As always, we delve into the Gameweek 5 data in our first members article of the week. Arsenal’s midfield and Leicester’s form pair arrive under analysis, whilst we also cast an eye over Everton and West Ham’s playmakers after both guided their respective sides to victory.
How did Pedro go from over 100k in additions after scoring 13 & 7 to being dropped by 25k after last week's game. Did he look that poor? Maybe tired from international play? Haven't had a chance to watch him play. Is he an impactful player or were the first two weeks a fluke?
He looked the sharpest tool in Chelsea's shed the first two games and deserved his points. When the likes of Hazard and Costa start firing I expect he'll only increase his output ... personally i really rate him and he has a lot to play for and seemed hungry. I'm keeping ... and I really hope the faith pays off.
Its all about points, 2pts and even Kun is sold by mass, 15pts and majority will pick even Zamora. Panic all over the place...
And he was good against Everton, cant say a poor performance.
I'm keeping as well. I have him over Sanchez this week as a differential in my league. Hope it pays off.
Thanks all.
Any thoughts on who to play?
A) Sakho (mci)
B) Francis (SUN)
C) Bench both and use FT on Sakho > 9.7 forward other than Gomis. And no, don't want Wilson, Gradel out seriously damaged his appeal.Francis
I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on vardy
I've got him in my WC team atm.
Along with Mahrez! 🙂Don't like the fixtures for a double up, and without pens he doesn't score enough.
Not sure i believe in the whole penalties thing - some teams only earn a 2 or 3 per season - a form striker could bag that in one game
I'd probably transfer Sakho > Benteke and stick the amrband on him if i were you.
Otherwise Francis ... although if Kompany is out then there are question marls over City's defensive abilities.Cheers, am a pool fan myself and can't bare with me if I captain him and he would blank and Liverpool to lose. And with Europa league on thursday I can't see us slaughtering Norwich on sunday. Probably best to save when you haven't got a clue.
Price changes out yet?
Yep, last page
Oops ... thanks mate!
Just finished watching the Juve vs City game. What a cracker from Morata 🙂
Kun didn't look to be such a huge impact when he got subbed on.
I assume it's from not being 100% match fit?10 mins probably didn't help.
I guess it told us he isn't dead yet.
😆
True, definitely not selling.
I guess I should have asked the question a little more clearly 🙂
Was Kun 100% match fit against Juve? or still recoveringHa Slumdog, see below!
if he was 100% match fit why wouldn't he start in a CL group stage match?
Any decent fpl podcasts from anywhere i could listen to this morning? Currently in the middle of a 4 hour drive

Thanks mate
So from Kun's 10 min cameo my thinking is
- He could still be sub on Saturday, no point risking vs 'smaller' team at home
- Prob get a 20 mins run about
- Dont sell obviously and have in your starting 11
- Dont captain
Others thinking this way?could go either way, but definitely agree on not selling or captaining. starting 11 MIGHT be a stretch unless we believe he'll sub on in a lone-striker formation. also wouldn't consider West Ham a smaller team atm..
Agree. Wont get a full run Saturday for sure.
Keep calm and captain Kun? 😉
I bet you the minute i captain someone else he explodes
ok thanks. Nice to get confirmation on my thinking!
agree but no clue who to captain instead
Captain Mahrez anyone? Ive got Wilson too but i think his form edges it for me
As good as other options, I generally prefer to go for player at home
Thinking Wilson...vsing Sunderland
What do you think of
A) Ozil>Ayew and Oxford>Sagna
B) Hazard>Ayew and Oxford>Kolarov
Ruddy; Rudd
Koscielny, Francis, Cedric, Ward, Oxford
Haz, YYT, Ozil, Mahrez, Wanyama
Kun, Tekkers, Sakho
0itb, 2FThow much can you spend if you go oxford - kolarov and ozil - ???
It would have to be a 6.6 mil max midfielder, I like Sako, but I really rate Ayew.
Hmm id much rather have kolarov than sagna - but id also much rather keep hazard than ozil...
Very found of B)
cheers
as a United fan, Shaw's injury has left a bad taste in my mouth (besides the obvious reason) as it pertains to getting DDG in addition to my current Darmian
given his propensity to accumulate yellow cards the only way I am currently considering getting DDG is if I plan to just hold on to Darmian until he hits suspension and then sell..unless of course Rojo shows promising form but I can't understand for the life of me WHY Van Gaal had him sub on for Shaw to play CB and break up the chemistry Blind and Smalling had built up and it makes me start to doubt United's future defensive form if this is to be the setup
sorry for the run-onIt's a good point though Sinik ... United's defensive resolve was strong and, whilst boring to watch, the 1-0 grinding results were great from a fantasy perspective. Blind has copped a lot of bad press as a CB but you can't argue with their form so far, and the injury just unsettles the whole set-up. It's a shame, I agree with you in that I wouldn't be surprised to see them start shipping goals.
while being shorter and slower, Blind's positional awareness, football intelligence and passing ability made it work alongside Smalling's speed, strength and height (also has shown to have improved his awareness as well).
