Christian Benteke is forced off with a hamstring problem just as long-term injury worry Daniel Sturridge finally escapes the Liverpool treatment room. David Silva is pictured in training for City after missing the weekend home loss to West Ham, whilst Bournemouth and Palace have concerns at centre-half in our latest look at the weekend injuries.

Arsenal
Francis Coquelin was replaced at the break after suffering a knee injury during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Chelsea. The midfielder has been ruled out of the midweek Capital One Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur by Arsene Wenger:

“It is a little knee injury. I don’t know how long it will be – certainly not for midweek. I don’t know yet how long.â€

Aston Villa
Tim Sherwood offered up some mixed news on the fitness of two injured Villa recruits. Idrissa Gueye was expected to play on Saturday but is set to see a specialist after suffering a setback in training:

“He’s gone back to France to see a specialist he knows there who he’s confident with, we’re waiting to hear from him today and hopefully he’ll give us some positive news. We thought he was going to play on Saturday but he got injured again in training on Friday with a recurrence of the hamstring injury. It is disappointing because, out of all the players we have brought in, he is the most outstanding one who has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.”

On the positive front, Adama Traore has returned to light training but is doubtful for the Villains’ midweek home cup tie against Birmingham:

“Traore is getting better. He is starting to run outside now. He has the protective boot off. I am just listening to the experts and taking their advice. He is a young player and we have a long season ahead. We don’t want to ruin him for the sake of bringing him back too early. He’s very doubtful for Tuesday.”

Bournemouth
Tommy Elphick – who’d played every minute of Bournemouth’s debut top-flight campaign prior to Gameweek 6 – missed their home encounter against Sunderland with an ankle injury:

“There’s something just not quite right, so it’s needs a little bit of rest and managingâ€

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann sat out the Eagles’ 1-0 defeat at Spurs due to a calf problem and will miss their midweek cup tie against Charlton, but Alan Pardew is confident that it’s not a serious injury:

“I don’t think it (Dann’s injury) is too bad. We missed his experience, to be honest. He did his calf yesterday and we will keep him out of Wednesday.â€

The Eagles boss is also optimistic that Connor Wickham could return from injury in time for the midweek cup encounter.

Leicester City
Nathan Dyer was ruled out of the trip to Stoke as a precaution by virtue of a knee complaint, whilst Claudio Ranieri has confirmed N’Golo Kante was withdrawn with cramp against the Potters.

Liverpool
According to Brendan Rodgers, Jordan Henderson is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury in training:

“It is a big blow because obviously in the last few games we miss a player of that quality. It was just unfortunate. He had a problem with his heel and felt fine, then came in and broke his fifth metatarsal. It is a big blow for us and obviously a big blow for Jordan.â€

Meanwhile, Christian Benteke was substituted at the half with a tight hamstring, though his manager insists the Belgian’s withdrawal was purely precautionary:

“His hamstring felt a little bit tight so there was no point in risking it. We had fresh players on the side.â€

The Reds boss also explained his decision to hand Daniel Sturridge a shock start alongside Benteke against the Canaries:

“I felt it was important to get him on the field. I thought he did well for the hour that he played. He’s still a way off his full fitness but his presence and stature in the game will always give us hope because he’s got big quality. I think it’s just about games for him, building his fitness and there’s no pressure for him to do that.”

Manchester City
Manuel Pellegrini revealed that David Silva missed the Sky Blues’ 2-1 defeat to the Hammers after sustaining a kick to his calf in the warm-ups, while Eliaquim Mangala came off at the break with a muscle injury:

“David has a kick in the calf. He tried to warm up but he felt his muscle was still stiff so he didn’t play. He (Mangala) was injured, a muscle injury.â€

Both Silva and Mangala were spotted in training pictures published on the City website earlier this afternoon, along with Pablo Zabaleta and Samir Nasri.

Manchester United
Red Devils head coach Louis van Gaal expects to be able to call upon Phil Jones’ services in the near future, with the English centre-back stepping us his rehabilitation from a blood clot in his calf:

“I said last week that he was ready to train. And Friday was his first training session with the group. It’s nearly done, but he’s not match fit yet. It’s very early.”

Southampton
Saints boss Ronald Koeman is hopeful that Ryan Bertrand and Jordy Clasie will be back in contention over the next couple of weeks, with the former set to play 60 minutes for Southampton U21s this evening:

“I think we are close to having some players back. The planning for Ryan Bertrand will be that he plays his first 60 minutes on Monday with the Under-21s. Jordy is not as close like Ryan. He will start training with the team from Monday on and maybe takes one week longer. We hope everything is going to go well and that means in one or two weeks both players will be back.â€

Sunderland
John O’Shea sat out the Black Cats’ previous match-up because of illness but is fit to return for a home tie against Man City in the League Cup. Likewise, Wes Brown could make his return against Pellegrini’s men. Duncan Watmore missed the 2-0 loss to Bournemouth but recovered to bag a hat-trick against Man City’s Under 21s yesterday.

Tottenham
Mousa Dembele and Ryan Mason are recovering well from their respective knocks and could feature against Arsenal this week. Alex Pritchard, on the other hand, is yet to fully shake off an ankle knock he picked up during the Euro Under 21s so will play no part in the north London showdown.

West Ham
Cheikhou Kouyate was absent from the Irons’ victory over Man City because of a “minor niggleâ€. Carl Jenkinson was forced off late on in the 2-1 win after picking up a knock.

