Yaya Toure scores twice as City sweep aside West Brom at the Hawthorns. David Silva chips in with an assist, whilst Sergio Aguero steps up his match fitness with a second-half cameo off the bench.

Toure brace propels Blues to summit

Yaya Toure reaffirmed his heavy-hitting potential with a first-half brace against an overwhelmed Baggies outfit. Granted, the Ivorian’s first goal was very fortuitous – despite David Silva getting a touch, the Fantasy Premier League attributed the goal to the Ivorian and the assist to Jesus Navas. There were no such doubts over his second, though, as he curled a sublime effort into the top corner. Although Toure had to be substituted after 80 minutes with a slight groin strain, manager Manuel Pellegrini later revealed that he expects him to be fit to face Chelsea next Gameweek.

With most Fantasy managers turning their sights towards Raheem Sterling (22% ownership) or David Silva (10%) for their Sky Blues coverage, Toure (6%) proved to be a high-impact differential. Nonetheless, Silva showcased more than enough to suggest that his 10.0 price tag is worth the outlay, orchestrating the midfield with effortless poise and bagging an assist in the process. Sterling, meanwhile, fluffed a gilt-edged one-on-one chance, yet his pace in behind carries the promise of attacking returns.

Sergio Aguero was handed a 28-minute cameo as he gears up for a potential start against Chelsea on Sunday. Given the typically tight nature of that match-up (four goals in two head-to-heads last term), non-owners might be tempted hold off on recruiting the Argentinian marksman until Gameweek 3 (eve) or even Gameweek 4 (WAT), before City embark on a fantastic run of fixtures up to Gameweek nine (cry, WHY, tot, NEW, BOU).

Vincent Kompany (6.0) cemented the three points with a commanding header just before the hour mark. While City’s quartet of home ties after the Chelsea fixture look conducive to clean sheets, Aleksandar Kolarov (5.5) arguably presents a stronger case for inclusion in Gael Clichy’s absence, given that the Serbian full-back took precedence over Toure at free-kicks and ranked top for goal attempts (three) among defenders in Gameweek 1.

Baggies slump in home opener

Tony Pulis’ troops were comprehensively outclassed at the Hawthorns, falling to their second consecutive 3-0 defeat at the hands of City. Saido Berahino – who lined up alongside Rickie Lambert in a 4-4-2 set-up – had his moments and was denied a goal by virtue of the offside flag. It remains to be seen how club-record signing Salomon Rondon will slot into the forward line, particularly with question marks surrounding Berahino’s future.

James McClean was favoured in the left-wing role by Tony Pulis, meaning Chris Brunt was deployed in the left-back berth – starving us of a Baggies defensive option. With a home clash against Chelsea just around the corner, many non-owners of the Baggies backline will be persuaded to steer clear until the schedule takes a turn for the better from Gameweek 4 onwards.

Who should I go for for courtois

I have these defenders and didn't really want to double up

    Cedric. Mert. Morgan. Taylor. Baker.

Was thinking Mignolet but might go Adrian to save money to potentially get Aguero in

with yaya being doubtful now, i dont think so/hope not

if yaya does play which he probably will it might not be full 90 which potentially means one more mid needed to replace him and hopefully keeping sterlings place for longer.

i think they bought him for a reason for that price, expect him to play alot now that city dont have tons of options like they once had

It`s a long run - Mahrez have some very kind fixtures in first 10 gameweeks.

And I don`t overprice WH win at the weekend, 2 seasons ago Aston Villa do the same on Emirates and then were suffering a lot.

          exactly my thoughts.
sticking with sterling, see what happens, mahrez had like 4 goals last season sure he might be up for a better season this year but the odds still arent amazing just because of one good GW for him

holding on the transfer and then will have two to bring in kun when city's games are easy streets!

A because rooney has more experience in prem than others, kane hasnt performed up to expectations in last 3 months, maybe pelle would be vice if I were picking; he does score goes just as much as Rooney but it depends on the week, Mane is a twat always diving (never really liked him anyway) and ozil needs to be more inform but maybe captain later on in the season

Hi all, wondering what your opinions are with regards to what to do with this team.

    http://i.imgur.com/7TVjtlM.jpg

Pretty sure I'm going to save the transfer. Only thing that bothers me is Walcott, and I would like to get someone like Sanchez or Silva in for him, but it would require a hit. I'd rather wait it out and have 2 FTs to play with.

Other option is to do Walcott > Payet/Ayew, and then look at shifting Chadli over he next few weeks. This one seems a bit knee jerky and I don't want to count on Chadli doing badly.

