We’re covering Premier Punt‘s Champion’s League offering this week, with a run down of some of the players from the 32 teams involved that are worth considering. There are weekly games available that include all 16 clashes, daily games that cover either Tuesday or Wednesday’s fixtures and, finally, single game contests for each match. The unique selection criteria and rules for the latter were looked at in last week’s Premier Punt focus.

Here’s who has caught our eye for the next two evening’s fixtures, with our recommendations broken down by player classification…

The Defence

Bayern Munich have conceded just three goals in seven league clashes and another shut-out looks possible as they welcome Dinamo Zagreb. The German side’s full-back Jerome Boateng, at 6.8m, is significantly cheaper than David Alaba (8.2m), while Juan Bernat (6.3m) offers the option of a cheap double-up amongst Bayern’s backline.

Real Madrid’s Marcelo (6.8m) and Roma’s Lucas Digne (5.7m) are two raiding left-backs that could provide points at both ends of the pitch.

Digne’s team-mate Morgan De Sanctis should start in goal against BATE as first choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny is sidelined. Zenit St Petersburg also look well set for a clean sheet with Belgian side KAA Gent visiting the Russian champions. Full-back Domenico Criscito is available for 5.7m and goalkeeper Juri Lodygin will set you back 6.8m for the home side.

The Midfield

In midfield, Mohamed Salah (9.0m) looks good value for Roma and has scored in his last three Serie A appearances. His opponents BATE look decidedly shaky in Europe and were beaten 4-1 in their Champions League opener against Bayer Leverkusen.

Angel Di Maria (14.8m) appears to have adapted well to life in Paris with three strikes in four outings for PSG as they travel to Shakhtar Donetsk. This match could see plenty of goals, with the Ukrainian side netting 15 times in their last five matches – Alex Teixeira (10.1m) is our pick from their midfield, with 10 goals in eight league outings this term. Kevin De Bruyne (10.8m) is Manchester City’s in-form player as they travel to a Monchengladbach side that are 14th in the Bundesliga with only six points from seven matches.

The Forwards

In the forward positions, we’re going to look at some alternatives to obvious big-hitters Cristiano Ronaldo (16m), Robert Lewandowski (15.9m) and Luis Suarez (16m).

Porto’s Vincent Aboubakar can be picked up for only 8.9m ahead of Chelsea’s visit. He has four goals in six league outings as well as a brace in the Champions League opener against Dynamo Kiev and will look to profit from the Blues’ struggles in defence. The Portuguese side are unbeaten in their last 13 home league ties and the last seven Champions League matches in front of their own supporters.

Antoine Griezmann (12.7m) has three goals in as many home matches for Atletico Madrid in La Liga and also scored a brace against Galatasaray in the Champions League. The Frenchman now welcomes Benfica to the Vicente Calderon.

Seydou Doumbia (10.8m) has seven goals in eight appearances in all competitions for CSKA Moscow as PSV Eindhoven travel to the Russian capital.

Arsenal welcome Olympiakos to the Emirates and Theo Walcott (13.5m) is set to start with fellow striker Olivier Giroud suspended. Walcott has two goals in three league outings and also netted against Zagreb in the first round, while opponents Olympiakos conceded 71% possession against Bayern in a 3-0 loss – a repeat of which would play to the Gunners’ strengths.

Anthony Martial has had a promising start at Manchester United and is a perfect budget enabler at only £6.3m. Opponents Wolfsburg have conceded six goals in the last two matches, so could have a difficult time when they visit Old Trafford tomorrow evening.

When starting XI appears for UCL games? And what that deadline clock means? Looks like everybody can wait and see starters then make transfers 😮

Yes, we get to see the lineups but the site used to crash last year by that time.. Lineups come out in about 2 hours.

How does my UCL team look? G2G?

    De Sanctis - Lodygen
    Bernat-Digne-Dragovic-Rafinha-Criscito
    DiMaria-Sneijder-Teixiera-Gusev-Talisca
    Ronaldo-Muller-Martial

Question for the initiated. I see that Hazard and Aguero may be going down in value tomorrow (FFFix). Would it be beneficial on a WC to play the market and sell both before they drop for two players on the rise in the same night and then buy back at their new discounted price? I want both in my final squad but if there is some value in doing that wouldn't it be worth it?

    Please explain

If you've already activated the WC, then yeah you can sell them and buy back. Be careful selling Aguero if you got him before his latest rise though.

depending on what you bought them at, it sometimes makes sense to sell them anyway and buy anyone who isn't going to drop, then buy them back once they've dropped

Not totally clear here - are you already on a wildcard? If yes, then definitely get rid of them until their prices have dropped and then buy them back cheaper.

You can also temporarily buy players you don't want if it looks like their price will rise twice. Then you can sell them for a 0.1 profit and get in the players you eventually want. Not sure if any players will rise twice this week though.

Do you already have Vardy? Wouldn't you want to keep him?

I think he's already risen once this week though so to make profit by bringing him in now, he'd have to rise twice more. I'm not sure he will do that.

How do you guys reckon Barkley will perform in the next 3 LIV, MUN, ars?

I'm wanting to do Ayew > Barkley. Would preferably like to do it before another price rise though. That .2 will = 2.0 ITB, which would be useful in getting rid of both Targett & Oxford.

Essentially that Silva can have a negative affect on Aguero, and that KDB's direct play will create more space for Kun to operate in. It doesn't mention the fact that Navas has also been absolutely shocking as far as crossing into the box is concerned.

The Swans have good fixtures coming up. But they don't seem to be firing on all cylinders.

Hey, Doos! You seem to be the master at taking hits and them working out. If I were to fancy one, where do you see it being most beneficial?

Thoughts greatly appreicated - have been having lots of trouble moving up in rank largely due to 6 out 7 captaincy fails and -8 last week (Benteke, Ward, Silva > Sakho, Prodl, KDB)...needed to take a hit but shouldn't have taken a -8.

Here is my team moving forward into GW8. Already made the move from Wilson to Vardy.

      EITHER:

      Pedro to Walcott/Payet

      OR:

      Agüero to Sturridge/Pellè

Right biatches, the site is so horrible, I can't face having to navigate through miles and miles of lists, which no team breakdown and about three filter options.

Therefore UEFA CL bargains please, couple in each position.

    Big please and thank you....

It really is the worst ever, but working of the premise that only about 50 people will enter, 25 playing by Xmas, 10 by SFs, and best out of five wins 😀

Hate the site with a passion 😆

I think Sakho has actually outscored Wilson over the period

Vardy is the obvious choice but West Ham's fixtures are just as nice and they're just as attacking, and I don't have Payet

yeah I made the same mistake with Sakho that I did with Austin last year

Got to be a response from City this weekend. I doubt they would lose 3 PL games on the trot.

This is my reasoning for Aguero (C). Can't work out whether this is actual Logic, or just a gut feeling. I've not captained Aguero for weeks, but this just seems too plump to ignore.

      • 10 Years

Same feeling to me. I think that 3 defeats in a row will not happen. Aguero and other city players will work hard and to be at their best in the game vs newcastle. It will be a good chance for us to have a good haul from captaining aguero.