With the new bonus system massively favouring full backs, and a clean sheet often leading to the likes of sagna and kolarov getting 8 or 9 points plus any attacking returns, is it worth considering having the 2 full backs and dropping one of silva and aguero who have been lacking consistent returns. I'm tempted to bring in sagna and ditch silva with my 2 free transfers. Who would people suggest buying in the middle? got 10m to spend. Thanks!

Seriously think Sagna might hold his place for a while. Remember he also has to cope with Navas on his wing, so he's playing for two people.

Zabaleta on decline last season or two.

I reckon he'll reach about 400 by Saturday.

However when Costa get's his ban and/or Benteke is ruled out then it might well reach 500-600k

Bottomed so re-posting: I'm in deep trouble with the Costa ban...2 FT and 0 ITB

    Butland McCarthy

    Clyne Gomez Kolarov Coloccini Francis

    Redmond Silva Sanchez Mahrez Westwood

    Costa Aguero Wilson

Should I pull the trigger on:

    Costa ---> Ighalo
    Redmond ----> Hazard

? Any other suggested moves that would be better? Feel I need Payet badly and would love a Chelsea def... Can anyone help?

Maybe just Costa out and save 1 FT. You'll again have more informations next week and could do 3 transfers for -4 - like a mini wildcard.

Can't be arsed to check if possible but another option might be to do 3 transfers and get Azpi also while your at it, a -4 is not that much.
Or as above mentions just use 1 ft, though as me I guess you would like to get rid of Redmond.

Yeah, sick of Redmond to be honest. I can't afford Azpi without doing Silva to Payet, but I think the -8 may be worth it. First hits of the season...

Costa and Redmond(4th mid) to KdB and Martial for a hit sound ok?

I have a similar dilemma above. I think a Chelsea def will rake in points over the next few weeks. Also think Haz may be worth it over KDB

Already own Haz though. But I also have Yaya so could get Pedro instead of KdB and thus still be able to get Azpi next week. It feels wrong though as I did Pedro to Haz last week.

    So, maybe something like this:

    GW 7:

    Butland
    Kolarov*, Koscielny, Jagielka
    Sánchez(vc), Yaya Touré*, Payet*, Sako
    Pellè*(c), Gomis, C. Wilson*

Fair enough. Not considering Chelsea in light of their fixtures? They are going to finish in the top 3 for sure, and their revival has to start soon I feel...

I have spent the whole day looking at them, blast it!

Mata came out top over Hazard, with Sako level.

Zouma might be in there, but Sundsy, bloody Sunday ...

I always think when big teams struggle that it can be very profitable to back them before their revival. As they will hit a run of form if we consider that top 3 is almost a certainty...decisions, decisions!

Your'e doing well, and we all benefit from your stats and tools...

I am guessing that you moved Kouyate due to injury. I also would have guessed Cresswell as a new add to your team due to his stats, fixtures, and him being a Hammer. This makes me think you really feel strongly about Jags given that you are more inclined to have Jags than Cresswell.

I've noticed that your defenders suggestions are always good but your picks in the attack.....Falcao and then Mahrez benched 😀

I'm definitely not selling Kun now(wasn't even thinking about that before) but putting Jagielka and Everton's defense on my watchlist!

I know that! But i can't possibly sell Kun now, i just can't see him being fit and on the pitch without scoring for too long. I'm keeping Hazard too for example, just really unsure about Gomis since i've already used my FT.

City's? Yes, he didn't play badly to be honest, he just wasn't as sharp and as quick as he usually is. Yaya, KDB and Navas looked in better form than he his but i'm keeping my confidence with him. I didn't sell Hazard and that turned out well, he's getting his confidence back.

He was awful. And lost his temper.

Hazard was more than lucky, by the way. Therefore, you were, too.

Hazard played a good game and deserved the goal. He was lucky as much as Martial has been "lucky" so far. Aguero was far from awful, he played decently, i think you were too focused on the other team.

    Have Yaya, Silva, Aguero.

Thinking of doing Silva + Gomez > Chelsea mid + Kolarov.

Good move? I'm assuming Silva is fit...

Anyone rational care to talk me out of this please? Sinclair and Costa > Payet and Martial with 2FT and playing AoA this week

    Begovic
    Cresswell, Kolarov
    Sanchez, Payet, Ayew, Shaqiri, Mahrez
    Aguero, Martial, Wilson

    McCarthy, Evans, Gomez, Francis

Looks great on paper but could be a lot of points on my bench and I was hoping to hang onto bench boost. The chip I use hinges on whether Gomez is likely to start.

I'd make those moves but wouldn't use the chip. I think you can get away with benching Ayew this week (I am) and playing Gomez/Evans. Pulis will be on the defensive against a side like Everton and - if I'm not mistaken - Mirallas is suspended? Which would be one less thing to worry about.

Actually if you have a feeling then use it...probably not much point hanging onto it (though some have suggested it may be more useful on Boxing Day, when there is typically a bit of a free-for-all goalfest.

What is the general consensus on hits? -4 okay and -8 too much?
What rationale do you guys use while taking hits?

Surely it doesn't matter if you believe the players will get the points back. My logic was Azpi will likely get a clean sheet and Payet may outscore Silva

Hmm. But if Silva is fit, he could very well score at a par or maybe even more than Payet over the next 3 weeks

True, but he's so expensive and something doesn't seem quite right with him with all the niggling injuries...is the hassle worth it? I'm not sure...

If it has to be done it has to be done. If I'm taking a -8 I would have to be both very unhappy with the players I'm ditching and very excited about the players I was bringing in

Costa very likely to be banned for games right? I'm guessing the swipe at Koscielny wasn't seen and will be deemed a red card offence.
