As the real life wheeling and dealing comes to a close on Deadline Day, we roll out a trio of overlooked alternatives for your Monday night consideration. Arsenal and Tottenham’s midfields supply us with a couple of options, whilst we also turn to West Ham’s wide man ahead of clashes with three of the bottom four in the next four rounds of fixtures.

Alexis Sanchez

Having completed his comeback from injury with a 34-minute run-out against Chelsea last Gameweek, Alexis Sanchez (10.9) reaffirmed his Fantasy potential with a goal and assist during the Gunners’ 2-1 FA Cup win over Burnley on Saturday afternoon. Although the Chilean failed to net in his previous six league starts, his capacity for explosive returns (six goals and 46 points in three outings from Gameweek 7-9) ensures that he’s the fourth-most transferred in midfielder (90,000+) this week, with many Kevin de Bruyne owners making a straight swap.

Taking the campaign as a whole, Sanchez still ranks top among Arsenal’s midfield contingent for attempts (57), shots inside the box (40), joint-top for shots on target (17) and top for penalty-box touches (112). Moreover, despite the fact he was sidelined for eight matches with a hamstring complaint, he still manages to sit second among all midfielders – behind Sadio Mane (46) – for shots inside box, while only Philippe Coutinho lays claim to a superior shot frequency (one every 19 minutes compared to 20.7).

In the wake of Arsenal’s two consecutive blanks, Sanchez – who sits in just 11% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) sides – is poised for a timely return to the starting XI for Southampton’s visit on Tuesday. Although the North Londoners came up short last time out at the Emirates, they’re the clear frontrunners with regards to big chances created on home turf (37), which bodes well for the Chilean’s attacking prospects.

Michail Antonio

In light of Dimitri Payet’s spellbinding displays since being discharged from the treatment room, it’s easy to overlook the excellent form of Michail Antonio (5.3). Since Gameweek 18, the  former Nottingham Forest winger – who’s valued 2.9 below his more illustrious, 8.2-priced teammate – has drawn a solitary blank in six appearances, notching two goals and five assists along the way.

Delving deeper into the statistics, Antonio ranked among the top 10 midfielders for attempts (nine) over the past four Gameweeks, while only four of his counterparts mustered more shots inside the box (seven). Despite clocking almost half the pitch time of Payet (780 to 1394 minutes), the robust winger has tallied one more shot inside the box (14) at a superior shot frequency (41.1 minutes to 49.8), furnishing us with an alluring budget route into the Hammers’ attack.

Considering that the Irons are about to embark on a superb quartet of fixtures (AVL, sou, nor, SUN), which includes a home tie against Sunderland in Gameweek 27 – at a time when Man City, Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle face a blank – the platform is set for Antonio to flourish.

Christian Eriksen

Scoring for the first time since a free-kick double against Swansea City in Gameweek 8, Christian Eriksen (8.4) bagged a brace at home to Sunderland a fortnight ago, before serving up an assist in Tottenham’s Hotspur’s 3-1 win at Crystal Palace. Were it not for the headline-grabbing exploits of Dele Alli, the Danish playmaker might well be attracting more interest on the Fantasy market ahead of a favourable pair of match-ups against Norwich and Watford.

Over the past four Gameweeks, Eriksen ranks joint-third among midfielders for attempts (13) and joint-top – with Alli – for accurate shots (seven). Taking the season as a whole, he places joint-third in terms of shots on target (21), underlining his influence in the final third. On the distribution front, no midfielder has racked up more key passes (19) since Gameweek 20, while he ranks third in that respect (65) this term.

Having tallied 13 more attempts (90) and seven more shots on target (31) than any team over the previous four Gameweeks, Spurs are well placed to punish a Norwich City outfit that ranks second for goals conceded (43) and top for big chances surrendered (57). Beyond that head-to-head, they’ll fancy their chances when Watford pay a visit, given that the Lilywhites have carded more shots on target (87) in home matches than the rest of the field.

When is the DGW likely to be ?
When will it announced ? Today ?

The overwhelming favourite is GW34. There might be one before then if Liverpool or Man City get knocked out of Europe quickly - but it's a long shot. I doubt very much that there will be an announcement today - that's a very long shot.

Something fishy about that for sure. I think they'll fire Pulis in the end of the season. It was always a mistake to give him the full power over recruitment. The amount of money he spent at Stoke on very mediocre players is shocking.

