      Sunderland´s defence is not that good and Deeney is in great form and in penaltys, why him??

        Sunderland defence has improved under fat Sam. Deeney reliant on penos. Also others on your list have better fixture or form. You can't bench mahrez and sterling could play up top. Between Deeney and Vardy who would you bench?

          Bony with 1 goal and 2 assists as a substitute may make Sterling up top unlikely now

            I think sterling has more upside than Deeney this week. But yeah sterling has been inconsistent in the league.

        I wouldn't bench him. He's even a decent captain punt this week. Sterling in the league has been a bit unpredictable. I'd even bench Vardy over him.

    Great result for Man City to finish top of the group and avoid Barca, Madrid, Bayern. They have a couple of months to sort themselves out and get Kun, Silva, Kompany back and in the groove.

    If they can get their first XI out they can surely compete with anyone.

        They are looking poor at the minute, but I look at some of those players and all the disruption there's been and feel that if they can just get a bit of a run-simply in terms of player availability-that they can establish a very strong side. Short timeline but it helps that they avoid the big boys early so should get a big longer for the fine-tuning that's required.

        Hart-Kompany-Otamendi

        Fernandinho-Toure

        Silva-KDB-Aguero

        Some strong core areas here.

      Surprising result, thought Gladback had this in the bag with the YYT, Agüero & Kompany injury. Not to mention on the back of a 3-1 win vs Bayern. City are the only team to beat them since September, great second half performance.

      I agree, they have a decent chance at reaching semi's now topping the group with key players fit

              That'd be interesting to see.

              As far as PSG go Smegg, I wouldn't mind seeing that as a decent test, and I would back City to come through it.

              Are they at the standard of the top tier sides? No, but nor are they anywhere near their ceiling at the moment imo. It's that that interests me, and even now, they can lay waste to a team on their day.

              Much inferior sides have beaten the so-called heavyweights so just to be in the conversation is good to see.

    Lads, which set of transfers would you prefer (assuming Aguero is out)?

    A) Aguero, Bolasie -> Ramsey, Vardy/Benteke

    B) Aguero, Bolasie -> Silva, Giroud

    I like A because it includes Ramsey who looked phenomenal on the weekend back in his preferred position. But I don't have any City players so B gives me that option.

    Thoughts are much appreciated 🙂

      Tough one considering you don't have any City. If you had KDB or Silva I would definitely go A. Slightly towards A with Vardy for me.

      I think B has more potential if you're going sans Agüero for a while, but it does come with a certain risk attached considering Giroud still has some rotation risk looming over him. FWIW, he has a great goal per minute ratio this season with a goal every 110 minutes played. Albeit he's scored 5 of those in his 9 starts.

      If A, then definitively not Benteke, IMO.

        Cheers Zasa. Yeah I think I might leave Aguero for a while, he usually doesn't do too much after an injury. 🙂

            Yep 🙂

            Who you thinking for your Sturridge replacement?

            I personally think Giroud is pretty nailed at the moment, he's scored very well recently and with Arsenal requiring players on the flanks I can't see Walcott being used up top too much. He's on pens too 🙂

              Ah, great point about the PK's, that makes things interesting, I wanna see how he performs compared to Wally & Rambo first though, as this third Arsenal spot is pretty sensitive. Fixtures may do me in though as I'm not sold on Watford past this GW. Either dullard Vardy or Giroud long term I guess.

    What do people think of this as a list of defender ratings this year?

    http://deepxg.com/2015/11/22/defence-territory-and-control/

    Obviously Gabriel looks a huge outlier with such a high gap to second, but that's noted by the author. Cedric seems high too and Vinny Kompany is stuck somewhere in the middle of the pack, but generally looking at it, I caught myself nodding, yupping and mmhmmming alot.

      Either Giroud who has the most potential long term here IMO but is a slight rotation risk. Ighalo (sun) but tough fixtures after, or Vardy.

    Looking at my 1st/2nd premium midfielder spot, I'm really hoping Barkley is the fix to it, its largely been a complete trainwreck so far:

    GW1 Hazard
    2, 1, 5, 2, 2
    GW6 Hazard -> Coutinho
    2, 9, 2, 2, 3
    GW11 Coutinho -> Mane
    3, 2, 1
    GW14 Mane -> Barkley
    13, 2

    Has anyone else got similar bar hopping stories?

    Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has criticised Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal for comments he made about the form of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

    "I think he can play even better in every game," Van Gaal said after Saturday's goalless draw with West Ham in the Premier League.

    But Rummenigge told German magazine Sport Bild: "I'm a bit disappointed with Louis, he should leave Bastian alone. He was the one who definitely wanted to sign him.

    "Bastian needs a bit of time [to adjust]. You can't just give a veridct on him already," Rummenigge added. "Louis is not known for being the hugely sympathetic type."

    Schalke have terminated the contract of Kevin-Prince Boateng on a mutual basis, the German club have announced.

    The club said on their official website: "FC Schalke 04 and Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng have decided to mutually terminate his contract at the club. The terms of the agreement will remain undisclosed."

    Boateng joined Schalke from AC Milan in August 2013, but he hasn't made an appearance so far this season.

    In total he made 60 appearances for Schalke in just over two years and will be able to play for other clubs when the transfer window opens in January.
