We delve into the members’ data tonight and assess some of the key statistics from the Gameweek gone by. Stoke and Leicester’s weekend goal heroes arrive on our radar, whilst we also analyse Chelsea’s lack of end product, Aaron Ramsey’s central midfield display and the relentless displays of Watford’s top scorer.
Bench one...
A) Mahrez
B) Deeney
C) Sterling
D) VardyDeeney
Sterling
B
B
Sunderland´s defence is not that good and Deeney is in great form and in penaltys, why him??
Sunderland defence has improved under fat Sam. Deeney reliant on penos. Also others on your list have better fixture or form. You can't bench mahrez and sterling could play up top. Between Deeney and Vardy who would you bench?
Bony with 1 goal and 2 assists as a substitute may make Sterling up top unlikely now
I think sterling has more upside than Deeney this week. But yeah sterling has been inconsistent in the league.
Ok, I see, maybe I will risk it all and bench Vardy.
I wouldn't bench him. He's even a decent captain punt this week. Sterling in the league has been a bit unpredictable. I'd even bench Vardy over him.
Look at his name!
I think I will bench Vardy even with my name, haha.
C
Ok, thank you all. 🙂
If Smalling and Darmian are ruled out, I'm thinking of playing Stanislas over Mane. Silly?
Also, Hennessey or Butland?Butland
And I'd play ManeThanks
Im playing king over mane. Mane to go just dont want to get rid for a hit.
Why is 'should I bench Mahrez' still a question on here?
Seriously. Fpl breeds masochists.
Why do some people not own him? And some of those do own Hazard?
Think it has something to do with 'I could have had him at 5.5, now it feels silly to pay 6.7'..
Absolutely. But there surely must be times when you just have to suck it up, neutralise the terrifying differential, and compete everywhere else?
People like making their life more difficult than it should be.
Pick the low-hanging fruit
This
His past history wasn't great.
Who to transfer in?
A) silva
B) KDB
C) Rambo (have Ozil)
Currently on AB
A for the flair
C or A. What would you do with the extra cash?
I want to take mane out unless Cou is still injured
Have 6.3m ITB
I am in between A & C. I think you do not have any City attackers so probably A.
KGB.
A - but i'm desperate 😀
I'm desperater 😀
B if you wanna go "safe", C otherwise. Wait for the CL game

Who's been your most frustrating player to own this season? For me, it's been Mane.
Scores when I've owned him: 2, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2In hindsight I should have learned my lesson and not got him in this week for a hit AND captained him.
Same
2,4,3,2,1,5,2
Aguero closely followed by Mane
Agüero for many reaons
oh feck forgot about Aguero.
Yea, Aguero by far the worst.Planned my WC revolving around him 😎 He's my forbidden fruit.
Mane and Pelle 100%
Nothing when I own them (couple of goals without bonus from Pelle, sold for his monster hauls)not 100%, forgot about Aguero.
Feck him.Feck him x2
Have you captained fecking him?
almost every fecking time he's in my team.
Captained many times for only 4 points, I captained KdB Gw8. Oh yeah.
Hazard Mane Coutinho
Spurs, Liverpool & Man Utd in Europa .. Chelsea & Arsenal to join them?
Any news on Smalling groin injury?
Cheers
“Matteo Darmian has a hamstring injury and Smalling probably a groin injury”
min 2 weeks out for hamstring? Those 2 out would really hamper team Zimbabwe from a purely selfish perspective.
not one FPL defender likely to play in the most promising nil scoreline team Wow!
DDG is now the only way into that backline then. Are they still as promising for the clean sheet?
A back 4 of Varela McNair Blind Borthwick-Jackson this weekend
prob end up with Young McNair Carrick Blind...not thaaaat bad. but yea no CS.
ahaha not with a rag-tag back four, time to abort this plan for now!
cheaper options available but no nil scoreline guaranteed without Smalling/Rojo/Darmian 🙂
Moving to Lloris
Great result for Man City to finish top of the group and avoid Barca, Madrid, Bayern. They have a couple of months to sort themselves out and get Kun, Silva, Kompany back and in the groove.
If they can get their first XI out they can surely compete with anyone. Not convinced they can. Not with the very best.
Agreed, but I'd put a good bet on them reaching the semis now
They are looking poor at the minute, but I look at some of those players and all the disruption there's been and feel that if they can just get a bit of a run-simply in terms of player availability-that they can establish a very strong side. Short timeline but it helps that they avoid the big boys early so should get a big longer for the fine-tuning that's required.
Hart-Kompany-Otamendi
Fernandinho-Toure
Silva-KDB-Aguero
Some strong core areas here.PSG on the horizon?
Surprising result, thought Gladback had this in the bag with the YYT, Agüero & Kompany injury. Not to mention on the back of a 3-1 win vs Bayern. City are the only team to beat them since September, great second half performance.
I agree, they have a decent chance at reaching semi's now topping the group with key players fitIs that right? Good knowledge.