      No - strange.
He doesn't want to be there

And Newcastle offered silly (20m+) for him.

West Brom did not sell , its good , he is on minimal wages anyway and if he was sold to a direct relegation , it could have bited them in the *ss

Also , in the last 6-7 games , West Brom might be in a stage where they need goals , so Berahino might come in handy

You seen the Secret Footballer article on him? Pulis has full control of recruitment, so if they sold Berahino, Pulis would spend all that money and he would spend it just for spending it, on players represented by his agent, so he would get a cut of the transfer fees (so a part of that £25M, perhaps around £1M for him), and the club would be left with players of potentially little use that they could not necessarily get easily rid off.

        Thanks both.

Yes bench is a bit rubbish, but for the moment I'm fairly happy with Elliot, Ward and Gosling. It's only Oxford that really needs to get out of there but I haven't got round to that yet.

My budget is pretty much maxed out btw, so will be downgrading either Ivan, Ozil or Lukaku (to Ighalo or Afobe for the blank) to do that. Also not particularly happy with Gomes at the moment but this is gonna have to wait for WC.

Yes your right he is overrated, I expect some assists for a 6m+ def and he ain't delivering. But If I weren't playing Bellerin for a home V anyone I'd sell him literally ASAP,
Add in Norwich to score V Spurs and WBA to score v Swans and you may be leaving cs points on your bench imho, your call RS.

Just what my thoughts were about Bellerin. Here's my justification for playing my current 3

Toby - Spurs don't do clean sheets. But for a CB he gets the odd goal/assist far too often.

Williams - WBA attack is a joke. Threat from corners.

Dawson - Pulis defender and bonus magnet.

Yea I can see your logic but I fear 1/3 of those will deliver a cs whereas I think with Bell you may increase you chances to 2/3 of those.

Firm has very nice fixtures next three I'd say - as long as you have 11 non blankers, no reason why not to bring in.

because it's inevitable we will have some blank players...why miss out on 3 decent fixtures in the meantime?Besides, most will have at least 3 FT's(4 in some cases) between now and GW 27 to remove blank players.

Baines part of a shocking defense and not making enough attacking returns for him to be worthwhile- Ivan/Azpi would be better. Rest is very nice and I'd bench firmino aswell

I was actually set on doing KdB to Silva and roll the other transfer. Can't get Silva and Alexis both.

Why is Alexis more essential over Silva, a players who's been back for few weeks, found his sharpness and with KDB out he'll see more of the ball?

Firmino practically for 3 GWs until blank.

Ozil, Bellerin and Alexis is overkill given the form and fixtures, yeah?

I was tempted myself but I'm going to wait until next week now in case I need 2 ft's for Sanchez instead. In your situation I'd do it. You don't need Ozil and Sanchez I'd say. On the downside I don't see the Leicester game as a good fixture

You know the pitfalls AK, Firmino has the blank but good fixt now, Sanchez may find it tough against a tight Soton def and Özil could easily unlock it.
For free-yes I think. Just make sure you have s plan for Firmino blank in 27.

Aware of the pitfalls, that's why I am still giving it time.

I am actually torn between Silva or Alexis. For Alexis, I'd have to do another transfer for his funds. With Silva though, I can roll the FT, giving me 4 free transfers until the blank. Have 3 blank players atm.

        1. Christina.

          do kdb->firm

Sometimes 2ft is a curse for sure and this is a good example of case in point.
I'm opposite you (1ft) and a Kdb owner, so I'm saving and monitoring AK.
I agree a lot with Timbo above, I don't think this is a great week for Firmino but at least you'd have him in place for the next more favourable 2.
Silva just doesn't feel right just now and I'm his biggest fan, tho maybe Kdb out may help him?
I think Chris may have it right, Kdb>Firminho and save/reasses.

I have the same and I'm benching firmino.

The foxes defense has tighten up. They're rested. No FA cup and they know these three games are make or break. I can see Ozil matching firmino points.

Ozil played at home and was also reated.

I might do it after tonight, Ozil is set to drop imminently I believe. I'd rather be able to wait until tomorrow nights games are done as well and I may do because that 0.1 I don't need right now. I haven't done that transfer this week though because I wanna see how Sanchez does in a 90 minute league game
