I’m having humble pie for breakfast.

A thick crust and generous filling, it’s not my preferred Saturday morning bacon sarnie but I’m tucking it away hungrily, nonetheless.

Last season I realised that this was the secret: when Fantasy Football rubs your nose in your mistakes, you’ve got to own up.

After opening the door for a player to punish me post-Wildcard in last week’s Preamble, Callum Wilson duly obliged with an unexpected hat-trick and maximum bonus return.

I knew it was coming. The important thing now was to act accordingly.

Having sold on Wilson with the Wildcard, I could have shown the usual stubborn attitude and convinced myself that my plans remained valid. That I knew best.

According to Wildcard blueprint v23 I should have been bringing Matt Ritchie in for Marc Albrighton this morning, benching Troy Deeney for his likely spell of spectating at the Etihad but reserving him as my budget striker.

Instead, I had to admit the error, forgive Callum for embarrassing me and snap him up before his price rose back to 5.5.

That could be another mistake. Ritchie may take his turn to run riot and Deeney may even come good in weeks to come; I had to ignore those fears. I also had to banish concerns of the template team forming and drown out the nagging “chasing points” argument in my head.

When a 5.4 striker demonstrates the ability to score a hat-trick, you don’t hesitate and cling to a plan.

I’d fancied Wilson as a prospect from the get-go but those beliefs were abandoned amongst the noise of the Wildcard scramble. Despite the pain of witnessing last weekend’s points haul, I can justify going back for Wilson and swallow some pride.

Above all, I fear that, if Wilson notches against Leicester, we’re going to be looking at a relentless bandwagon over the break and that would make any future portion of humble pie a lot less palatable.

I can’t risk that. I need that whiff of fried rashers to help me wake from the inevitable international slumber.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Actually Deeney. Seeing as i reckon Bouremouth will score a couple and Huth could be booked, where Deeney will most likely get 2 points but could bag a goal.

yop m8 long time no see. I havent really had time to prepare my team so I had to wildcard early this season so it's not really going well in FF so far.
a stoke fan told me muniesa is injury prone so he advised me to get cameron instead what do you think ?

    Kolarov Shaw Richards Gomez Targett
    Sanchez Pedro Coutinho Mahrez Westwood
    Defoe Aguero Lukaku

Any suggestions? Unfortunately its £0.1 million too much. Can someone PLEEASE help me find 0.1 million. I was thinking maybe Bellerin and Yaya for Kolarov and Pedro or taking out Westwood for Cattermole but I was afraid Cattermole may de-value further. THANKS

Hello everyone! I'm a portuguese fan of the Premier League, so I try to watch as many games I can and I've playing FPL for a few seasons. I don't watch the Championship, so I don't really know Wilson skills. Isn't it possible that all this "crazyness" around Wilson is unfounded?! After all he didn't score in the first 2 gw's, and he did score an hat-trick last gw, but 2 goals were obviously offered by Cresswell and the other was a penalty. Just saying...

He's got the skills to pay the bills and a strong attacking team behind him. I'd say keep an eye on him, he looked good in all three gameweeks.

well, I didn't know Charlie Austin as well before last season and I did profit with his crazy home form. I just think it's too early to go crazy on him. but in fact, Bournemouth attacking way of playing has been a surprise for me. I'll keep an eye on him, ty!

Not surprising given he scored a hat trick. Everyone saying he was gifted. He could have scored 5 and the manner of his finishing was superb

bournemouth is playing an attacking minded football, so obviously if you have him, and after scoring an hat-trick, you keep. and his upcoming fixtures are really nice, so that's also why I'm keeping Ritchie, even if I don't know him from previous seasons (just noticed about his crazy stats around here).

btw, why in hell no Premier League team got Charlie Austin?!

yeah, well that's a fact. actually I used my wildcard last gw and was in doubt about Ritchie/Diouf vs Shaqiri/Wilson. ended up with the 1st, cause I wasn't sure how Shaqiri will adapt to the english football. probably it was a mistake...

    6. JustClasie

For me it is more about his clear potential which was shown from the West Ham game, paired with good fixtures an attacking team and the fact that he will get my team value going up.

yeah, you're right. you can never ignore a 5,5£ forward who scores an hat-trick, playing for an attacking minded team and with a nice schedule ahead. I have Aguero, Gomis and Diouf in my team, and I don't know who should I replace for him, probably I'm just trying to convince myself they will perform better than Wilson and Ritchie will start doing something... 🙂

put Tekkers in to go from -4 to a -8 this week LR, too high an ownership to risk not having him agaist West Ham. He could easily be sitting on 3 or 4 goals right now and 3 really nice fixtures in the next 4. It made perfect sense to me

He MUST start , without him they are half a team , and Koeman knows it . His injury was nothing serious last week, and prior to that he looked amazing. He is class and its a matter of time for him to explode.
I mean , they are playing Norich at home , Norich .....

I would never do it for -4 , but its up to you .

Probably, but my brain says chase the differential captain and my gut says DON'T BET AGAINST KUN

Aguero as he has penalty-taking duties in his arsenal too

Both good options but what do you prefer?

Silva + Gomis or Yaya + Benteke

      Neither, but Bournemouth more likely

I don't reckon either will but i'd go Bournemouth due to home advantage.

    What are people ranked atm?

I don't consider myself a bad player, generally top 20k but am currently ranked around the 1.8m mark. What would you say is the highest I can realistically expect to finish? 100k maybe?

      don't panic...2 years ago I was 1,050,000 after 5 weeks...after 11 weeks I was top 20k

You're one good week away from top 500k. 20k is very manageable.

      Ranked 148k ATM.

And right now, it's still anyone's spot to win

You can still finish higher than that plenty of time to go and not a lot of points between places yet

As high as you want. Early days. Very few points separate vast sections of the rankings. I went from 2.8mil to 900k last week, expecting a big rise again. Despite the bad start I don't see it differently to any other year.
