Hugo Lloris is ruled out of Spurs’ trip to Burnley. Danny Welbeck has “a little chance” of making Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool, who welcomed back Daniel Sturridge to full training yesterday. Romelu Lukaku is rated as “50-50” ahead of the visit of Southampton, West Ham welcome back Winston Reid in defence, whilst City boast a clean bill of health for their Monday evening trip to Palace.

Danny Welbeck has ”a little chance” of recovering from a knee injury in time for Arsenal’s home clash with Liverpool. Arsene Wenger has ruled out a return for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who remains troubled by a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy, Abou Diaby and Jack Wilshere are back in training – the weekend will come too soon for the first three, with Wenger uncertain over Wilshere’s availability.

Tim Sherwood has received a boost ahead of Villa’s trip to Old Trafford, with Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos, Tom Cleverley and Joe Cole all returning to training. Cleverley is ineligible to face his parent club, while Sherwood will assess the other three’s fitness before the weekend.

Everton have mixed news in attack with Arouna Kone available after returning to training, while strike partner Romelu Lukaku is rated as 50-50 and faces a fitness test to determine his availability. Fellow Belgian Kevin Mirallas is also set to be assessed ahead of the weekend, along with Darron Gibson and Steven Pienaar. Tony Hibbert and Bryan Oviedo are both ruled out through injury.

Steve Bruce has confirmed that both James Chester and Mo Diame are back in contention for Hull as they prepare to face Swansea, whilst Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez has also trained and is fit to play after recovering from a hamstring problem sustained on international duties.

Foxes defender Matt Upson has been ruled out of the weekend visit of West Ham after failing to recover from an Achilles problem and joins injured pair Dean Hammond and Zoumana Bakayogo on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Nigel Pearson has Liam Moore available for selection once again, with the defender returning from his loan spell with Brentford.

Brendan Rodgers is optimistic that England pair Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana will be available to face Arsenal, following their struggles with hip and groin injuries respectively. Sturridge made a return to full training yesterday, while Rodgers is hopeful that Lallana will be able to join the group today, ahead of the weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed City have no injury worries for the trip to Palace. Yaya Toure has recovered from the Achilles problem that forced him to miss the win over west Brom, whilst James Milner is also available after skipping England duties with a knee complaint.

QPR’s on-loan forward Mauro Zarate has returned to parent club West Ham to receive treatment on an injury. In yesterday morning’s press conference, Chris Ramsey revealed he was still waiting on Yun Suk-Young to return from international duties before assessing the left-back’s fitness.

Mark Hughes believes Jon Walters will be fit for Stoke despite picking up a calf knock in training, while Marc Muniesa, Philipp Wollscheid, Erik Pieters and Stephen Ireland are also back fit and available.

Garry Monk has ruled Tom Carroll out of the weekend through injury, while winger Jefferson Montero will be assessed after pulling up with a muscle strain on international duty. Elsewhere, Kyle Bartley and Leon Britton are available for Saturday, having overcome knee and back injuries respectively.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Hugo Lloris will miss the trip to Turf Moor with the leg injury sustained against Leicester, while Roberto Soldado remains a concern with a knee injury.

Sam Allardyce is set to welcome back Winston Reid for the trip to Leicester, with the defender having made a return to training. Elsewhere, the Hammers boss concedes that Enner Valencia is likely to miss out once more despite returning to light training after stepping up his recovery from a toe injury.

Newcastle boss John Carver welcomes back Mehdi Abeid to the squad, though the Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland comes “too soon” for Rolando Aarons, as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that Steven Davis is doubtful for the trip to Goodison Park with a groin problem. There is more positive news on long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez, with Koeman suggesting the forward could be fully fit in four-to-five weeks after stepping up his recovery.

Earlier this morning, Tony Pulis confirmed that Ben Foster and Callum McManaman are the only absentees for West Brom’s home clash with QPR.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

One for the fantasy football veterans: Do you remember anyone from the first ever team you started with?
For some reason i remember i had Frédéric Kanouté in my initial squad.
Was in his WHU days, guess most likely 2001, but could have been 2002.
This was before i played the FPL game (when was the first year that started?), was either the old BBC or C4 one. (i forget which - the game changed website, it may have been it started on C4 site, and then went to BBC)
It was more simple than the FPL game (no bench, no bonus pts, etc), and i don't think that Kanouté did that well for me; probably only lasted a few weeks before being shipped out.

Only been playing 5 years but I remember having Drogba (c) first season and Malouda. Think they scored or were involved in 5 goals between them.

      Happy days

Drogba perma-banned for me, never owned him, and never will!
Used to have Malouda a bit in his time over here though.

Still remember a long ago season when Laurent Robert was in my team and scored 2 goals and got 2 assists in the same game - no idea why that or the Kanouté thing sticks in my head though!

I used to get some right old stick for it. I was the only Blackburn fan amongst a load of pretend United and Liverpool fans. They all declared that the Rovers were rubbish and wouldn't have them in their teams. They dug a hole for themselves.

Crickey, you had him back in the days when he was at Rovers? - that was some old school FF then!

He was locked into my team in his Newcastle days.
Every time they were awarded a penalty, i simply knew it was a goal for my team, don't think i've ever been so confident about one of my players ability to score from the spot.

The first fantasy football game was nearly 25 years ago, and was based on all four divisions. Mini leagues were based on auction bidding for players ( a player could only play for one fantasy team).

