Nikica Jelavic faces a spell on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery. West Brom have worries over their front two for the trip to City. QPR have concerns in defence ahead of Everton’s visit. Eljero Elia is available for Southampton’s home clash with Burnley, whilst Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha are both still doubtful as Palace pay visit to Stoke.

Hull’s hopes for survival have been rocked with confirmation that Nikica Jelavic faces a minimum of six weeks on the sidelines after successfully undergoing knee surgery. Steve Bruce has also revealed that Liam Rosenior, James Chester, Mo Diame and Robbie Brady returned to training yesterday but the weekend clash against Chelsea is likely to come too soon.

Garry Monk welcomes back Federico Fernandez for the trip to Villa, with the Argentine returning to the squad after missing out against Liverpool for family reasons.

Villa, meanwhile, remain without Ron Vlaar due to a calf problem, with Tim Sherwood confirming there is no change to the injury situation following last week’s victory.

Crystal Palace remain without Marouane Chamakh for the trip to Stoke, with the Moroccan struggling to overcome a hamstring injury. Alan Pardew is also sweating on the status of Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha, after both were forced off with knocks in the win over QPR. The pair faces late fitness tests, with Pardew confirming that they would be back in time for Gameweek 31, if not on Saturday.

Chris Ramsey has revealed that Mauricio Isla (knee) will be assessed ahead of the weekend visit of Everton, while youngster Darnell Furlong remains a doubt with a calf injury. Meanwhile, Ramsey remains hopeful that Rio Ferdinand will be fit to return to the squad against the Toffees.

Nigel Pearson will again be without the services of Dean Hammond who is battling a calf injury, while Anthony Knockaert remains unavailable for selection due to personal reasons. Kasper Schmeichel is “under consideration” for a start between the sticks, after stepping up his fitness with an outing for the U21’s earlier this week.

Eljero Elia is fit to return to the squad at the weekend after overcoming an ankle problem, with Ronald Koeman confirming that the Saints have no fresh injury concerns.

Arsenal’s Tomas Rosicky could be set to return for the trip to Newcastle after missing last weekend through illness. Elsewhere, Arsene Wenger concedes that long-term injury absentees Mathieu Debuchy and Mikel Arteta are still at least three weeks away from a return to action.

West Brom have doubts over front two Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye for the trip to City, whilst Jonas Olsson is also a worry due to calf and ankle problems.

John Carver faces a defender crisis as Newcastle square up against Arsenal, after confirming that Massadio Haidara remains sidelined for the weekend. The Newcastle boss also revealed that resources are stretched, with only 13 fit senior player and two goalkeepers available for selection this weekend.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Morning all.. Been doing some thinking on Defence until the season end..

    Current defence is as follows:
    ...........................Panti.. 4.0........................
    Bellerin // Dawson // Wollscheld // PVA // Jones

I have the funds for Jones & TO BE CONFIRMED -----> Ivanovic and Toby (free)
As everyone seems to have CHE and SOT defenders I thought it was worth looking the the final gameweeks..

    GW 30: Ivanovic // Toby // Bellerin
    GW 31: Ivanovic // Toby // Dawson
    GW 32: Ivanovic // Toby // Dawson
    GW 33: Ivanovic // Toby // Wollscheld
    GW 34: Ivanovic // Toby // Wollscheld
GW 35: Ivanovic // Toby // Bellerin (Wollscheld)
GW 36: Ivanovic // Toby // Bellerin (Wollscheld)
GW 37: Ivanovic // Toby // Wollscheld (or DGW def)
    GW 38: Ivanovic // Toby // Wollscheld

I guess my issue is that aside from this weekend I will only want Bellerin twice and Debuchy will be back by then.. Therefore do I transfer PVA or Bellerin to Toby this week as the TO BE CONFIRMED above?