Semi would be a huge progression for them. And God knows the EPL needs the co-efficient boost!Aye, they've been great this season. That last bit is very interesting this season.
Tbh, I don't think ManCity are good enough to beat Bayern, PSG, Real, Atletico, or Barca,I leg yes but 2, NO.
That'd be interesting to see.
As far as PSG go Smegg, I wouldn't mind seeing that as a decent test, and I would back City to come through it.
Are they at the standard of the top tier sides? No, but nor are they anywhere near their ceiling at the moment imo. It's that that interests me, and even now, they can lay waste to a team on their day.
Much inferior sides have beaten the so-called heavyweights so just to be in the conversation is good to see.Could not agree more. Good post.
Cheers fella. May your arrows be green...
This
Bayern lost last league game
Knowing City, they will end up with PSG.
Man Utd back 4 this weekend
Varela | McNair | Blind | Borthwick-JacksonYou sure McNair's gonna be back from his yellow flag?
Cheers Siva 🙂
Young LB
I am going to concentrate on Spurs and Chelsea in the near future.
King (C)
United's blue-flagged defensive options this week:
Varela £4.2m
Borthwick-Jackson £4.0m
Tuanzebe £4.0m
Blind £5.4m (midfielder)
Young £5.6m (midfielder)
If ever there was a week to start your cheapo Bournemouth assets, this is it.Borthwick Jackson bandwagon?
As much as I'd like to see it as a bandwagon, I don't think we're going to see that much Borthwick Jackson action in the long term.
Wowza, that is disturbing.
People forget about DeGea in goals though, he's worth a goal or two off his own back alone.
Nah TE, there are defensive frailties that no keeper can overcome and Bournemouth's attack is a lot better than the goal numbers suggest. I wouldn't touch United with a barge this week.
De Gea's 37 saves might be useful though 😉
I take your point, could be good to see LVG forced onto the front foot to score goals, hopefully they go down 2 or 3 early!
Lads, which set of transfers would you prefer (assuming Aguero is out)?
A) Aguero, Bolasie -> Ramsey, Vardy/Benteke
B) Aguero, Bolasie -> Silva, Giroud
I like A because it includes Ramsey who looked phenomenal on the weekend back in his preferred position. But I don't have any City players so B gives me that option.
Thoughts are much appreciated 🙂both involve doubling up on City or Arsenal I presume. 50/50 but Rambo and Ozil cheaper.
Nah, as I said I don't have any other City players. So transferring in Silva would be my only City cover.
Yes, also have Ozil so would be Ramsey + Ozil if I went ASorry, i should read the whole post. I would go for Siva/De Bruyn then
Haha all good mate, cheers 🙂
B Silva is looking good
As is Ramsey, but cheers 🙂
Tough one considering you don't have any City. If you had KDB or Silva I would definitely go A. Slightly towards A with Vardy for me.
Thanks 🙂
I think B has more potential if you're going sans Agüero for a while, but it does come with a certain risk attached considering Giroud still has some rotation risk looming over him. FWIW, he has a great goal per minute ratio this season with a goal every 110 minutes played. Albeit he's scored 5 of those in his 9 starts.
If A, then definitively not Benteke, IMO.Cheers Zasa. Yeah I think I might leave Aguero for a while, he usually doesn't do too much after an injury. 🙂
I'm with you there mate, think I'll be dispersing some funds & just keep Agüero at arms length
Yep 🙂
Who you thinking for your Sturridge replacement?
I personally think Giroud is pretty nailed at the moment, he's scored very well recently and with Arsenal requiring players on the flanks I can't see Walcott being used up top too much. He's on pens too 🙂Ah, great point about the PK's, that makes things interesting, I wanna see how he performs compared to Wally & Rambo first though, as this third Arsenal spot is pretty sensitive. Fixtures may do me in though as I'm not sold on Watford past this GW. Either dullard Vardy or Giroud long term I guess.
Yeah that's true 🙂
@ Balders. Have a look at Zimbabwe now I have greyed the Man U defs
Wow, tonight's potential injuries really tip the gw in our favour here. It also makes their DDGs a lot less appealing.
What do people think of this as a list of defender ratings this year?
http://deepxg.com/2015/11/22/defence-territory-and-control/
Obviously Gabriel looks a huge outlier with such a high gap to second, but that's noted by the author. Cedric seems high too and Vinny Kompany is stuck somewhere in the middle of the pack, but generally looking at it, I caught myself nodding, yupping and mmhmmming alot.So for a foolish man who transferred in Sturridge and capped him, who would you suggest as a replacement? Lukaku and Kane my others...
Either Giroud who has the most potential long term here IMO but is a slight rotation risk. Ighalo (sun) but tough fixtures after, or Vardy.
Food for thought - Giroud is a bit low on confidence and Walcott is lurking.
Somebody equalling foolish...Darren Fletcher
Igahlo/Deeney or Vardy. All have excellent form.
