The first membersโ article of the week arrives this evening as we delve into the data from Gameweek 6. We check in on Chelsea and West Bromโs new attackers, assess Everton and Southamptonโs lone strikers, and cast an eye over Liverpoolโs main performers in light of Brendan Rodgers’ move to a 3-4-1-2 formation at home to Norwich.
Will Falcao or Remy start in the absence of Costa?
Probably whoever starts tonight
Check out the dress rehearsal tonight.
Ayew(sot) or Cedric(SWA). The latter is certain to start this week imo
Ayew
Correct, but if Cedric starts, then there is more chance of Swansea (Ayew) scoring ๐
Ahah! Good call
Although Cedric was more successful at getting clean sheets than Yoshida so I'm not so sure.
Cedric has been shown up speed wise by Kone and Lukaku even at home.
Montero will be tricky for him and with those balls that Jonjo and Siggy love to play....I think Cedric will be very exposed this GW given he's always looking to attack.Montero does like to embarrass attacking RB's so that is an interesting point.
Everton and Swansea drew 0-0 last week though and for some reason i consider Southampton to be a very similar team to Everton. I'm not sure if others feel the same way. That's a good point. I was worried about Everton being in good form so I benched Naughton, but one poster (can't rmbr who) advised that we will never know which EVE shows up and suggested I play Naughton.
Needless to say I didn't follow his advise and was made to pay for it.
Ayew against Targett could get interesting and messy. I'd play the attacking player Ryan - Southampton haven't looked good defensively against attack-minded teams.
Are Swansea attacking minded though? they've blanked in their last two games.
Depends on your definition of attacking minded I guess. To me they are but very reliant on the form of Jonjo and Siggyy. Like I mentioned above, they're not the type of team that consistently attacks all game long with take-ons and crosses, but Jonjo and Siggy will always be looking for clever through balls instead of square passes, with Ayew/Gomis/Montero working the channels
I see what you are saying. Yep, a fair point.
Ayew, SWA have blanked a few times in a row now I think, don't see it happening again
Ayew. If Cedric does play he will be up against Montero, which won't be easy.
Always the midfielder for me.
Fair call everyone. Wasn't sure whether to expect goals in this game but I suppose its likely.
Ayew if you don't own Gomis, Cedric if you do
Is zouma nailed on, or will cahill and terry continue as CBs?
All three will rotate.
I guess get Azpilli or get Zouma and accept your fateRotation among all 3 depending on opponent I would say.
Bego/Azpi/Ivan safest for now. He's played the last 4 games in the prem. most here say he's not nailed on though.
Thanks all ๐
Hi all.
WC still open. Input?
Myhill McCarthy
Kola Azpi Dawson Francis Targett
Sanchez KDB Payet Mahrez Westwood
Kun Martial (c) Ighalo.
0.2 ITB
Shipped YYT and got in KDB after yesterdays impressive performance.
Westwood leaves me the option of not stressing all week on which of the 5 midfielders to bench, but still plays (and is on set/pens - corredct?).
Cheers.azpi to zouma?
Targett needs to go with Bertrand coming back, unless your heart is set on a very cheap DEF.
Also not a fan of Payet & Mahrez, think you'll need 3 big hitters (Hazard) in there if you're on a WCConsider upgrading Targett as he may not be nailed for much longer.
Consider swapping Sanchez for Hazard
But to do those moves you would need more than 0.2. Not sure if there are any mids below 4.5 you could replace Westwood with in order to generate a bit more cash.
Rest looks v good.
Anyone know when we will find out if Kompany will be fit for Spurs game?
Demi highlighted a tweet last night that said he would be.
But how trusted are reporters?Very true, I think I'm going to stick because its best long term option in City's defence as well.
if anyone knows that Diouf will be able to play this week?
Yep seems likely now
Score predictions for Spurs vs MCity?
1-2
0-2
1-2
0-3
I am a little bit in the dark as to what to do from a transfer perspective. Annoyingly I have no nothing ITB, but I do have 2 FTs.
Mignolet (McCarthy)
Kolarov Williams Azpi (Bassong Richards)
Sanchez Silva Payet Mahrez (Westwood)
Kun Gomis Sakho
Would like to get in Hazard in place of Alexis, but 0.3 short. A number of ways to finance it, but not sure which way to go. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.Sakho -> Wilson/Ighalo?
