We continue our members articles looking back at last season with a review of West Brom’s displays under Tony Pulis. The Welshman took the helm after Alan Irvine was sacked – with the Baggies lying 16th in the Premier League on December 30 – and ultimately steered them to a 13th-placed finish, a full nine points clear of the drop zone. We’ll compare the attacking numbers from both managers’ spells in charge, and assess the similarities and differences in the statistics.

Irvine was a surprise appointment ahead of the 2014/15 season, having endured difficult spells in charge at Preston and Sheffield Wednesday. After managing a mere four wins from Albion’s first 19 matches, the Scot was relieved of his duties, with Pulis taking over on January 1, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal. Under the former Stoke and Crystal Palace boss, the Baggies secured seven victories from 18 matches, including wins against Man United and Chelsea in the final months of the season.

This. Good chance Newcastle get hammered GW1, with or without Saylor. Even if he is a starter GW 1, not long term. A depreciating asset.

BTW I've owned him in the past, but now is not the time.

Is it worth putting in Lukaku in and shipping him out after GW1 for Pelle?

My thinking is that most of us are picking teams that we are confident with for the first 4 gameweeks plus right...so what is really going to happen in GW1 (asides from injury) that's going to make another sub neccessary?

I've got Lukaku for 1 Wk as well. A bit risky as an injury is possible and I need the next 2 FTs to bring in Aguero for Wk4 but if that happens i'll just take a hit. I wouldn't have done it but Lukaku is a strong captain choice for Wk 1 and I haven't got anyone else who is an outstanding candidate.

From pre season has cabaye been playing in a deep role? Is it worth to get him or we will be getting constant blanks as he must be cheap for a reason despite a big real life fee.

Cabaye was only a squad player for PSG though. Pardew absolutely loves him and the Palace team will be built around him as the main playmaker and set piece taker. If you look at his points total in his final half a season with Newcastle it was very good (96 points in 1504 mins) considering his price.

What are the latest predictions on Juan Mata. Will he:
    a) be in the starting 11 and star from the right, plus be on penalties, thus making him essential.
    b) be in and out of the starting 11, so not worth £8.5.
    c) be a non-starter until Man Utd's season starts falling apart and van Gaal admits he needs to reintroduce him as a no. 10 to score goals (after the failure of Rooney and Depay), thus making him essential after GW 8.
    d) none of the above.

    1. Bøss ⭐

Elliott would be 4th/5th choice winger. Ryan likely to be backup in the long term with the defence looking like Wisdom/Whittaker - Martin - Bassong - Olsson.

Ryan would probably need an injury to force his way in long term...

    Good day,

I'll be rotating ritchie in certain games, I have a few nominees on the table.

A: Ki: some skepticism on whether he will replicate last seasons performances
B: larrson: indirect / direct free kick opportunities, although he can dissapear in games
C: Redmond: slifhtly underrated, It's my prediction that Brady will take the opposite winger slot.
D: brunt: early fixtures may be disheartening, in addition to a possible LB role.

Feel free to share, thanks in advance

I'm looking to rotate Redmond and Ritchie all season. May be a gamble but their rotation means neither will play the top 6 all season. I'd rather use the nor/bou rotation for this than go looking for clean sheets. The defensive rotation I'm using is swa / sun

Ivanovic worth the extra 1.0m over Aspi, now they both appear to be nailed ?.

Much better attacking potential. Imo not worth it though but will rack up a couple of more points

Depends on what you value. Balance or the occasional boost from Ivan's attacking potential. For me that 1m can be the difference between a Sakho and a Pelle or a Ritchie and a Chadli

I don't think so I'd rather invest that money somewhere else but Ivan is a good choice

Chelsea's style compliments ivanovic tendency to move forward in the pitch. If you notice the left hand side is mostly hazard covered, as William tracks back ivanovics advances on the right hand side. Not to mention, being at the end of indirect free kicks and corners.

      However,
If the additional 1 point can be put to better use elsewhere, you should probably do it.

Could anyone please give an opinion on his team?
    Cech | Hennessey
    Azpil | Cedric | Huth | Mings | S.Taylor
    Hazard | Ozil | Tadic | Bolasie | Wanyama
    Rooney | Kane | Benteke

I've gone big up front but has it taken away from my midfield?
Should I go Bolasie or Cabaye or puncheon?
Also could someone link me to the rotation spreadsheet it'd be much appreciated!

think there's better value than Cech. Puldnt tiuvh newcastle with a barge, getting hammerd pre season. Bolas, as palace have tough fixtures. Benteke might not start. Other than that great.
