With West Brom and City set to play out the Gameweek tonight, the injuries have largely been kept to a minimum in this opening round of fixtures. Arsenal’s in-form right-back is expected to return imminently, though Everton are set to be without Leighton Baines after the England defender’s ankle injury played up again.

Arsenal
Hector Bellerin missed Arsenal’s home defeat by West Ham yesterday but is likely to return by the weekend, according to Arsene Wenger:

“Bellerin has a slight muscular injury, it’s only a question of days.â€

The club’s official twitter account rolled out an update on Olivier Giroud after the Frenchman sustained a head knock in the 2-0 defeat. Arsenal have moved to deny reports that Giroud was knocked unconscious, with the forward returning home as normal after the encounter.

Everton
The Toffees are set to be without Leighton Baines for a period of time after the left-back suffered a recurrence of the ankle injury that forced him to miss the end of last season. Roberto Martinez issued the following update:

“Everything had been perfect in Leighton’s programme and he worked extremely hard in pre-season. He looked refreshed, he looked strong and he look at a really, really good level. Then, in training, he blocks a ball and it hits him exactly in the same area where he had surgery, with the unfortunate result that he’s going to be out for a while. It’s one of those tough moments that you have to take as a player but he knows we’re going to help him immensely, everyone will support him and we have to make the most of his other role, which is to be part of the group and be a leader while he’s getting back to full fitness.”

Martinez also went on to discuss Kevin Mirallas’ fitness after the Belgian was subbed off in the second period, having picked up a knock in a challenge with Watford’s Valon Behrami:

“He wanted to stay on the pitch, clearly. But he had a really nasty tackle and we’re going to be assessing him in the next 48 hours. He tried to stay on, he couldn’t and now we’ll see what the extent of the injury is.â€

Leicester
Claudio Ranieri eased fears over an injury to Ritchie de Laet after the Foxes weekend win over Sunderland. Post-match, the Italian confirmed the right-back was withdrawn due to cramp, rather than injury.

Man United
Phil Jones missed United’s home win over Spurs due to blood clotting. The centre-half is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks.

Newcastle
Steve McClaren suggested that Vurnon Anita’s back injury may not be as bad as first feared after the midfielder was stretchered off against Southampton yesterday:

“Vurnon is ok and he’s walking around normally. We will assess it this week.â€

Stoke City
Mark Hughes confirmed he had to replace left-back Erik Pieters at the break against Liverpool yesterday due to illness:

“Erik was ill at half-time and wasn’t able to come back out for the second half. That is something that will resolve itself very quickly I’m sure, but I haven’t had an update from the medical staff yet. Touch wood he will be ok to join in training with the rest of the guys early next week.â€

The Potters boss went on to admit that Bojan Krkic is still around a fortnight away from making a top-flight return. The Spaniard continues to step up his fitness after being sidelined since January with a knee injury:

“He definitely needs another couple of weeks because he isn’t quite up to speed for Premier League football just yet. He would have loved to have been involved I’m sure, but we want to make sure he is fit and ready when we do bring him back into the squad. I’m sure it won’t be long until he is ready and available to go again.â€

Swansea
Ki Sung-Yeung is a slight doubt after picking up a hamstring problem towards the end of the first-half of Saturday’s draw at Chelsea. Garry Monk remains optimistic on his prospects of making the Gameweek 2 home clash with Newcastle:

“Ki has a slight twinge in his hamstring, but it is nothing serious and hopefully he will be ready for the next gameâ€.

The Swans have also confirmed that Jefferson Montero was withdrawn due to cramp in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge after tormenting Branislav Ivanovic for much of the match.

Tottenham
Danny Rose was unavailable for the trip to Old Trafford after sustaining a “slight quad injuryâ€, allowing Ben Davies to start at left-back.

He was mediocre at best for most of the game, and got an assist from a sideways pass near the half way line.

Yes but he was high up the pitch for Def. Everytime you looked across the back line he was higher up than Clyne.

Stoke exploited him a lot down Liverpool's left. Did okay though. Brendan praised him which is encouraging.

Rodgers had good words to say about him after the game, but he seemed to also say Benteke was outstanding (or similar) so who knows what that means.

Yes, for an 18 year old he is. Very composed, good on the ball, what Rodgers likes. He's naturally a CB so maybe Liverpool want to play more conservative this season.

I'd need to see the replay again but I don't think they stand much chance. Yes Cahill was coming back to cover but I don't think he would have gotten there. If Courtois doesn't take Gomis out he has a clear shot on goal.

        Exactly.

Gomis slowed down when he realised he was about the be twatted by the lumbering oaf. Pointless appeal imo.

I'm pretty sure the punitive extra game ban wouldn't apply in this situation. I think it's only when teams put an appeal in to delay the start of the ban.

Good point. Giroud is not the type to pick up minor injuries so i really fear for his gametime overall.

Aye, they've no real need to play Wally tbh. Sanchez has that spot nailed, Ox, Rambo, Welbz and him can compete for the other wing. Likewise, Giroud, Sanchez, Welbz and himself can play up top too.

Needs to step it up big time now, but I reckon they'll use him well. Just not a great FPL pick.

Hard one, but don't see the Ox THAT nailed though, with Sanchez back Wenger will want to fit Ramsey in it, and if he does, the Ox might need to go. Wally obviously has a chance there to, but tbh, Wally is so good of the bench, that might be his worst enemy.

So my best guess, he will be on the bench IF giroud starts.

Would give Wally 50/50 to start, Wenger has said he will rotate, and CP seems like a good one for him rather than Giroud imo.

Agree, but you underestimate Wenger's Ability to play his loved one, even out of position if need be.