Thanks. Yes, one I have been pondering as well, but loathed to get rid of Sakho due to West Ham's upcoming fixtures. I guess Payet could be sufficient "cover" but since West Ham are among the top scorers in the league, I don't mind having 2 from them.
I have to second this. To me Sakho isn't in form, his goal at the weekend was just a scrappy scrambled attempt. I think Payet is enough and Wilson/Ighalo are both in form and extremely good value.
Good point, I watched the City game and Sakho seemed to spend more time on the floor than on his feet. Actually, selling him for Ighalo gives me enough to switch Silva for Hazard and leave Sanchez for one more week. Cheers.
Silva to haz and gomis to bojan or ighalo?
Thanks, yes, looks decent, although Gomis' stats still look relatively strong. Guess is depends how much I want Hazard, although I do prefer getting rid of Sanchez rather than Silva (depending on fitness). City's fixtures still look ridiculous up until GW12.
Bassong > 4.0 unless you really want 5 playing defenders.
Thanks Shifty, one I hadn't considered, cheers.
Bassong to Watford defender?
One of your strikers > Ighalo to raise some cash for the future or just some housekeeping like Bassong > Nyom/Francis.
Thank you both for your input. Bassong is annoying I agree and downgrading a striker to free up funds does look inevitable.
i wouldnt do alexis to hazzard this week
Could come and bite me on the bazoobies; may keep him and sell Silva instead. Thanks.
Mignolet to Myhill/Butland?
Thanks, Thinking of doing that next week or the week after.
Have we had an update on Kompany?
His status has changed this morning to 75%Check the stickies, there were a few quotes from Pellegrini suggesting it's possible that he's fit for the weekend.
my thoughts for this week are Costa out Martial in and albrighton out with payet in. i will be taking a 4 point hit and captaining Martial any thoughts on my starting 11 this week. I am also debating going all out attack.
Butland
Sagna Cameron
Couthinio Payet yaya Hollahan Hazard
Martial (C)l Kun WilsonIt's a superb front 8. I would certainly make that switch.
Which one?
Martial
IgahloI've just brought in the ig. Main reason being it gives me the cash to get hazard in without a hit next week.
Martial
If you don't need the cash, United will score a lot more goals than Watford and given United's current situation up front I'd back Martial to get a good share. Sun(H) also best fixture of the season.
Redmond ? Keep or drop ?
Drop. Other mids around that price. Grealish for me.
Just realised Bolasie has fallen to 6.2 ๐ฏ .. nearly criminal to overlook him at that price.. I'm gonna hope he blanks and drops 0.1 again and get him in next week ๐
Palace early fixtures have been so bad. But he's nailed when fit and I'm certainly monitoring him. Potential mahrez swap when his fixtures get evil. Although he's undropable currently.
Sako at 5.6 has better stats and points.
That is usually the case when a player plays 4 full games more
*Sorry.. 2 games.. but same point
Puncheon at 5.9 though. He's someone you've earmarked before - don't forget!
Yup.. but he has been playing really poorly unfortunately and Bolasie was 0.5 more back then and was in doubt to start the season. Giving it a week to decide anyway. Him/Sako and Bolasie all look like grand options really.
i've bought in everyone else i earmarked btw.. from Wilson ๐ to Shelvey ๐
Good form! Haven't seen enough of Palace to make a decision though.
Problem is Sako looking very sharp at just 5,6
I'd suggested that Sako over performed the first 2 games since nobody really knew he was and they tried their best to mark Zaha/Puncheon etc leaving a lot of space for him to work in.. Just check the space he had to play in vs both Chelsea and Villa. Now that they are showing him the respect he deserves he's quietened down.
Didn't he nearly score vs Spus when Lloris touched a vicious shot onto the post?
I still don't rate him that highly.
Does anyone consider Zouma for Chelsea def coverage? He fits in nicely in my team in terms of price, but im worried that Azpi will bring in the bonus points while Zouma is left with 6 pointers.
I've advised against him but maybe I'm wrong. I just think even if he's first choice now, given how strong Cahill and Terry are, he will face rotation and it'll be very inconvenient.
You're worried for 6 pointers? ๐
Will Zouma rotate with Terry?Yes, i allready have Dawson who is allergic to bonus points. And of course, there is a rotation risk there as well.
Hazard or Pedro ?
If funds allow, Hazard.
Biggest selling point is pen kickerWe saw what happend last PK he took (against maccabi Tel Aviv)..
