    cedric > Clyne

Think Liverpool will surprise many this year by being a better defensive unit.

They looked very solid defensively at Brittania. Lovren might be one to consider too..

Lovren didn't put a foot wrong, Rodgers is playing a 4-2-3-1 offering further protection to the back four using Milner and Henderson. With the addition of Clyne and Gomez into the defence, Skrtl and Lovren have better wing backs supporting them. This is why I feel Liverpool will leak less goal this season.

I dont think 4-2-3-1 is gonna be used often though. Can lacked match fitness and when he came on on Sunday, the team looked much better going forward. Still, defence looks in better shape..Clyne feels like a huge upgrade on Johnson.

Rodgers will start with 4-2-3-1 and then switch to 4-3-3 later on in the match, this is what he did on Saturday by bringing on Can and pushing Coutinho further up. Rodgers wanted to keep it tight early doors.

I do think Rodgers will change the formations during the season based on opposition and personnel.

    Ruddy - Butland
    Azpi - Kosc - Cedric - Huth - Francis
    Haz - Wally - Sterling - Henderson - Fletcher
    Rooney - Pelle - Wilson

main concerns are Wally, Sterling, Henderson and Wilson

save the FT and wait to assess? this team has quite bad fixtures next week.

Only reason I didn't get Mahrez was cos he was playing against us. Then he went and shafted us both anyway. If I buy him and he blanks he's gonna do me in all three holes. Gonna steer clear I reckon

The thing is that Hazard will likely get those 3-5 extra goals from penalties plus he gets so much bonus points it's ridiculous. Having said that I fancy Sanchez at the moment.

They did but there were a few positive signs. He is definitely going to be the focal point of the team because they were trying to play through balls to him all afternoon. Henderson had a very good chance to give him a tap in but misjudged his movement. Also, all kicks from Mignolet were directed towards him so he could manage a few assists from flick ons over the season.

Sorry, I don't think it looks good, that's why I'm against early wildcards. We've seen nothing yet. McCarthy won't play in a few weeks, Gomez probably won't start every week, Targett the same, Oxford even more so. Mahrez won't do that all the time, Westwood was a fluke, Gomis is not a good striker.

            • 13 Years

But as always, if you're feeling good with it, don't think too much about it. Another advice, try and ride the prices whilst you're on the wildcard, a bit too early for that, but you could still get something out of it, good luck! 🙂

Thank You for your feedback. I agree with Mccarthy, and I am not all for the GK rotation which is why I am just sticking with Butland. I could upgrade Gomez to Clyne and switch Gomis to Pelle, but I feel Swansea will be much more attacking than Southo this year, and Gomis will get loads of chances to score, whether he takes them we will have to see. As far as Targett goes he would be someone I would switch out when Bertrand comes back, and oxford is just a cheap 4.0 filler tbh, same as Westwood.

Ok so had a shocker, 26 points arrrrgh! It's a marathon though not a sprint 😉

,Anyone consider any of the squad below an essential transfer out in order to manage price drops/rises?

    Schmeichel & Ruddy
    Richards, Prödl, Huth, Francis Targett
Hazard, Walcott, Mané, Ritchie & Bentaleb
    Aguero, Rooney, Wilson

Got 1 mill in the bank & am considering either a minor change like Francis to Gomez to benefit from the price rise or shipping either Walcott or Ritchie out as they look most at risk of dropping & replace with either Ayew or Payet?

Jesus don't bring gomez you are already doing bad enough (try and restrict your picks to nailed players in the early stages so you don't have to waste transfers taking out dropped players). Richie and mane git to go imo one unproven in epl the other overpriced.

Didn't Gomez play well though? Moreno's his only competition isn't he & he's not exactly great either?

I'm happy to hold on Mané for now, no major risk of his price dropping just yet & he was quality last season.

Ritchie is a concern though, if he picks up its not like I couldn't afford to get him back

He was booked and was on toast most of the game. When GJ makes you look out of your depth it's not a good day. Moreno I'd not the stiffest of competition and BR has a history of giving young players a chance but how gomez can go from playing 17 games or so of senior football in a lower league to first choice liverpool fb I just can't see it. Waste of two transfers imo.

Re Richie I think you're right and that was the reason I didn't get him in the first place as I didn't want to waste a transfer taking him out if he didn't cut mustard while I thought if he starts ok I'll bring him in.

Mane should score ok I just don't think he'll be good value is all

Leaning toward saving the transfer, just don't want to miss out on price rices & that's what had me thinking Francis to Gomez.

He's on the verge of a price rise now & is pretty much a given to start at home against Bournemouth which is going to be good odds for a Pool CS & IF that happens he could be 4.7 or 4.8 by middle of next week. Not bad to earn 0.2-0.3 from a transfer of a 4th or 5th choice.

Calm the jets on chasing price rises they mean f all in the scheme of things. Try and just pick solid players with good fixtures and your value will rise automatically

I think Jonty deserves to take a bow for promoting group think and Walcott being the highest scoring player in fpl history (I know, he really said this. I almost wet myself when I read it http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/08/04/moving-target-rickie-lambert-2/?hc_page=5#hc_comment_10725044 ). It's almost like he didn't account for all those returns when coming on as a sub or those game he never finished after scoring earlier. The most basic rule in fpl is pick players that start and Wenger himself had said he was going to pick his striker based on the fixture meaning wally not nailed.

Other group think failures from gw1 are Richie, Mane, and Depay is (to varying levels of failure).

I think this just shows the need to be very careful of group think.

The people I feel sorry for are the hazard captained and those who backed brave and went against group think but didn't get paid off.

Yeah I get what you mean now (I just reread it and it does come off a little bit that way alright).

I'd just like the likes of Jonty to row in a little and admit that maybe he can be wrong (spectacularly) sometimes. Hardly anybody captained or even owned Walcott outside of the ffs community and I think he and mark were largely responsible for that (although I blame the people that listened to them more hence the reason for the warning against group think).

    Courtois(Mccarthy)

    Golly gosh! So much knee-jerking!

It's almost guaranteed that all those who blanked this week will return to the radar with solid performances in the next few weeks, stick with your original teams and persuasions folks ... perhaps chase the occasional cash-cow, otherwise ride the wave and have faith in the 15 you chose!

To get in Aguero which do you prefer.

    A) Haz -> Chadli/Ayew then Benteke -> Aguero gw3 (means I keep Rooney but lose Haz)
    Or
    B) Ozil -> Payet/Chadli then Benteke -> Sakho/Gomis then Rooney -> Aguero for gw4

    With B I keep Haz.

I liked the look of Newcastle on Sunday, but looking at their fixtures, they might only pick up 3 points from their next 7 games. Poor Shteve could be getting it in the neck by October
