Ahead of the final round of matches over the busy festive period, we’ve collated the latest news from all 20 clubs, with predicted starting line-ups found in our team news section.

Slaven Bilic may be able to call upon Dimitri Payet for the first time since Gameweek 12, with the midfielder returning to training this week. The mercurial playmaker seems unlikely to be thrown straight into the starting XI, with a cameo off the bench looking more likely. Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini look set to be handed starts in the early kick-off against Liverpool, having impressed off the bench against Southampton, while Aaron Cresswell is expected to return at left-back. Jordan Henderson is Jurgen Klopp’s main injury concern, after the midfielder was forced off against Sunderland with a heel injury. Lucas Leiva is on standby should the Reds’ skipper be ruled out. Daniel Sturridge may also be able to feature at Upton Park, although Christian Benteke will be expected to retain his starting spot having scored back-to-back winning goals.

Arsene Wenger has hinted at rotation ahead of the home encounter against Newcastle, with the likes of Per Mertesacker, Hector Bellerin, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud potentially handed a rest. Mathieu Flamini could be fit to return to the starting XI, though, having missed out against Bournemouth due to an ankle problem. Rob Elliot could miss out again for Newcastle due to a stomach bug, so Karl Darlow appears likely to continue in goal. Vurnon Anita is out with a muscle injury: Cheick Tiote is expected to deputise in central midfield.

Jamie Vardy has been given the all-clear by Claudio Ranieri ahead of the home clash against Bournemouth, with the forward having struggled with illness at the start of the week. Eddie Howe could hand a recall to Junior Stanislas after the midfielder completed 45 minutes off the bench against Arsenal on Monday. Marc Pugh could be the one to make way.

Michael Carrick and Memphis Depay will be hoping for recalls when Man United host Swansea, but with Louis van Gaal declaring himself fairly happy with his side’s performance against Chelsea, he could name a similar starting XI. Swansea caretaker manager Alan Curtis could hand a recall to winger Wayne Routledge, who has returned to training after missing the goalless draw against Crystal Palace due to a minor niggle. Federico Fernandez may also be fit to return having missed out against the Eagles due to a foot problem. Angel Rangel, Andre Ayew, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Leon Britton also look set to come back into the starting XI having been rested on Monday.

Alex Neil has no fresh injury concerns, and following the 2-0 victory against Aston Villa, isn’t expected to make many changes against Southampton. Ronald Koeman will again be without Cedric Soares and Graziano Pelle as the Saints travel to Carrow Road. The Dutch boss is also without the suspended Oriol Romeu, so Jordy Clasie looks set to earn a recall.

Sam Allardyce is likely to be without Jack Rodwell for the crucial home clash against Aston Villa, with Sebastian Coates also a doubt having been forced off in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. Steven Fletcher was rested against the Reds in readiness for the visit of Villa to the Stadium of Light, and appears likely to return to the starting XI. Big Sam could risk John O’Shea after the Republic of Ireland international missed Wednesday night’s match with a calf problem. Duncan Watmore also looks poised to earn a start, allowing Adam Johnson to shift to the number ten role as Allardyce reverts to a 4-2-3-1. Remi Garde will be without suspended pair Ashley Westwood and Jordan Ayew, so Rudy Gestede appears likely to start as the central striker for the Villans, while Jordan Veretout may perhaps have to drop into a deeper midfield role, possibly handing Jack Grealish a return to the starting XI.

Jonas Olsson and Victor Anichebe are doubts ahead of the home clash against Stoke, so Tony Pulis may revert back to a four-man defence having played with three at the back against Newcastle should Olsson be ruled out. Rickie Lambert looks the obvious contender to start should Anichebe fail to recover, with Saido Berahino out of favour. Mark Hughes revealed Marko Arnautovic was close to missing the match against Everton on Monday due to some tightness in his hamstring, but Hughes reported a clean bill of health heading into the Hawthorns clash, with fatigue the only a slight concern.

Quique Sanchez Flores will be without the suspended Nathan Ake against Man City, so Allan Nyom should return after being rested against Tottenham, with Ikechi Anya possibly shifting over to left-back. Gael Clichy is a doubt for Man City due to a minor niggle, so Aleksandar Kolarov may keep his starting spot at left-back. Manuel Pellegrini does have Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna available though, with rotation still a possibility in the full-back positions.

Alan Pardew looks set to hand a recall to Damian Delaney for the home encounter against Chelsea after the centre-back was rested against Swansea. Brede Hangeland appears likely to drop out of the starting XI, then. Yohan Cabaye is suspended, so Joe Ledley, Jordon Mutch or Lee Chung-yong could step in for the Frenchman. Gary Cahill and Loic Remy are doubts for Chelsea, but Guus Hiddink will be able to call upon Diego Costa, who returns from a one-match suspension. The striker should return to the starting XI then, with Pedro or Oscar perhaps making way.

Everton will be without James McCarthy for the home clash against Tottenham, with the midfielder suffering a recurrence of a groin injury against Stoke on Monday. Tom Cleverly also a doubt after picking up an Achilles injury against the Potters, with Muhamed Besic on standby to slot in. Leighton Baines was rested last time out, but should return in place of Brendan Galloway at left-back. Moussa Dembele is out for Spurs with an ankle injury, so Dele Alli could drop to a deeper midfield role then, with Son Heung-min perhaps being rewarded for his winning goal on Monday with a starting berth. Kyle Walker is expected to return at right-back after Kieran Trippier was handed a wing-back role at Vicarage Road.