Benching dilemma:
Sanchez (lei) - Silva (tot) - Mahrez (ARS) - Ayew (sou) - Payet (NOR)
Kun (tot) - Vardy (ARS) - Ighalo (CRY)
Want to bench Vardy before Ayew. Agree?yes
One of those two certainly. Touting call but year, vardy probably the right one.
Bench Ayew imo
RTM agrees with you
Yeah i'd bench Vardy too
Hi Guys any pointers for me please
Current:
Schmeichel [Pantillimon]
Cresswell Francis Kolarov Cédric [Huth]
Mané Mahrez Payet Ayew [Silva]
Wilson Agüero Gomis
Toying with getting in either Azpi, Dawson, Myhill Butland and Martial over time
can I get away with doing just one of these at a time over the next few weeks or would you WC?
My GK situation is dire this week and i'm getting the fear over missing out on martial for this week. How much in bank? Don't wild card. It's a decent side you've got there.
Maybe just do cedric to Dawson, or pant to myhill this week
Would you use all out attack with this team?
Begovic
Kompany Evans
Sanchez(vc) De Bruyne Payet Mahrez Sako
Aguero(C) Gomis Wilson
McCarthy Francis Martin MuniesaI'd wait until GW 9 or a DGW buddy as suggested by Jonty in his pre season discussion.
not sure that AOA is that great a chip, certainly not one for a DGW. The other chips are better for that
"Arguably, though, this chip has the potential to frustrate Fantasy managers. Only seven midfielders and six forwards managed double-figure hauls during last season’s doubles, compared to five keepers and 15 defenders." DGW can be profitable for defenders as well..
I have the exact front 8 and am playing it along with Damian and Kolarov
What did Jonty say? What's significant Bout a dgw in regards to this chip and also what a
Does gw 9 have that is significant
GW 9 being; MCI at home to BOU, CHE at home to VILLA and ARS at WAT. big week for the big teams.
That would mean making sure I have filled my team with attacking players from those teams...I'm considering strongly this week due to my defence playing tough fixtures with low chance of clean sheets
Id go for it. Not a great chip for DGW
ARS at WAT.. Ugh
why are people shipping ayew and gomis?
don't own either but seems a strange one to me...First, Swansea isn't worth two attackers in the team.
Second, usual inconsistency problem with them.Nah - it's just impatience after seeing their bandwagons blank for 2 weeks.
But I believe that was supposed to happen. Swansea doesn't really show consistency in their attack
Your point about 2 attackers from SWA is definitely true. But they've shown enough promise to warrant at least 1.
2 words Payet and Martial ๐
Yeah its a huge reversal of a bandwagon after just two blanks, one of which they had numerous chances in. I only own gomis but no plans to get rid of him given he's still nailed and Swansea fixtures short term are fine.
agree I'm actually looking at getting one or both of them in...
Swansea stats have dropped in recent weeks (allegedly - I've not bothered to check). It's mostly the emergence of what seem to be better or more 'in' options like Payet and Martial.
Got to move on. Gomis wasnt a season keeper. Take his pints and price rises and get on the next one
And points
the next one being?
Would you rather Gomis or Martial?
Waiting for my training to start at work (yawn). Anyone need any advice? (cant promise it will be any good :D)
I should retain Sterling right?
Indeed you should. Will be a lottery each week as to who scores points for them but he will rack up some tidy scores imo
I guess yeah otherwise him and Coutinho to Pedro and Payet next week.
Please ๐
Sanchez(C) or Martial(C)?
Aguero lurking on the wings too...Well given that Aguero and Sanchez continue to let us down i think you can justify the Martial option considering Sunderlands defence.
even if Aguero or Sanchez do well you still get there points and they are more highly owned then Martial so the Martial move has the most chance for significant rise in rankWell, higher ownership on Martial comp to Sanchez now ๐
Really? Gosh!
Any decent horror films worth a watch? Less popular would be good.
It follows
Heard unfriended is ok but not seen it yet
Been out of the loop for a while sozCheers Dis, will deffo check it out laters.
Martyrs
Too many films with this title, perhaps the year of making could help me?
Gomez (AVL) vs Richards (liv)?
Gut says RichardsWell i would start Gomez in the hope he starts, if he dosent you get Richards anyway right?
cant see a cameo from him unless there is an injury
is McCarthy still worth getting, or too much of a risk?