    Thoughts?

love that midfield. You will have to stay patient with that front 3. Rooney looks a few games short of where he should be and Benteke was so isolated on sunday. I expect him to do better as Liverpool should line up 4-3-3 instead of 4-2-3-1 we used against Stoke

Not a regular poster anymore but need help,

I have Courtois, Bellerin and Walcott -

I replaced Courtois with Mignolet ahead of Liverpools home game at Bournemouth, however, Bellerin remains doubtful and from the general discussion here it seems people don't think Walcott is going to start the next game (only make an appearance).
Should I take a hit and ship either Walcott to Coutinho or Bellerin to someone?

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

How do you plan to make sure Gameweek 2 is far better than Gameweek 1?

Trying to stay calm but worried by potential price falls, particularly for Walcott. Want to keep him for next gw but if he looks like falling in price I might have to ship him. It has the effect of losing 0.5 instead of just 0.1.

I'm tempted to take a hit to ditch Hazard and Wilson for Payet and Gomis. Leaves 2.5m in the bank to do Walcott to Sanchez with a bit spare or Rooney to Aguero in gwk 4.

I've taken hits in gwk 2 a couple of seasons now - both paid off well.

I've been eyeing up the same 2 players in but for Walcott and Wilson instead of Hazard.

I know I'll wildcard early so freeing up money for Aguero isn't a huge concern and can still easily be done in GW4 for free.

This, but instead I played my WC.

Somehow i get all locked before gw1 and can't think straight. I get so focused to get a good gw1 score that I forget about the other game weeks.

Now my team is more balanced out and if I want Sanchez / Aguero it's no problem for that.

I feel much better, just got some thinkering at the back and I'm good to go.

        WC team.

        Adrian / McCarty
        Darmian / Coates / Azpi / Bacuna / Ward
        Young / Ramsey / Ayew / Payet / Silva

      1. Probably leave my team alone. I'm happy with what I saw of most of my key decisions - Gomis, Lukaku (especially since Southampton leaked 2 goals to Newcastle), Mané...even Rooney gets to stay for GW2 given Aguero's got Chelsea.
      2. Alternatively, considering a) getting rid of PvA now and waiting for Sunderland to tighten up; b) knee-jerking my Sinclair punt (I know) to Albrighton; c) gamble on shipping Walcott for another Arsenal mid.

      Decisions, decisions!

I built this team for GW's 1-3, so no changes planned.

Saving the FT this week and hoping my players score. Hopefully this time Walcott and Bellerin will start, I won't bench Gomez's 11 points and Sakho will play well again but actually deliver FPL returns.

fairly happy to wait, even though I only had 25 points
I have Kolarov and Gomez, only one I might want in as a def is Oxford, but no rush
waiting on my midfield which is Sterling Walcott Chadli Ramsey = 8 points but still feel they could performe even explode.
very happy with my offence Aguero Sakho Pelle

So I am just going to sit back and wait and see.
will probably try to get Sanchez in before GW3 instead of Wally.

Surprisigly despite scoring 26 points, i'm not panicking and i still like my team. Already did Sterling to Mahrez last night but that move was predicted when i was choosing my team (Sterling to a bandwagon up to 6.5m) so i'm getting Kun for Rooney next week.

Have great expectations from Mane, Cedric, Target, Benteke and Sakho for GW2.

Also started planing a move to get Sanchez in, curently thinking Benteke to Gomis and Ozil to Sanchez transfers for GW3 and GW4

I built my team for 3 GWs so it still looks good for GW2. Only an Aguero explosion would have prompted thoughts of a WC, which I'm planning for week 4 anyway.

I left 0.5 in the bank and have already knee jerked Gomez in for Targett. He may well get dropped next game, but he could also 'do a Chambers' and become a great value way into a tough defence. When there's no other areas I want to improve and I'm planning an early WC anyway, I see no reason to save the FT.

The main reason for our low rankings was that a large number of FPL managers put all their eggs in one basket and have already used one of their chips. Some also got lucky with Yaya and Kompany.

We should all have plenty of green arrows to look forward to! 🙂

I'll probably leave it. The only possible change I would make would be to get shot of Fabregas but he should play 10 against City and be back on set pieces. I've decided to be an optimist this season.

Like most I'm happy to hold. Scored 28 points but I have planned my team for 3gws then a wc so no point in doing anything rash. Wilson to Sakho was always my planned transfer this week and I'm still doing to do it.

All the highest scoring teams I've looked at are auto picks with random captains (Kone!!!!????). Most of us on here will expect a top 50k finish and I'd be surprised if many of the top scoring teams I've seen are anywhere near that. They'll most likely be dead teams come Christmas.
