The Sun Dream Team became the latest Fantasy game to throw open it’s doors, having released alongside the Fantasy Premier League on Thursday.

Quite simply, Dream Team is the season-long game to play if you want to win some big money. This term they’ve gone and put up a cool £1 million prize fund, with £200,000 available to the overall winner. Overall, they are promising 100 winners a week, 500 a month and 7,000 across the season. That’s a lot of winners with a lot of cash fluttering about.

This season the game is free to play, although the generous cash prizes are only available to those who later sign up to the Club Dream Team – that will eventually set you back £2.99 a month or £7.99 for three months; both options will be available in October but, initially, you’ll be in the “Club” for free.

There are a whole string of benefits to eventually signing up, including more competitions, advanced statistics and the fact you’ll get to set up six teams, increasing your chances of claiming one of the many prizes.

Aside from the huge cash pot on offer, Dream Team is a very different beast to your average Fantasy offering. It can be a more casual, “hands off†game, with stronger emphasis placed on your initial starting XI – after this, Fantasy managers are pressed into action during four Transfer Windows, although, as you’ll see this has been expanded somewhat with this season’s rule changes.

The other key attraction is that domestic cups and European competitions are included. This can hold your interest when games like the Fantasy Premier League and Sky Sports take a break; suddenly the midweek Europa League and Capital One Cup have some meaning.

On top of this, Dream Team has a weekly game offering and this season introduces more competitions for those who join Club Dream Team – a weekly 32-team knockout cup and a mini-league knockout cup. You won’t be surprised to hear that both offer cash prizes. Dream Team have also brought back the popular Manager of the Month contests, with the top 100 managers all qualifying for prizes.

THE RULESET

Dream Team have been brave enough to implement some key rule changes this season – with assists finally making an appearance in the game.

Two points are awarded for each assist earned, although this is somewhat balanced out for midfielders who have lost the two points previously earned for keeping a clean sheet. For defenders and strikers, however, the assists are now extra points in the bank which is something to consider when selecting your squad.

Elsewhere, while Dream Team has retained the three points earned for a 7+ rating in any given match, they’ve done away with their controversial “reporter in the stands” approach and adopted an Opta driven algorithm solution, much like the FPL’s Bonus System, to award the ratings. This system is also being used to assign the Star Man awards which return five points.

Crucially, this change allows the game to be more dynamic and Club Dream Team members will now get live scores during match days with your full points tallies available on the final whistle. A big win.

The other major change is that we now have five Emergency Transfers at our disposal. Dream Team introduced two of these transfers last season, enabling trades between the Transfer Windows. We now have one Emergency Transfer in every period before each Window. These can be used to repair our lineups after injury or suspension, or used tactically.

The rest is as you were…

Each team must include 11 players with a budget of £50 million to spend. The teams can be laid out in one of two formations – a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

Players accumulate points from matches in the Capital One and FA Cups and also in Europe, with Champions League and Europa League matches contributing. Straight away, then, it’s clear that avoiding rotation and finding regular starters is your main consideration.

THE TRANSFER WINDOWS

Managing your team around the four Transfer Windows remains crucial, alongside the use of the Emergency Transfers. You can make up to three transfers per Transfer Window, with an Emergency Transfer between the windows – it’s a “use them or lose them†policy with both.

The first window arrives on September 1, so with only four league matches completed, you can make three changes to your squad. Subsequently, you may look to allow for this in your early strategy, selecting players with a strong opening three fixtures, knowing that you can apply three changes prior to Gameweek 5.

The following window arrives on November 10 – that’s prior to Gameweek 13. The third arrives on January 26, ahead of Gameweek 24, with the final opportunity to make transfers landing on our laps on March 22, just before Gameweek 32.

Planning your team changes, putting our season ticker to use and considering the dates of cup rounds, is therefore an important factor.

JOINING LEAGUES

You can set up mini-leagues when you sign up and, if you have a PIN code, you can join up with established mini-leagues. You can establish up to five mini-leagues and enter individual teams into up to 5 mini-leagues each.

THE FANTASY FOOTBALL SCOUT LEAGUE

With that in mind, we’ve set up an official Fantasy Football Scout League for the Dream Team game, which you can now join with the PIN 8060586.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Previously posted but still hopingfor sum feedback:

    Myhill/Rudd
    Azpi/Lescott/Cedric/Richards/Francis
    Henderson/Hazard/Grealish/Payet/Ritchie
    Deeney/Aguero/Rooney

Aguero will either b Giroud or Benteke for the 1st couple of weeks. I did wanna squeeze in an Arsenal midfielder but money's tight.
    Wot y'all fink?

Midfield is lightweight. Personally would say you need 4mids of 6.5m+. Would go Ritchie-->Chadli, Grealish-->Wanyama, Bentaleb. Don't double on WBA with those opening fixtures. Go Lescott-->O'Shea and then Rudd-->Ruddy. Otherwise good

I'm not a fan of Chadli and hav lil Faith in Spurs. I fink Grealish will b a 1st choice attacking midfielder too. The double West Brom I could sort, it's jus that I want Lescott and Myhill is a temporary solution. Thanksf or ur feedback tho, it's much appreciated.