A risk given Padrews comments. Plus they dont keep clean sheets. Avoid for me.
Of all the options out there this weekend, who do you think is the best captain?
Even though he has struggled in front of goal and i doubt he will play 90 i still think Aguero has the highest ceiling the way City are creating chances at will.
If i had KDB or Silva was starting i like them too.
Away from City im thinking Hazard / Pedro at the momentYou don't think Martial is a good option against Sunderland?
I do but as a United fan i dont trust us to do well lol
I feel the same way. You always want to be able to trust your captain and the team he plays for.
Indeed.
Perhaps im being to pessimistic but United are struggling for chances and shots although Sunderland will do their best to help.
Is bringing in Hazard to captain this week stupid?
As good a week as any.
Slight ounce of form, playing one of the worst sides in the league.
Cleansheet point looks likely if nothing else ๐That's a depressing sentence to read about an 11m+ midfielder!
Best keeper to replace Pantilimon with on Sky?
Adrian / Gomes
Would say Myhill but it would be another sub in the future probablyThanks Disable, that was my one worry about Myhill or Begovic.
Heres my def, i need some advice!
Kolarov, Cedric, Martin, Gomez and Targett
With Targett, Gomez and Cedric all at risk i've got some sorting!
I'm thinking about taking a -4 and need to transfer two out.
Which two is the question?
I'm also thinking of replacing them with Azpilicueta and CresswellDon't take a hit on your defence.
2 FT next week then do itThat's fine - Which ones should i transfer next week (Providing everything remains true) and which ones should i start this week?
How much ITB? Targett and Gomez need to be shipped out first IMO. And don't take a hit
3.1m ITB
Targett > Evans/Dawson would be my first move
Azpilicueta , Cresswell or Dawson but do them over the next few weeks if you can.
Do we think Ben Davies (TOT) is nailed on now? At 4.5 could be a good bargain.
Looks pretty nailed on to me. Rose has hardly got a look in.
However, fixtures aren't appealing at allI like the look of Dier personally.
In midfield, great aerial threat and may get some decent BPS
Who is more important to have for this week?
1) Payet
2) De Bruyne
3) SterlingPayet I thjnk
A
1
2
Play Evans or Prodl this week?
Evans
+1
Was Lukaku to Martial a bad move? Regretting it now, should have been Gomis out I think..
bad, very short term move
You won't know until after the weekend ๐
G2G for this GW (assuming no injuries tonight!)?
Butland (McCarthy)
Darmian Kolarov Williams (Richards / Huth)
Pedro Payet Mahrez Sanchez (Westwood)
Aguero Wilson Martial (C)
Had 2Fts, did:
Silva -> Payet
Gomis -> Martial
1.6m ITB, WBA Defender of KDB next on my agenda.
CheersLooks good !
So you think Silva wont play? Not sure, but I can't have 10m plus on my bench 3 weeks running, had 2 FTs so decided to shift. Probably would have kept if I just had the 1FT and got Martial in.
chances of Silva playing on weekend?
So annoying as I sold Haz for Silva last week! now looks like I need to swap back! GRRRDon't worry he'll start for sure.
thanks all !
fingers crossed then
Has anyone got any more footy/sports books for me? We had a good little book club going last night:
http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/11334884Alex Ferguson's new book ๐
Cheers YMA, it looks saucy!
Cantona: The Rebel Who Would Be King
El Diego (by Diego Maradona)Thanks Beavis, I'll have a look at these.
A Season with Verona - Tim Parks
The Miracle of Castel di Sangro by Joe McGinniss
are both great.
or... Striker by Steve Bruce (the reviews are a wonderful read!)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Striker-Steve-Barnes-Bruce/dp/1841990116Recommended the Verona one myself. Think i have red it 3 times at least, rare for me to re-read
I've heard good things about A Season with Verona, that can definitely go on my wishlist, I'll have a look at the others too.
๐ฎ The reviews on Striker are A.Mazing.
yep. Obviously not going to actually read the book though!
The Year of the locusts - amazing boxing book that Paddy Considine is making into a film
Whats everyone's thoughts on Zouma?
Hasn't been talked about much, but could it be a good way into the Chelsea defense? He is, if you don't mind the odd 0mins
not nailed is the problem, Terry will come back in
He'll play a fair deal and has decent attacking threat.
I like my defenders to be nailed, he's not nailed on, even in the short term.
Payet (c) a good shout this week?
oh eye