I remember blowing 50% of my budget on Robbie Fowler of Liverpool, and balanced the books with Tony Ellis of Preston. Ellis scored 35 goals that season.

I remember you could do transfer someone out of your team who had played on Saturday, to bring in someone who had yet to play on Sunday...i didn't have an internet connection at home back then, so once or twice i actually drove to work just to do that transfer tactic so that i could get an extra player playing that week!

The first online game I played was the Football365 game. I seem to remember that you could only make one transfer/month.

The only player I can remember having was Ronaldo.

Think I've slipped up a bit this week. Transferred Davis in last night for Foster even though I'm benching him.

Does give me the last little bit of money I need to do Austin to Costa next week but probably should have waited to see next week and saved a transfer this week.

Which is worse, deciding against doing a transfer or getting rid of a player who goes on to score well? For me it's definitely the latter.

Thinking of doing either or both of:-
Sanchez -- Mata or Giroud -- Benteke(c) but am fearful the Arsenal lads will score well.

    @Demi

City's last away clean sheet in the league was on the 14th of December against Leicester. I'd say there's a very, very slim chance of them keeping a clean sheet away at Old Trafford, especially since it's a derby. It's definitely not a favourable fixture to be playing your defenders against, but I don't really have much of a problem playing an attacker against City, especially if it's someone of Mata's calibre.

I currently have the front 3 of Aguero, Costa and Kane however I am 43 pts behind the leader of my cash ML and he has got Giroud, Kane, Costa as his front 3

however I am trying to cut his lead by bringing in Benteke as my DGWer

but my dilemma is who should I take out for Benteke

    Costa or Aguero

I'm thinking Costa at the mo because I have a feeling that Jose will rest him against Stoke and QPR
and then by him back in time for GW33

Any ideas about this plan would be appreciated

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

With 8 gameweeks left what are you realistically playing for and how does that compare with your pre-season ambition?

For me I'd like to finish in the top 1,000. That's about it. I've pretty much won my two cash mini-leagues and overtaking Greenwindmill in the FFScout Mods and Contribs league looks pretty impossible.

Is it rank, mini league glory or the fun of it that is driving you on as the season enters its twilight?

To save some pride. I have spent the last 9 weeks hovering in the 100k - 200k region, even really big scores have only marginally improved my rank. This season has been a catastrophe but I still think there's a lot of time to make significant ground, which I need to do.

My ultimate aim is to win my ML (which consists of people I work with). I'm currently top by over 100 points, but my main rival has cut my lead considerably since the turn of the year. Top 10k would be nice, but I wouldn't be that bothered if I missed it.

The goal is the same as every season: to make it through to the end without giving up. The last two weeks have been very hard and I even had to check to see who my 5th. defender was the other day, such is my waning interest at the moment.
No more breaks now so it should be plain sailing.

Top 1,000 would be the target but it's really difficult.

im in the top 50k. Hopefully can get to top 25k as a realistic target.

Top 1k is best I can hope for, though like others, staying in the top 10k isn't a given.

Preseason I wanted to finish in top 20 and had a chance of winning it - and yes I'm grimmacing as I write that - setting very high goals in 2nd season is only likely to go one way.

Made so many mistakes this year, but it's all learning experience.

Been in top 10k and higher since gw2 but it's felt like losing most of the time.

I'm already at personal best, so I aim to stay inside top 1k. MLs are done like always, Top 100 or to win Malaysia would be an added bonus.

And of course, to help Team Ireland towards FFS CWC glory

Aim is to finish within 10K. But thatt'll be really hard as I am at 27K now, and a 35 point deficit to make up in 8 weeks, but will still chase.

In ML, I have two, one is of my college and the other is of our locality and I am atop both of them with margins of 93 and 76 points respectively from my nearest rivals, so comfortably placed in them and that's about it.

This is my first season, and truth is, I did not have any pre-season ambition whatsoever!
However, my mid-season aim was to finish in the TOP 10K 🙂

      1. Better than last year OR (not hard; had a shocker last year)
      2. PB OR (which would mean top 20k; probably not going to happen)
      3. Win both mini leagues (1st in one, 30 points down in another. Do-able)

Playing to win one of my mini-league's for the 3rd time, my bro has 2 titles and 3 other people have a single title.

I'm hoping to win (49 points clear at the moment) and retire as champion (with the belt/title) and take a year off fantasy football.

Then, whoever wins the next year, it won't count as much. Pretty evil.

Who is having captain issues. My head says Austin, but heart hazard. Anyone know sustains stats away from home. If the fixtures were home it would make it easier! so many captain choices. What are people thinking?

I currently have it on Austin, but I'm really tempted on Kane (mainly because my ML rival will almost definitely go with Kane which means I could lose out big time if he goes crazy again).

Ye I know the feeling Kane has hurt me a lot recently. Aguero is due as well and then haz has been on fire. Austin appeals as you should be guaranteed 4 points. But if one of the big hitters go mad it will hurt badly

I'll captain Austin because QPR need goals. Plus Austin did score a hattrick against WBR last time iirc?
If Costa is uncertain then Haz is a fine choice.

    Current team

    Green
    Clyne / Ivanovic / Naughton
    Ozil / Hazard / Silva / Eriksen
    Austin / Aguero / Kane

    Myhill / Phillips / Rose / Dawson

    1FT, 0.3 itb

I would really like to get rid of Ozil, should I just bench him for Phillips this week, or move him on for someone like Mata or Mane?