Hi guys, could I have a quick RMT.
    Ruddy Myhill
Ivan A.Williams Francis O'Shea Huth (although want to change)
    Hazard Ozil Chadli Henderson Wanyama
    Costa Rooney Deeney

Makes it easy to do Costa-->Kun as I can downgrade two of Rooney, Ivan, Chadli or Hendo.

    1. 1/2
      2/3
      3/3
      2/2 = 8/10 Nice team. O'Shea to Shawcross?

also which 4.5m defenders do you like? Undecided between which three to go.

            1. Well, you've got one - Francis. I don't believe that there are many ... I have a very expensive defence ...

              Ivanovic, Koscielny, Francis, Fonte, Burke

Prödl worth a look, nailed on started at Werder Bremen, I imagine he will be at Watford as well. They've looked to strengthen with a couple of defensive CMs (Capoue and Behrami) as well as bring in a new keeper, another CB (Angella) and a FB (Holebas).

wow Doos. Don't you fancy Ashley Williams for 0.5m cheaper than Fonte. Looks like a steal. Maybe then you can upgrade Burke to Morgan. And change your GK rotation to something like Ruddy and Butland

                1. Yes. But I have Schmeichel. 🙂

My goalies are the top combo - you will see.

I did originally have that. But Ashley Williams was just to tempting.

                    1. I don't disagree - but I can afford Fonte.

Mata has a knack for losing gametime, and now he has approximately 6,000 people competing with him for starts. I like Ozil or Rambo myself, though I'm currently on Depay so what do I know.

Just to check: if someone has 3 united players and Schneiderlin (still as Soton)

Once he's converted into a united player - if you transfer any of the 3 other united players to another United player will it still allow you to keep him.

    Forget how it works.

Or is just if you transfer Schneid out that you'd effectively lose your 4 united players?

    1. Bauerhaus 24

You can get 4 players from one team in this way but then your next transfer has to rid at least 1.

I think he could be as well but I already have Ritchie. Atsu can create a lot of chance on that wing. His finishing product isn't great but he can get some goals. Need to see him play in the epl more though. As I ghanian supporter I've seen enough of him on the international stage

FFS sold me on Ritchie and I've only seen highlights of him but he can really shoot the ball. Looks like a quality player but those are only highlights right. At the same time I've seen Atsu play full games.

Coming from a Watford fan, really don't think you want Anya as your 4.5. He'll see very little game time with Holebas signed, and we're still in the market for another RB/RWB. 4.5 mids should be starters first and foremost imo.

Pudil is a LB/LWB, probably 3rd choice now, might even get sold. Hoban is an interesting one, can play CB or LB, and was first choice for a lot of last season. But with Prodl signed, looks like he'll be on the bench most of the time, even if we play with 3 CBs (Cathcart, Angella, Prodl first choice)

Is Azpi worth having... or should I get Koscielney?
    Any better 4.5 mid?

    General thoughts appreciated 🙂

Your 4.0 aren't gonna play. Would downgrade Benteke-->Sakho then upgrade Bolasie-->Henderson/Chadli, Smith-->Francis and Mariappa-->Morgan/Ward. Don't like Butland as I don't trust Stoke's defence with GJ.

Fair points, though your grav suggests bias towards Sakho (I did like Sakho last season).

I'll look into those suggestions but think they'll improve my team.

Defence a bit expensive imo, maybe downgrade williams/janmaat to a 4.5/4.0 then upgrade somewhere else? Your strikers are good and despite not having haz, the midfield is good

Don't think Newcastle will get many cleanies so would swap Janmaat with Cedric

Firmino I would wait and see with, Hendo is cheaper and safer initially and would allow a Ritchie upgrade

Nice. would drop Janmaat to a benchfodder 4 though . Gives you 1 itb to assist getting Aguero when you need him ? You already have 3 premium defenders plus Huth

Taking all comments into account I would Janmaat -> Saylor and Firmino -> Hendo. This enables me to go for Ritchie -> 8.5. Can get Yaya to cover for MCI or someone from MUN / ARS, if they are good in preseason. My initial plan is to wait for GW4 to downgrade a mid and get Aguero with 2 free FTs.

I currently have Pants/Myhill as my two keepers but they cost 9.5 which is quite expensive. I want to only spend 9.0 on keepers but i cant decide whether to go with:
    A) Pants and a 4.0
    B) A 4.5/4.5 rotation (suggestions would be appreciated)

    Thanks in advance 🙂

Pants and 4.0 if you want to do the obvious.
4.5 rotation if you can bear the pain and the agony of benching the wrong one.

Shocked at the lack of David Silva in teams tbh. Yeah, he's pricey, but he's proven fantasy gold. Perfect to have in your team from the beginning of the season while you scope out the new talent.

I think Sterling could do well to be honest. It would benefit both players on the pitch I feel and us Fantasy manager too. I had Silva, but I've gone with Aguero now instead.

Maybe so, but I see no point on guessing or punting on a player doing well, when you can pick solid, proven players and wait and see about the likes if Sterling.

Hard to have Silva + Hazard, and I am guessing that many folks have chosen Eden instead. I have. Plus, if you have Kun (or money itb for Kun), it's hard to have Kun, Hazard and Silva.

I don't like the defense. Liverpool have tough opening fixtures and I've heard they Mert is a rotation risk with Gabriel. I'd hold off on Ward because of fixtures and I don't know how well Howard and Guzan rotate
