With the last international break of the season now behind us, our Friday lunchtime analysis of the PlayON Player Price List arrives once again. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON are now running a number of different deadlines so Fantasy managers can have as much benefit of seeing teamsheets as possible. Tomorrow, for example, managers can pick teams for the weekly game (which includes all ten matches on Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and the single match game (for the Arsenal versus Liverpool match) up to 12.45.

Managers can pick teams for all the 15.00 & 17.30 kick-offs up to 15.00 tomorrow. Their Daily game on Sunday, which includes two matches, has a deadline of 13.30. There’s free entry tournaments and guaranteed pots in all games so plenty for Fantasy managers to take advantage of – you can pick up to three different teams for each game now at www.PlayON.co

Goalkeepers – Boaz Myhill
A season-ending injury to Ben Foster brings the Welshman onto the radar as a bargain route into West Brom’s defence. Priced at just 5.5m, Myhill ended the previous Gameweek as the top scoring goalkeeper in PlayON by almost 1000 points due to a 2600 point haul away to City – despite conceding three times, he registered 13 saves at the Etihad. The Baggies have four clean sheets in five matches at the Hawthorns under Tony Pulis and welcome a QPR side that have struggled for results away from Loftus Road, suggesting Myhill –who is owned by 23% of PlayON managers – could bring home the points again. For those willing to spend a bit more between the posts, we’ve gone for David De Gea (8.0m). The 12%-owned Spaniard has conceded just once in four matches, with three consecutive shut-outs before Daniel Sturridge’s strike at Anfield, and Man United host an Aston Villa side that have scored a single goal in their last three visits to Old Trafford.

Defenders – Kyle Naughton
Swansea will fancy their chances of a clean sheet this weekend, bearing in mind that visitors Hull side have only found the net once in five away matches. Available for 6.2m in PlayON this week, Naughton (26% ownership) is the cheapest route into a backline that have already registered 11 shut-outs this term. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea have also been less resilient than usual at home, conceding in three of their last four. Branislav Ivanovic (21% owned) requires a considerable outlay of 9.5m but the right-back does offer potential at both ends of the pitch and has served up a goal and an assist over the last two in front of his own fans. The Blues welcome a Stoke side that has failed to score in each of their last seven visits to the Bridge and arrive on the back of successive losses to West Brom and Palace.

Midfielders – Marouane Fellaini
Juan Mata’s man of the match performance at Anfield has brought the Spaniard onto our radars but at 11.6m, he’s a little too pricey for our liking. Coming in at just 8.4m for the visit of Villa, Fellaini appears to be a safer option. Serving up a goal and an assist in his last home appearance, the Belgian continued his form with three strikes over the international break and his role in the central midfield three should also see the 28%-owned benefit from the PlayON scoring matrix, which favours defensive contributions. With Sergio Aguero still struggling for form, we’ve turned to David Silva (13.2m, 31% owned) for Man City’s trip to Crystal Palace. The Spaniard scored against West Brom in the previous Gameweek and his tally of seven shots on target (worth 200 points in PlayON) in three matches is indicative of his flourishing displays for the champions.

Forwards –Saido Berahino
Passed fit by Tony Pulis earlier today, the Baggies striker has three goals in six for the Baggies and clearly favours home comforts, with 15 of his 18 goals in the league and cup arriving at the Hawthorns. West Brom host a QPR side that have conceded at least twice in all but two of their 14 away trips, suggesting that Berahino (8.8m, 2% ownership) could be set to extend his impressive home record. Harry Kane (8.6m) is unsurprisingly the most popular player in PlayON with over 52% of teams so far including the Englishman after he took his tally to 14 goals in 11 matches with a hat-trick against Leicester. Kane pays visit to a Burnley side with a single shut-out in the last 14 Gameweeks and looks poised to continue his remarkable breakthrough season.

Head over to www.PlayON.co to get your teams in for the free entry and guaranteed pot games.

Need some help lads. 2FT and £1.4m in the bank. Ideas for this week, and what to do with Austin next week after the DGW? I have my WC that I plan to use in GW34.

    Myhill
    Bellerin Clichy Ivanovic
    Hazard Eriksen Silva Cazorla
    Kane Austin Aguero

Bench - (Foster) Clyne, Ameobi, Dawson

    My options:

    A. Clichy>Naughton
    Caz>Siggy this week
    then:
Austin>Costa next week (exact money only if Austin rises!)

    B. Bellerin>Naughton and then reasses next week with 2FT

    Thoughts?

I really don't understand all the love for Austin.

QPR are rubbish on the road, and they're playing MUN & AST away.

I hope all my competition bring him in and he doesn't do a damn thing.

I refused to jump on this Austin bandwagon... so I've jumped on the Mata bandwagon instead.

    Eriksen > Mata

    Bellerin Terry Clyne

Worth doing Walters > Sinclair and benching Mane or do I save the transfer and start Mane?

Don't think Sinclair will do much against ManU but home game to QPR looks interesting. There is a risk that he may not start both and if he only plays against ManU then it'll be a waste right?

Owners of Giroud. What are you doing with him on the blank? It was my intention to bench him but I have now had the idea to switch him to Costa ready for the doubles. I need to lose Sanchez though in order to afford this.

    Which is better?

    A) GW 31 Sanchez to Silva, GW 33 Giroud to Costa
    B) GW 31 Eriksen to Silva GW 33 Aguero to Costa (bench Giroud and Sanchez and play Naughton and Puncheon in a 442)

Southampton's hopes of signing on-loan defender Toby Alderweireld on a permanent basis have suffered a blow after Atletico Madrid expressed their intention to utilise the Belgium international next term.

He was loaned out last summer to Southampton, where he has been a key figure under Ronald Koeman. Atletico’s sporting director Jose Luis Caminero says the Spanish capital will be counting on the 26-year-old at the Calderon next year.

He told the club’s official website: “Indeed, our coaches follow a detailed monitoring of all the players that are loaned to other teams. We are very pleased with their performance and growth in general. Oliver and Alderweireld, for example, are finishing a very good season with Porto and Southampton and we are counting on them for the next campaign.”

That'd be disappointing for the Saints if they can't keep hold of him.

They might be trying to maximise their profits. We can't sell Toby he is essential to our plans (for anything less than double what we think he is worth )

Absolutely, the problem is I don't know if Southampton will have the money that they may ask for. I could see AM selling him, but possibly not to the Saints (he seems quite open to moving to a bigger club as well).

100% it is. They could use him, they could sell him. Issue is that no matter what, I think, he won't wind up at Southampton next season. He is apparently open to moving to bigger teams, AM may charge a fortune for him etc.

      3. Ruth_NZ
        • 11 Years

Yes and no, it's a bit more convoluted than that.

Southampton have the right to buy Alderweireld for £6.8m at the end of the season unless AM pay them £1.5m to negate that clause in the loan agreement.

As Alderweireld's value is now better than £6.8m and other clubs are interested (including Spurs apparently) it appears that AM are going to pay the £1.5m to enable them to either keep him or realise a better fee. I guess his current value is £10-12m (Transfermarkt says £9.7m).

My best guess is he ends up at either Southampton (if they agree to pay more) or Spurs (Alderweireld has said he'd enjoy playing alongside his international teammate Vertonghen).
