but it was very calculated. I guess you can say, I asked for it at times. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not so much.

This does work. I did this alot as a defender. Go as if you are going to make a hard challenge and back off at the last second only to see their touch fail them purely because of my presence. A pump fake if you will.

I have, had a few laughs at it. You can make the argument about being comfortable with yourself etc. which is fine but I don't quite think it's about that. Regardless of sexuality, and regardless of the gender of the person doing it, if I was standing around and some random person kissed the back of my neck I'd be a bit thrown, even momentarily. It is just something you don't expect.

You have Kane, Terry and Hazard that you'll need to bench in GW27 (blanks), so I'd sort out your bench.

I'd sell Wisdom and Baird (both out of favour), and keep an eye on whether Jones will be fit.

You can get almost whoever you want with lots of money in the bank, but the better cheaper options are Naughton, Wolly (Stoke), PvA, West Brom defender, Haidara, Hutton and the best, imo, Alderweirld. Whichever you fancy.

Wisdom definitely not as he already fell a few days ago and NTO per hour is very low,
Defoe is going down by (-0.33%), unlikely to fall before the GW starts and same for Wisdom (-0.21%)

      A striker isn't he?

Will he even play over Sakho/Valencia?

I thought he'd just be a backup with Carroll dead.

Just Hazard for the mean time, Zouma is my other Chelsea. May get Costa after the DGW, have to see how Sturridge plays before then though as I have him for now

Aye, cheers. Was thinking more in the lines between Gw30 and 31 as Pool have
(MUN, ars) and Chelsea have (hul, STO), and the DGW still in works if it's not scheduled in the near future. Good points though Dr.A, will keep Sturridge for now

He is subject to form like all players, but he is certainly first choice.

Gabriel is no threat. He is a centre back, barely speaks English, and really isn't good enough going forward to play as a full back for us.

Chambers is a threat, but Bellerin is performing at a level higher than Chambers has managed at Arsenal, and in the last game Chambers was very poor.

I got rid of Wisdom yesterday, brought in Wolsheid. Also keen on bringing back Bertrand (from PVA or Wasilewski), though already have Clyne. Need to get some funds for that move though.

Well, as long as the player you replace him with starts you are effectively getting rid of him for -2. I'd definitely replace him.

Thoughts on Demba Ba tomorrow? 365 have priced him up at 9/1 FGS which seems decent value to me. I think he could cause Liverpool plenty of problems, despite their recent good defensive form.

Also eyeing up the 25/1 for two or more and 100/1 on the hattie πŸ˜€