Balotelli.....
AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
feck him.
Is the top hat really that versatile for the festive season, or will you concede defeat & opt for Santa's fashion?
Hmm, that's a point - I may change it
Santa sends his regards 😉
Already have KDB. Who else can i put in a midfield with him? Silva/Rambo/Eriksen?
Rambo
This
Saw someone above say Smalling might now play this week, is that true?
Yes, got a groin injury last night
Thanks
Looking at my 1st/2nd premium midfielder spot, I'm really hoping Barkley is the fix to it, its largely been a complete trainwreck so far:
GW1 Hazard
2, 1, 5, 2, 2
GW6 Hazard -> Coutinho
2, 9, 2, 2, 3
GW11 Coutinho -> Mane
3, 2, 1
GW14 Mane -> Barkley
13, 2
Has anyone else got similar bar hopping stories?very similar!
I have a feeling that Kun is back this weekend and score a double
After you Rukawa, the roof of my mouth is still burnt from my last bite of the glassman™ pizza.
sorry, see post below.
In my dreams. But I have a feeling he will be out for this week and possibly the following. Just one of those "one week away" injuries
😯
Hey Rukawa ... how are you?
What was your old username??Ladyguy
It was something pretty cool ... i remember some epic slagging matches too ... we got along well and I love the banter!
He's always been Rukawa hasn't he?
No I think once upon a time it was something else ... but in the dark ages ... when Cesc was the captain of Arsenal and Alex Song was reasonable bench fodder!
Pretty sure he wasn't here then. I remember when he first came on here (maybe 5 years back?) - he used to ask for Christina's help on all his decisions because he was smitten by the grav Rudi was using at the time (his wife in a bikini) and he thought that it was actually 'Christina'... 😆
...we've come along way...now he is beating me hands down.
His English is also a lot better.
😆Lol @ the grav change!
...I think it might have been the other one...give me a sec...
She was walking out of a pool I think...
Rukawa will have it saved somewhere.
😯
THAT one...Yep! 😯
With Lukaky, Vardy, Ighalo, Kane no rush. Get him when he gets through a full game.
Post for RUKAWA
He already owns him
😆Misunderstood the post. Then he is stuck. Hope it works for him.
He is doing well(curr top 5k) and scored 68pts last week with Kun in his 15 man squad. Easy switch out.
I don't get the Sturridge/Kun hype. Not at the moment anyway.Well, if one didnt spread out the kun extra money and had like 6m in bank, the aguero punt was no brainer for sure.
Van Gaal is Sh!t
For those who saw the City Game...How did Silva look?
Very good
thanks!
Spanish
It's Xmas time!
I envisioned you returning with a santa hat on top of the top hat! Or would that be too much hat?
I think too much hat! I did that last year and it was too controversial
No such thing as too much hat, 'tis a myth.
#Hatception
good idea!
It sure is!!
So, has the King wagon crashed and burned?
maybe
Stanis Boratheon is the one true King. Winter is coming.
🙂 very good
Props to GiggsB though 😉
Postponed for one week only, courtesy of Man Utd's defensive frailties!
I have him. He's a good benchwarmer and nothing more.
My GK & defence
De Gea, Myhill
Alderweireld, Sagna, VVD, Naughton, Richards
My watch list
Moreno, Simpson, Bellerin
Who else are the go to defenders at the minute? And who is priority to get it? And is it worth a hit?
CheersI don't think any defender is worth a hit, unless you cannot field at least three. Your watchlist looks good. You can forget about Man Utd for now. No love for Kolorov?
Cresswell?
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has criticised Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal for comments he made about the form of Bastian Schweinsteiger.
"I think he can play even better in every game," Van Gaal said after Saturday's goalless draw with West Ham in the Premier League.
But Rummenigge told German magazine Sport Bild: "I'm a bit disappointed with Louis, he should leave Bastian alone. He was the one who definitely wanted to sign him.
"Bastian needs a bit of time [to adjust]. You can't just give a veridct on him already," Rummenigge added. "Louis is not known for being the hugely sympathetic type."Schalke have terminated the contract of Kevin-Prince Boateng on a mutual basis, the German club have announced.
The club said on their official website: "FC Schalke 04 and Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng have decided to mutually terminate his contract at the club. The terms of the agreement will remain undisclosed."
Boateng joined Schalke from AC Milan in August 2013, but he hasn't made an appearance so far this season.
In total he made 60 appearances for Schalke in just over two years and will be able to play for other clubs when the transfer window opens in January.Always thought he was a talent. Portsmouth to AC always makes me smile
2004–2007 Hertha BSC II
2005–2007 Hertha BSC
2007–2009 Tottenham Hotspur
2009 → Borussia Dortmund (loan)
2009–2010 Portsmouth
2010–2013 Milan
2013–2015 Schalkesomeone can grab him for free this Jan
I like him as a player, great talent, but a bit like Adel Taarabt in attitude which lets him down.