I don't see Rojo being as good at CB..at least not good enough before our next CL game
agree, I'd have left Blind and Smalling together - at least for that game.
Rojo id no where near as good overlapping though - that's what is going to be missed.
Smalling has been a Beast thus far. Here's hoping Rojo can lift and create a good partnership. Will allow Blind to be attacking.Blind isn't the quickest but I suppose it'll just put more offensive responsibility on Young/Memphis as Blind will sit back more ala Darmian. will hurt our attack.
Given the number of chances Chelsea are conceding and the number of chances Arsenal are creating, I see Arsenal scoring, win, lose or draw.
With Kompany out, who should I transfer in; Cresswell, Sagna or Mangala?
Dawson/Nyom/Prodl
Out of those, maybe Mangala. Kolarov? He's not confirmed out yet ... hold your horses.
definitely don't get Cresswell, and Sagna is at risk of losing his spot when Zabaleta returns ... so probbaly Mangala if i had to chose. But then ... if Kompany is fit it could be Mangala who makes way when Otamendi gets a run.
Save your transfer for now i think. You have kolorov?
Yes
Long time listener first time caller.
With the Shaw injury I need to replace one of my two top-tier defenders. I don't want to take a hit; my preference would be to switch to a City defender given their fixtures and underlying stats, but with Kompany's status and their depth, I am leaning towards a Liverpool defender (again, stats + fixtures).
The question is Lovren or Clyne? Gomez I don't trust to hold his spot long-term, Skrtel too expensive for his low penalty area touches.
Full squad: (Ai, my keepers ...)
Ruddy / Butland
Huth / Koscielny / Shaw / Dawson / Fernandez
Sanchez / Sterling / Mahrez / Kouyate / Ritchie (sigh)
Aguero / Benteke / DeeneyLovren should be dropped, whether he will.... who knows.
i think lovren is as risky as gomez if not more so with sakho on the bench. has to be kolarov surely?
Looking at Liverpool is very short termest indeed. Honestly I think you need to get on the Kolarov train and if you're unsettled by the potential return of Clichy ruining Kolarov then get Mangala instead.
I couldnt honestly recommend getting a Lpool defender even with the next 2 fixtures. Go Man City imo
I'm really surprised at the unanimity here. From what I see:
- Liverpool are top 5 in shots allowed in box
- MC are first in shots allowed in box
- Liverpool's next two fixtures are great, but even looking across their next 10 fixtures it's not the end of the world ... ah oh wait, yes it is.
OK. Alright, you've all made a decent point.
La Liga
RMA 4-0 SHK
SEV 3-0 BOR
GAL 0-2 ATM
Premier League
MCI 1-2 JUV
PSV 2-1 MNU
Okay. What was the formation United played yesterday?
I see Young, Memphis, Herrera, Mata, Martial all started.Schweini - Herrera
Young - Mata - Depay
Martial
If I'm not mistaken^ yes
Do you remember RVP's decline season, it was painful to realize his demise from essentiality to a waste of FF cash.
Those that did well that season were the first to act and not dither on past glories.
We are witnessng that this season with Aguero. Act now.
Goodnight.I don't think we are. He still looks sharp.
So did the pain in his knee.
lol this is tosh. Hazard might be declining a bit (not RVP scale mind) but this aint Aguero's year to fall from grace.
Aguero is a lot younger so no
City looks more dangerous this year since they are aiming to regain their title from Chelsea.
With Aguero being their main focal point in that attacking third.
Just because he hasn't had the form to justify his output, jumping to the conclusion that he has declined is a bit absurd.
Start Gomez, Muniesa or Richards. On Gomez atm
gomez
What about a straight up Koscielny>Kolarov? I like Kosc, but I don't see a CS in the next 3 games (che, lei, MUN).
Good shout
Yeah do it
yes
Who would've guessed that John Terry's total score aftr 5 GWs is -1!
I was looking at the Chelsea defence earlier. Who would have thought any of their scores would be so low?
yet pretty much the same price.
Zab back this week-end...any news on his injury?
One more week out according to physioroom
Just one more week of Sagna would be extremely useful to me.
Massive headache here chaps: http://postimg.org/image/vllsce9hn/
1.6itb. I'm thinking
A) Chadli ▶️ Coutinho
B) Ward ▶️ Skrt/Dawson & activate bench boostSeems good, get Dawson
And bench boost it up? I'm very tempted.
