Sometimes, even those Fantasy managers who factor in form above all else are forced to revise their approach by the machinations of the Premier League fixture computer.

One of those sometimes is now.

Everton’s run of opponents, right up until the end of the year, is nothing short of extraordinary.

Beginning with the weekend’s Goodison Park meeting with struggling Sunderland, Roberto Martinez’s men avoid all of last season’s top eight clubs between Gameweek 11-19.

Sunday’s encounter is the first of five home matches in a run that has Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Stoke drop in on Merseyside. Around the home comforts, the Toffees travel to face West Ham, Bournemouth, Norwich and Newcastle – a less than daunting menu of away trips.

Suddenly, Fantasy managers are scanning Martinez’ squad and attempting to decipher the key targets and the optimum time to draft them in.

In this latest article for members, we’ll attempt to tackle this subject head on. Firstly, by analysing Everton’s current form in detail, before assessing their major performers and weighing up the merits of investment ahead Saturdays Gameweek 11 deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Better chance for a clean sheet this week:

    A) Watford (WHU)

    B) Leicester (wba)

Not much of an investment (Simpson at 3.9), but some injuries might force me to play him or Nyom. (Don't worry, I'm shoring up the D next week.)

I've got both and am going KDB. Obviously both are good choices

I literally flipped a coin between Sanchez and Vardy last week. Came up tails (Vardy) which got me 10 points vs 4 lol probably won't do that again though

I did the same (Vardy over Sanchez), but lost my head-to-head on here when Vardy got the yellow and lost his bonus points.

2 FT's and considering DDG over Smalling. Anybody else tempted to get him in with the bad WBA fixture run about to happen? I would be taking out deadweight McCarthy and leaving Myhill there for when the fixtures turn good again.

The only thing bothering me about this Gw13 WC is the impending price rises of the players I'll want in my team in the Gw13/14 WC. Any SV I accumulate by then I assume will just be negated by the various .1m increases from the players I may want. (i.e VVD, Moreno, Özil, Everton, & GK's).

I think Ayew actually is making a valid point. I admit to planning my transfers a good five to six weeks out. But, inevitably, what I thought I'd want to do never ends up being what I end up doing. Players get injured, a current player I have stays hot and I'm not willing to transfer him out, etc. There are so many things that can happen.

This is what a really meant, obviously you are going to want most of the same players but you cannot predict what happens between now and then that changes your perspective on a player

Well sure, but given the corresponding fixtures & assuming the teams/players perform accordingly, you'd expect assets from said teams to gain popularity & subsequently increase in price. I just gave examples, I'm pretty certain I'll want Saints, Spurs, Arsenal, United & Everton assets on my WC.

That's fair. If you are that concerned, why aren't you just wildcarding now?

It's a slight concern, just an annoyance, apart from a little value issue the Gw11 WC has lost alot of it's potential.

    2. Zasa
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

In essence the Gw13/14 may just be more expensive overall considering the likely 5th mid (Palace, Newcastle, Milner) & 3rd forward options are all more expensive than Mahrez &/or Ighalo/Vardy. Not to mention with the fixture swing for Everton, Man United, Saints & Spurs, naturally if they perform as expected their assets will be sought after & there are only so many you can acquire.

      1. tm245
        • 14 Years

Interesting to go by fixtures instead of team need for your WC. Why not wait until the Christmas pile up?

        1. Zasa
          • 11 Years
          10 years, 4 months ago

I think there's more potential in restructuring my team with ease with Agüeo on my side & planning a safe backline with a good bench to last a good while. In theory a well invested bench should negate that Christmas pile up (obviously circumstances will change ie injury), safe picks like DDG instead of Jones or Moreno instead of Simpson should ease that dilemma.

I don't think a wildcarder can ignore the current & impending fixture swings involving most top teams, there's only so many transfers you have to cover your weak spots.

      1. Zasa
        • 11 Years

Aye, plus others, a slight concern but hopefully a Kolarov haul by then gets his SV up to somewhat negate the rises of VVD/Moreno.

More concerned about forwards rising tbh, plus throw-in Agüero in tandem....

Yep there's a lot to consider. Are you planning on shifting Mahrez on your wildcard?

I'm also thinking of sticking with 3-5-2 with Ighalo as my 3rd forward

On a Gw13/14 WC, he's penned to be a gonner on my side. There's no telling how he'll do leading up to Gw14, but assuming he's on the wane, I'll probably switch to a Palace mid or maybe Milner if he's starting on the wing.

Yep I agree. I can ether get Wanyama if I want to play 3-4-3 or go for a Palace mid if I want to stick with 3-5-2.

Which Palace mid you thinking? Cabaye has been the best so far but seems a tad reliant on penalties

Cabaye for now, I haven't seen enough of the other Palace mids as consistent players to warrant a spot tbh. Hopefully it'll change by then 😉

Playing AOA this week, would love some help on selecting which defenders to start and which player to captain:

    Myhill(LEI)
    Cresswell(WAT) Alderweireld(TOT)
    Sanchez(SWA) De Bruyne(NOR, VC) Mane(BOU) Payet(WAT) Mahrez(WBA)
    Bony(NOR) Pelle(BOU, C) Vardy(WBA)
    Bench: McCarthy(MUN) Bellerin(SWA) Dawson(LEI) Oxford(WAT)
0 FT, 2.8m in the bank.

Who should I captain? And which defenders should start? Cheers guys! 😀

His injury record is the bigger concern here, IMO. I wouldn't be too confident relying on a notoriously injury prone player as my third/fourth defender going into Christmas rotation. I just see more harm than good here tbh, would rather go for a safer DDG pick or just Toby/Dier.

Not sure on that one, I prefer Moreno in the longer term, just. More attacking threat & I think Klopp will use him effectively on the counter.

Morning DZ. Would appreciate some advice folks, been away most of the week.

Have 2 FTs and am open to using both.

    A)
    Ayew to Sterling OR Eriksen
Costa to Bony OR Lukaku OR Kane...and bench one LEI attacker

    B) Costa > Bony/Lukaku/Kane and save the other FT. Play both LEI attackers.

    Much appreciated! Current team below

    Begovic
    Kolarov Skrtel Dawson
    Sanchez Mane Payet Mahrez Ayew*
    Costa* Pelle Vardy

    Hi DZ, thoughts below?

    Schmeichel
    Monreal, Evans, Prodl
    Sanchez, Mata, Ozil, Mahrez
    Lukaku, Pelle, Ighalo

    Butland, Francis, Anya, Gomez

    1FT, 6.8m

Feel like Gomez must go now, liking the look of Bertrand at 5.3, yay or nay?

Both Coleman and VVD are such close picks. Their fixtures are turning good, both provide great attacking threat, Southampton and Everton have conceded the same amount of goals and they are around the same price. Went for Coleman mainly because his fixtures look a lot better long-term.

You're in a such an awkward situation. You want that third City spot open for Yaya but not having De Bruyne could cost you. Perhaps Marital>Lukaku for the long-term.

Mignolet...Liv playing more energetic under Kloop, Costa injured

Great signing in VVD. Still...no Forster and Schneiderlin has costed them at the back.
