After picking up just three points in the opening eight league matches under Dick Advocaat, it was no real surprise to see Sunderland part company with the Dutchman last month. Given that new manager Sam Allardyce has never been relegated from the Premier League, the Wearsiders will be optimistic of yet another great escape, though so far, the jury is out on Big Sam’s start at the Stadium of Light.

Although the former West Ham boss registered a first win and clean sheet of the campaign – courtesy of a 3-0 victory over neighbours Newcastle – their 6-2 thumping at Goodison in the following league fixture brought them firmly back down to earth.

With three losses in his first four fixtures at the helm, then, we assess Allardyce’s impact on Sunderland as they look to build momentum and claw their way out of the bottom three.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Right, no more Firmino-pushing. You guys win, it's too difficult to start any form of bandwagon against ye lot 😛

Main reason I got him was I was 0.1 off Coutinho and wasn't mad on the cheaper options, so rolled the dice on his historical form coming back with Klopp's appointment. We'll see if that was ridiculous.

I'll revisit it for Liverpool v Swansea.

I am proof that any player can effect a turn around

I have had Lukaku for 2 GWs and am considering him for the armband

But so far Firmino has done nothing to justify inclusion in any FPL teams. It has to be bracketed firmly (geddit) in punt territory

2 assists in 2 starts since Klopp joined.

Did nothing under Rodgers but I'm putting that down to Brendan not knowing how to use him.

23 goals and 21 assists in 66 games for Hoffenheim before that.

Do I go all "happiness eggs" in the Everton basket, captain Lukaku and risk enormous joy if we win and he does well/enormous despair if we lose and he blanks, or spread the risk by captaining Kane, and then even if Lukaku outscores him I will at least be happy if it means an Everton win.

I'm aware that this is stupid, but I can't separate them with normal criteria...

captain the player you think will score the most points.

then you need to ask yourself which you think is worse

            a) you (c) Kane and he blanks but Everton win and Lukaku scores

            b) you (c) Lukaku and he (and possibly Everton) blank and Kane gets a brace

That's what I'm asking ahahaha. That's one side of it, and B is obviously worse, but the flip side of it is that captaining Lukaku and being successful would be a much better feeling than captaining Kane and being successful, with Lukaku failing. The Lukaku choice has a higher threshold both positively and negatively.

The ideal scenario of course would be for them both to do well!

Save yourself the pain and go with Kane - most around here have done the same.

If that rhyme doesn't convince you, just captain Lukaku.

The "and possibly Everton" is key here. Fact is Everton could easily win without a Lukaku goal.

In my opinion, purely chose the player you think will score the most points. If it happens to be Lukaku, choose him, and as an Everton, experience jubilation if he does well, and if he blanks, suck it up like we all do when our teams disappoints.

Of the two, I would personally go Kane (c).

I'm a villa fan and I genuinely believe we will be reasonably solid at the back for now.

I am choosing between Vardy and Lukaku. May be forced to go for Romelu as Vardy bench cameo worries me.

I agree about choosing the player who you think will score best, of course, but the problem here is that I can't decide. Their stats, and their opposition's stats, are incredibly similar, so this now has to be a real factor in my decision!

The problem is hedging can sometimes lead to a horrible feeling of "Yes, my team won BUT I should've captained my player too. I should've followed my gut rather than hedging like a damn hedge...hog."

And nooone wants to be thinking "My team won, BUT". It's a horrible feeling that you don't think you're capable of, and you'd never talk about to friends or family. But it's a feeling that exists and it's bleak.

Indeed, it's exactly the feeling I had when I brought Kane in over Lukaku, the week of the Everton v Sunderland game. While watching, despite us scoring 6, there was that horrible, niggling "I should have got Lukaku" feeling.

You can't argue with the sentiment - but yes you do wonder if some of the guys just want to concentrate on the game ahead and not be inadvertently thrust into the spotlight. Some may thrive some may be distracted - it'll depend on the personalities of those involved I guess.

I think it is extremely befitting and I commend the gesture so hope noone thinks I think it shouldn't go ahead. Just think that they might say they are fine and when they hear that it will throw them for 6. It would to me.

Thoughts. Is Lanzini a good option niow that Payet is injured? Or are there better options in this price bracket.

Lanzini is best for his price, tough fixtures though and Payet out will affect their attacking prowess.

I'm still undecided between him, Bolasie and Deulofeu. Will make decision after this weekends games but its currently (in order)

                      Bolasie
                      Deulofeu
                      Lanzini

                    da Gea
                    Cedric | Janmaat | Souaré
Sánchez | De Bruyne | Mané | Willian
                    Lukaku | Pellè | Ighalo

                    Cathcart | Surman | Moreno | Hennessey

                    1FT
                    4.6M

                    It basically boils down to:

                    a) Pellè –> Agüero.
                    b) Pellè –> Kane.
                    c) Ighalo –> Kane.
                    d) Save.

Hi Guys, aware that this is very random but would really appreciate your thoughts.
I am in my first year at uni at the moment (20 years old) and at present am making my CV so that I can apply for some internships with investment banks.
Over the last few years I have won various fantasy games run by the telegraph, fantasy league and even Wimbledon and as a result have made about 2k and won some nice prizes.
Is this something worth including in my CV?

I feel it could go one of two ways:
                    1) They really don't like the sound of it, don't like the link to gambling
                    2) They like the fact that I am good with statistics, have analytical skills blah blah blah.

It really depends how you word it and what the job is but it could be relevant. As you say, stats and analysis comes into it.

don't include it, unless the job you're applying for is specifically of a statistical nature

I am in an analytical role and have it in my hobbies and interests. If they mention it you can elaborate stating the statistical analysis and forecasting which you perform to gain optimum results

                      1) safer option, really depends on who is looking.
                      Wouldn't include it.

I have interned at one of JPM/GS/MS/BAML and I would avoid mentioning FPL. Hobbies like poker and gambling in general are to be avoiding when applying for IBD; If S&T you could mention gambling-related hobbies but you must have some tangible measure of success. Furthermore, people working in S&T generally have a good knowledge of gambling and would grill you to smithereens in an interview. So in short, safest thing to do is just avoid mentioning it.
