I feel like lawyers abuse Anchoring bias a lot.
But lawyers aren't trying to make a complete and accurate argument, they're just trying to get people to accept the argument that best serves their client. Biases probably help as most struggle to see through them
true, but what I meant is that I feel like they abuse the notion of briefly mentioning items that the judge then instructs them to disregard, which of course is difficult/impossible to do.

What I was getting at is that provided you aren't getting him in for his current conversion rate or because you're a Utd stan then there are very good reasons to go with him. at 8m in a position that rooney was expected to fill at the beginning of the season, at the spearhead of a team like Utd, price rises, etc...(although none of these factors alone are sufficient) I'll admit it is a slightly punt pick (disclaimer: I brought him in on a FT) but you've got to have fun.