The potrntial loss of points selling Chadli and benching Payet this week could hurtI would bench Payet. Yes nice game week score and WH vs Arsenal was impressive, but Arsenal are Arsenal and them getting bullied at home is nothing new. The Liverpool away was a great result but man, Lpool defense and defensive mids are about 5 steps down from Man City. I predict a 3 to 4 nil win for Man City
I'm thinking about transferring out Pedro and bringing in Barkley and bank the difference. Thoughts?
quite like barkley but pedro probably worth keeping - no one else you could lose?
My other midfielders are Silva, Mahrez, Ayew and Payet.
think you would be putting too many eggs in the mid-priced bracket. would only bring in barkley if you lost faith in ayes or payer
I'd keep Pedro. Barkley's fixtures are rough and I won't be getting him till GW11.
Alot of ppl transferring out pedro.. Dont get why? The one blank?
Rumours of an injury ... wait and see after tonight's CL tie methinks.
I think it's because Chelsea's upcoming fixtures are tough.
Not really, just Arsenal
I'd add Southampton too. I think the season ticker underestimates them at the moment.
I don't like the colour codes. They distract me. Think sway me even when I don't agree. Cbf making my own
I've decided to keep Hazard until gw11. ARS, new, SOT, AVL, whm...there have to be a few goals and assists in there!
3 home games in 4 then re-evaluate for me
I'm thinking of Silva out and avoiding City mids. Have Aguero.
I no longer see value in a double up with a crowded midfield of KDB Slva YYT Sterling Navas Nasri. Points and minutes get shared. Their goals output per game has been declining.
Silva will still return well but not 10.2m worth.
Not unusual as nobody has CHE or ARS double ups now.
Thoughts?I dont think silvas points will decline tbh
I still see YYT as value at his price
Difference is that Chelsea isn't really scoring and Arsenal lacks an effective focal point up front
Where else are we going to spend our money if not a City MF?
Thanks all. Valid points. Indeed the key question is where else to spend?
Is anyone else taking some perverse enjoyment about most of our slow starts?
Seems like a bit of a new challenge being 600k plus rank, 'knowing' that over the months you will surely claw back points over those teams who have (C) Kompany for the last 5 weeks.I'm 2mil+ rank
I honestly think that even at 2m a top 10,000 finish is not out of reach
I am about 90 points off of 10k at the moment.
Over 38 weeks, that should be simple
(182 to around 275)
Yes.
Primarily because I look at my ML leaders ranked in the top 30k and these fellas were the bottom of my ML last season. As a non slow starter, yes I'm perversely enjoying your slow starts 😉
I'm loving it 😛
Shipping both Ozil and Kosc with my 2FT this week would be a huge vote of confidence in Mourinho's ability to beat Wenger...
I wouldnt
Bad decision imo
A) Vardy
B) DioufA
A
I cannot believe my earlier post was deleted. When you are in the absurd position where a player with the bizarre selection policy of only choosing black players and calling themselves black united. Not sure how my comment can be considered racist in any way.
Sorry if it offended anyone it was only meant to refer to the best team in the world having this selection policy.Wtf. I didn't read but knowing your posts and knowing the moderation here I assume it was more power tripping?
It probably didn't have enough back-story explanation to avoid looking like something offensive. I didn't see the original words.
Intent seems to have been less offensiveThanks. Was really weird, I don't get it. Maybe I need to go on a race relations course.
😆
That's it we are sending you on "Go Back to where you came from" to recalibrate your mind and educate a nation through your bigotry 😛Do I have to go back to England?
You do but that's another movie: Alien 4 Pommy Invasion
I guess they were just being ultra cautious. Funny when people can sit about laughing at peoples potentially career ending injuries just fine.
This PC culture we live in
I'm more of a Mac guy tbh
Chortle!
Is that a new pokemon?
Yeah its the evolution of Chuckle
Idk man, sounds like the Squirtle we've all been waiting for
I thought he was the evoloution of Lovren?
I've posted about it before but not got it moderated.
Probably power tripping.had no idea what you were talking about but have just looked up the overall leader board now. tim howard has dual american and hungarian citizenship?

Swansea have only had 1 CS in 5.
Watford have had 3 in 5
West Brom have had 3 in 5 also
In saying this, is Williams to a Dawson/Evans or Nyom worth a -4?Swansea have faced some difficult teams in that time, United, Chelsea
hit no but maybe for free down the line
Swansea are quite reliable when it comes to expected CSes.
Play for the favourable fixtures, bench when not if you're willing to keep.cheers all.