You want Bellerin though. You dont want PVA a all it seems. so ditch PVA. Who knows maybe Debuchy will have a set back

though ditching Bellerin could be handy if you want to free up that 3rd arsenal spot for the DGW

I don't get this "differential captain" stuff. Captain who you think will score the most points. Whether he is a popular pick or not.

Often the best captain picks are "differentials" because most of the top 10k are over-cautious. That's why the captain poll on here is of little use. People vote for who they will captain. They don't consider players they don't have in their squads.

    A. GW30 Sterling to Mane, GW31 Ozil to Hazard.
    B. GW30 Sterling to Hazard.
    C. Keep Sterling and have 2FT next week.

Lads, got a bit of a dilemma as I bought Austin 2 weeks ago for the double instead of keeping Giroud. What route do I follow to get the best out of this week?

    A)
    Aguero ➡ Giroud this week
    Giroud ➡ Benteke/Agbonlahor next week

    B)
Keep Aguero. Do Sterling ➡ Mane this week
    Aguero ➡ Benteke/Agbonlahor next week.

Sanchez > Walcott for me this week. Walcott loves Newcastle, then rest and sharpness work for Liverpool while other players are on international duty.

Extra money buys a better 5th mid for GW33.

As did I plus he won me my ML by 1 pt a couple of years back with a goal or assist, so I've definitely got a weak spot for having him in my team.

Looking towards GW31 - I can do the following with 0.1 left over for a hit:

Downing > Phillips and Kane > Benteke : Spurs away at Burnley screams poor performance to me so seems low risk - I'd probably switch Kane and Benteke back for the following gw.

Who else is in your team? I really don't think getting rid of Kane is a great move as he is sooooo cheap for what he does.

As someone who brought in Phillips for the last double and still has him as a 5th mid I highly recommend getting him.... Just too bad all the points he is scoring are going to my bench!

      Bellerin > Aldy
      Sterling > Hazard

Looking to load up on teams that still have to play Leicester mainly.

I hope it goes well for you!

Playing at home in the 2nd leg being an advantage is such a myth. Makes no difference imo.

2 finalists last season were both at home 1st leg. PSG were at home 1st leg vs Chelsea

      Disagree.

We would have definitely beaten Monaco if we weren't at such a massive disadvantage.

Those with Panti or Foster, aren't you getting Guzan this week?

Or does the Tim Sherwood gung-ho factor mean this is a no-no.

I'm expecting us (Villa) to get a couple of hammerings before the end of the season and with the fixtures about to turn I wouldn't be recommending any of our defensive players.

        Spoken like true Villian 😉

I can't see clean sheets but I can't see hammerings, either, and that's because the players' confidence is on the up now.

Haha. I think we're just quite open at the moment. A good attacking team, particularly one with decent wide players, will get a lot of chances against us. I might be being overly pessimistic but that's what we've become accustomed to!

I have both and will keep Panti this week to see his situation under new manager.

      Go from there...

Atletico Madrid's record vs Real Madrid this season:

    Played 6
    Won 4
    Drawn 2
    Lost 0
    Goals 12
    Conceded 4

    Great run!

Still reeling from last week's disaster, any suggestions?

    Myhill, Foster
    Terry, Clyne, Naughton, Wollscheid, PVA
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Lucas
    Aguero, Kane, Austin

    2 FT, 2.0 ITB

Very similar to mine below, except you have 2.0 spare. Would upgrade PVA if I were you.

I'm planning on it. Going to go for Scott Sinclair, I don't know the stats but from watching us play he always seems to be quite high up the pitch.

No idea what to do with this, any ideas?

    Foster Krul
    Terry Bertrand Wollscheid (Naughton PvA)
    Hazard Sanchez Silva Eriksen (Boyd)
    Aguero Kane Austin
    2FT 0.1 itb

All I can think of is Foster > Guzan to get him for the double (and play this week), but even with the double I'm not sure I want a Villa keeper...

Other thought is Bertrand > Toby just to generate some cash and not waste the FT.

    Any other suggestions?
