As always, we delve into the Gameweek 5 data in our first members article of the week. Arsenal’s midfield and Leicester’s form pair arrive under analysis, whilst we also cast an eye over Everton and West Ham’s playmakers after both guided their respective sides to victory.

How did Pedro go from over 100k in additions after scoring 13 & 7 to being dropped by 25k after last week's game. Did he look that poor? Maybe tired from international play? Haven't had a chance to watch him play. Is he an impactful player or were the first two weeks a fluke?

He looked the sharpest tool in Chelsea's shed the first two games and deserved his points. When the likes of Hazard and Costa start firing I expect he'll only increase his output ... personally i really rate him and he has a lot to play for and seemed hungry. I'm keeping ... and I really hope the faith pays off.

Its all about points, 2pts and even Kun is sold by mass, 15pts and majority will pick even Zamora. Panic all over the place...

Any thoughts on who to play?

    A) Sakho (mci)
    B) Francis (SUN)
    C) Bench both and use FT on Sakho > 9.7 forward other than Gomis. And no, don't want Wilson, Gradel out seriously damaged his appeal.

Not sure i believe in the whole penalties thing - some teams only earn a 2 or 3 per season - a form striker could bag that in one game

I'd probably transfer Sakho > Benteke and stick the amrband on him if i were you.

Otherwise Francis ... although if Kompany is out then there are question marls over City's defensive abilities.

Just finished watching the Juve vs City game. What a cracker from Morata 🙂
Kun didn't look to be such a huge impact when he got subbed on.
I assume it's from not being 100% match fit?

So from Kun's 10 min cameo my thinking is

    - He could still be sub on Saturday, no point risking vs 'smaller' team at home
    - Prob get a 20 mins run about
    - Dont sell obviously and have in your starting 11
    - Dont captain

    Others thinking this way?

could go either way, but definitely agree on not selling or captaining. starting 11 MIGHT be a stretch unless we believe he'll sub on in a lone-striker formation. also wouldn't consider West Ham a smaller team atm..

as a United fan, Shaw's injury has left a bad taste in my mouth (besides the obvious reason) as it pertains to getting DDG in addition to my current Darmian

given his propensity to accumulate yellow cards the only way I am currently considering getting DDG is if I plan to just hold on to Darmian until he hits suspension and then sell..unless of course Rojo shows promising form but I can't understand for the life of me WHY Van Gaal had him sub on for Shaw to play CB and break up the chemistry Blind and Smalling had built up and it makes me start to doubt United's future defensive form if this is to be the setup

    sorry for the run-on

It's a good point though Sinik ... United's defensive resolve was strong and, whilst boring to watch, the 1-0 grinding results were great from a fantasy perspective. Blind has copped a lot of bad press as a CB but you can't argue with their form so far, and the injury just unsettles the whole set-up. It's a shame, I agree with you in that I wouldn't be surprised to see them start shipping goals.

while being shorter and slower, Blind's positional awareness, football intelligence and passing ability made it work alongside Smalling's speed, strength and height (also has shown to have improved his awareness as well).

I don't see Rojo being as good at CB..

agree, I'd have left Blind and Smalling together - at least for that game.

Rojo id no where near as good overlapping though - that's what is going to be missed.
Smalling has been a Beast thus far. Here's hoping Rojo can lift and create a good partnership. Will allow Blind to be attacking.

Blind isn't the quickest but I suppose it'll just put more offensive responsibility on Young/Memphis as Blind will sit back more ala Darmian. will hurt our attack.

He's not confirmed out yet ... hold your horses.

definitely don't get Cresswell, and Sagna is at risk of losing his spot when Zabaleta returns ... so probbaly Mangala if i had to chose. But then ... if Kompany is fit it could be Mangala who makes way when Otamendi gets a run.

Save your transfer for now i think.

Long time listener first time caller.

With the Shaw injury I need to replace one of my two top-tier defenders. I don't want to take a hit; my preference would be to switch to a City defender given their fixtures and underlying stats, but with Kompany's status and their depth, I am leaning towards a Liverpool defender (again, stats + fixtures).

The question is Lovren or Clyne? Gomez I don't trust to hold his spot long-term, Skrtel too expensive for his low penalty area touches.

Full squad: (Ai, my keepers ...)

    Ruddy / Butland
    Huth / Koscielny / Shaw / Dawson / Fernandez
Sanchez / Sterling / Mahrez / Kouyate / Ritchie (sigh)
    Aguero / Benteke / Deeney

Looking at Liverpool is very short termest indeed. Honestly I think you need to get on the Kolarov train and if you're unsettled by the potential return of Clichy ruining Kolarov then get Mangala instead.

I'm really surprised at the unanimity here. From what I see:

        - Liverpool are top 5 in shots allowed in box
        - MC are first in shots allowed in box
        - Liverpool's next two fixtures are great, but even looking across their next 10 fixtures it's not the end of the world ... ah oh wait, yes it is.

OK. Alright, you've all made a decent point.

City looks more dangerous this year since they are aiming to regain their title from Chelsea.
With Aguero being their main focal point in that attacking third.
Just because he hasn't had the form to justify his output, jumping to the conclusion that he has declined is a bit absurd.

I would bench Payet. Yes nice game week score and WH vs Arsenal was impressive, but Arsenal are Arsenal and them getting bullied at home is nothing new. The Liverpool away was a great result but man, Lpool defense and defensive mids are about 5 steps down from Man City. I predict a 3 to 4 nil win for Man City

I'd keep Pedro. Barkley's fixtures are rough and I won't be getting him till GW11.

I think it's because Chelsea's upcoming fixtures are tough.

I'd add Southampton too. I think the season ticker underestimates them at the moment.

I've decided to keep Hazard until gw11. ARS, new, SOT, AVL, whm...there have to be a few goals and assists in there!

I'm thinking of Silva out and avoiding City mids. Have Aguero.

I no longer see value in a double up with a crowded midfield of KDB Slva YYT Sterling Navas Nasri. Points and minutes get shared. Their goals output per game has been declining.

Silva will still return well but not 10.2m worth.

Not unusual as nobody has CHE or ARS double ups now.

    Thoughts?

Is anyone else taking some perverse enjoyment about most of our slow starts?

Seems like a bit of a new challenge being 600k plus rank, 'knowing' that over the months you will surely claw back points over those teams who have (C) Kompany for the last 5 weeks.

I cannot believe my earlier post was deleted. When you are in the absurd position where a player with the bizarre selection policy of only choosing black players and calling themselves black united. Not sure how my comment can be considered racist in any way.

Sorry if it offended anyone it was only meant to refer to the best team in the world having this selection policy.

It probably didn't have enough back-story explanation to avoid looking like something offensive. I didn't see the original words.

Swansea have only had 1 CS in 5.
Watford have had 3 in 5
West Brom have had 3 in 5 also

In saying this, is Williams to a Dawson/Evans or Nyom worth a -4?