What's the period from which those stats are taken?

              I give you another stat.

              Walcott:

              Big chances 2015/2016: 11.
              Big chances missed 2015/2016: 10.

That's not a very very good finisher, to say the least.

                2012-13
                2013-14
                These 3 seasons

Big chances is defined as positions from which on average players convert their shot 40% or more of the time. Walcott's conversion rate this season has been 9%. That's god awful.

lol. Dude 😆 "Obvious goal scoring opportunity" is a shorthand for a more accurate standards that they use. A better one is this:

"one-v-one with the keeper, or open through balls, and shots right in front of goal where you expect the player to score."

Now, this last part is something that can be and is counted from big data: from different situations, there are different conversion averages, and that can be counted as the rate at which the players are expected to convert such chances supposing an average performance. On big chances, that general average is ~40%. So a bang average player would on average bang 4 goals out of 10 big chances.

What is his conversion rate f big chances in his whole career? That is a more accurate metric for his finishing skill than the small sample size of just 1 season

                      2. Malcolm Tucker for England …

Hmm... all career 17% conversion rate inside the box. That's good. He's no Pelle. Although, that's highly skewed by 14 goals from 60 SiB 2012/2013 (that's almost 25% conversion rate that he has never come near to any other season). The factor may be that he featured a lot from bench, which tends to significantly improve the scoring stats. He averaged only 70 minutes/match that season.

Still , his finishing is criticized a LOT but in reality , he is better than that.

Standard shot conversion rate is ~ 13-15% inside the box

Are you providing here anything that I didn't already imply in the comment you reply to?

You should rather just admit that there's a distance between a very very good finisher and Walcott.

If you look at the data over all 3 seasons , he is a very good finisher. I was saying , even if you remove that season you accuse to have skewed his data , then also , his finishing is above average

you present the data over 3 years then say to exlude this season. you say kone should be considered this year ony, but Walcott over 3.
You don't specify minutes played tp provide context.
You have no control group to remain static as you are amending the relative season count values based on your argument

Conversion rate = Goals scored/shots...so minutes wont matter to his finishing skill

My point is this season Kone is taking very less shots and Walcott is outshooting him tenfold.

you can't take his shot rate this season and use his conversion for 3 years. Pick one or the other.

I think he warrants criticism when he fails to put away very simple chances. He'll pull off an absolute screamer now and again then go on to miss a couple of sitters.

But he makes up for it in the end , doesn't he? Then why should he get so much slack from everyone? He is definitely a better finisher than 70% of the PL strikers

He should get so much slack because he frequently spoils simple opportunities.

And I'm not too sold on him being a better finished than most PL strikers, I think it depends on what your criteria are for a good finisher but I'd be stunned if the so called inferior strikers missed the chances he does. For me, you have to do the simple things right first.

But then, I simply go by number of shots to goals scored. Theo's spans from 10%-16% over those 3 seasons mentioned, it's fine but I wouldn't call him a very very good finisher.

Which is fair, I do think there are subjective qualities to what defines a good finisher so I understand if you have different parameters than I do 🙂

Point taken but 10-16% is good and if you consider all the goals scored by him in the career , his conversion rate is around 20%

It's good but I don't think it's anything exceptional. For example, Giroud is another one who gets criticised and his percentages for those same three years are something like 20%, 14% and 10% (this year he's around 20% again).

One thing I would like to add is most of Giroud's shots are very close to the goal and hence , he is expected to have a higher conversion rate.

Aguero has a conversion rate of 20% but he takes more shots outside the box and hence is a better finisher

          Both should play, definitely Giroud.

There's only Campbell to come back in, and I'd bet it's for Ox.

Walcott scored that hatrick but I can't remember him doing much else against us. He really struggled against us up top in the reverse fixture. Much more threat out wide against Dummett.

No Janice, he'll play in the attacking part of the CM double-pivot. It's his best position as long as he stops drifting wide and holds his central position behind Giroud when they attack.

I'm over 100 points behind in my ML. Risk taking is the order of the day, avoiding jumping on the Mahrez bandwagon, but should I cut my losses and ditch kdb ? I'm Gonna stick with Aguero, he will come good, just needs match sharpness.

Any ideas what I can do, 2FTs, 0 in the bank.

    Goalies. Butland, Hennessey
Defenders. Smith, Sagna, Bellerin, Zouma, Walker
Midfield of Ozil, Stanislas, Kdb, Alli, Barry
    Forwards of Aguero, Kane, Vardy

Also, on the debate of rotation, my line of thinking is that this day and age, prem clubs monitor fitness so much t hat they will be aware of those needing a rest, but may use the FA cup as a perfect. Time for some as it affords over a week rest after tomorrow, so some of the less seasoned PL players may get a little sunny break ?

I hit into this mess by hanging onto hazard way too long btw. And not following the herd on Mahrez

I have 2 FTs and 0.6m ITB but ideally I'd like to keep that as I am considering (Barkley + Kane to Sanchez and Ighalo by GW23). Which transfer would you make this week (if any)?

    Cech (Hennessey)
    Toby, Ward, Bennett (Dier, Cathcart)
    KDB, Ozil, Barkley, Mahrez (Stanislas)
    Aguero, Kane, Lukaku

    A. Barkley to Arnie (until GW23 when Sanchez will replace him so would be for WBA (a) and NOR (h))
    B. Defensive transfer, if so who should be brought in?
    C. No need to transfer