Being nailed is not what you and I think is the obvious choice, it's what the manager thinks 😉

Getting Hazard only to remove him after one week is ridiculous- not why anyone got him in the first place but now everyone wants to make that transfer because they didn't leave funds for a better one... Feel free but we got him because he'll score points as well as blanking...

Yes it might be a bad move to get Hazard for a week but not sure we expected to see Sanchez at all v West Ham. Then maybe expected a sub appearance probably v Palace then next game v Liberpool. I would have done Hazard to Sanchez GW4 but I think it makes sense to do it now

        this is an interesting point

The Arsenal midfield does seem like a lottery points wise so why pay more for a ticket?

That being said Sanchez is the ticket with the most chance of winning and totally nailed.

Arsenal games will be an uncomfortable watch without him, sure. But it doesn't compare to being without Hazard, Aguero or Rooney for theirs. At least that's my take on it (and I only have a small couch to hide behind).

Sanchez is much more likely to rise than Hazard over next few weeks. There's hardly any room for Hazard to rise with his ownership so high. Sanchez will be more expensive than Hazard as soon he scores decent in a GW

              • 15 Years

Yeah he'll probably be better for TV building, actually.

Hazard's a non-negotiable inclusion for me though. I did a 'captaincy analysis' at the end of last season, and one of the things I noticed was that I'd have been better off picking a Chelsea captain much more than an Arsenal one. This season, I decided I needed good captainable options from Che, Mun & Mcy.

I just think Hazard, like all the other most expensive players are only good value when they would be your captain. Which GW over the next 10 would you captain Hazard over Sanchez and Aguero? I can't see any so he not worth having imo

Yes because Sanchez could be captained over Aguero over next few weeks based on his fixtures whereas Hazard couldn't. I'm strongly thinking of doing this tonight. Will leave me with no Chelsea but not that bothered

What happens with Agueros value if he scores...

    a) 1 goal
    b) brace

... today. Planed for him after GW3 with 2FT or with 1FT +one hit after GW2, but will need double hit if I feel forced to do it now.

Those with Walcott and without Sterling. If Sterling goes mental tonight are you tempted to make the transfer or keep faith with Theo?

seems an obvious route out. but it might make more sense to get someone cheap to make funds for Aguero.

I'm getting rid of Theo, rightly or wrongly - if he plays this week he could be benched next week and so on.....a rotational nightmare.

    Replacements options are:
    a. Mahrez
    b. Payet (Have Jenkinson and Sakho)
    c. Lens

    Which one??

I wouldn't of gone near even 2 after that either tbh. But Payet was the best player on the field against Arsenal. I would get rid of Jenkinson if you're worried tripling up next FT

Wouldn't really call it a bandwagon, Wally is a proven FPL asset who was worth the risk and still might turn out to be a great option. But then I know you're just wumming 😉

Not a bandwagon? Everyone knew he was a rotation risk, yet the scouts pretended he was 100% nailed on and got everyone even more hyped up over him. Glad a held my nerve with that one! Trying times!

Tbf there was alot of doubt surrounding Walcott's gametime. The scouts, and alot of people here, just chose to ignore it

Choosing to ignore and acknowledging the fact while still chooseing to take the risk are two different things. You guys are making it sound like you knew for a fact that he would not start which is not possible.

Yep, everyone did know he was a rotation risk but owners decided that the risk was worth it for the potential return. Not sure about what the Scouts said because I havent really been following here too much but I doubt they pretended he was 100% nailed.

If the Courtois appeal fails (inevitable), is changing to Mignolet madness considering their away fixtures? (in games they're dominated in he'll make saves surely?).

I already have Arsenal and Hammers cover, and the United situation is far from settled. Sunderland looked poor at the back so that's Panta off my radar.

Couple of questions FFS community 🙂

    A) What would you say the likelihood of Oxford starting is next match considering his age and potential signing of Joey Barton?

    B) Swansea are looking really good so is Ayew the best form of coverage from their attack or Gomis in your opinion? Or would you opt for Montero as he is a cheap £6.0m who impressed against Chelsea however he may not be quality fantasy wise...?

    C) West Ham's Payet is also looking very promising however would you prefer to get him as their coverage as he will provide several assists or Sakho as a cheaper striker who you hope to be the outcome of Payet's hard work?

    D) Liverpool's Gomez is looking like a great option at LB however there is competition with Moreno, would you say he will start next match?

Thanks all. Just want to gather opinions

speaking to D, Moreno is a terrible LB. Liverpool will suffer if they play him as a fullback (instead of a wingback). I would imagine if Rodgers plays 4 at the back, Moreno is not topping his list as priority choice.

      A) not good

      C) Got sakho n im happy
      D) Moreno for pace n width in easier games

A - I'd expect him to start, but not a long-term option, imo
      B - undecided
C - Payet looks great, but I think I heard/read Sakho say that he doesn't like to shoot - might be wrong there. Nevertheless, I'm considering bringing him in, and I have Sakho already.
D - I expect him to start next match, but like Oxford, perhaps not a long-term option.

      A) Good chance 80%
      B) Reckon Gomez will be decent
      C) Sakho's enough WHU for me
      D) Joe Gomez looks a smasher and Rodgers doesn't trust Moreno anymore, would say there's a good chance he's there to stay at LB

      A) Most likely to start next game, why would Bilic drop him? he was quality.
      B) Too early to tell, can't see Gomis doing that well this season though.
      C) I'd double up if I was you, Sakho and Payet
      D) Yes same situation as Oxford, he was solid good on the ball, part of the defence that kept a clean sheet, why would he be dropped?

      A) Good likelihood for next match but beyond that who knows

      B) I like Gomis but it depends on the rest of your players

      C) Again, I like Sakho but if you need a midfielder Payet looks decent. Possibility they're bringing in a new striker too

      D) Same as A
