It’s time for our Sky Sports Focus article now this Thursday afternoon. As always, we bring you the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends and our Watchlist before taking a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 35 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Aston Villa vs ChelseaPedro
Arsenal vs WatfordAlex Iwobi
Bournemouth vs Man CityKevin de Bruyne
Norwich vs NewcastleTimm Klose
Stoke vs SwanseaMarko Arnautovic
Sunderland vs West BromBen Foster
West Ham vs Crystal PalaceYannick Bolasie
Liverpool vs TottenhamPhilippe Coutinho
Leicester vs SouthamptonWes Morgan
Man United vs EvertonAnthony Martial

One goalkeeper a couple of defenders, six midfielders and one forward chalked up the awards this week. Kevin de Bruyne came back from injury with a bang and is still in 7.4% of teams as we head into some decent fixtures for the City midfielder – expect that to rise considerably. Alexi Iwobi (4m) has now picked up back-to-back MoTM awards and looks an enticing option in the weeks to come if he can keep his starting role. Philippe Coutinho has been in great form of late and looks another candidate to jump in ownership (8.1%), taken Liverpool’s remaining schedule into consideration.

Gameweek 35 Bonus Points

Three goalkeepers picked up bonus last week. Heurelho Gomes, Hugo Lloris and Ben Foster were the men in question, as the latter racked up an impressive 14 points. Leading the way for keepers are Petr Cech and Jack Butland, with 16 bonus points.

In defence, 13 players grabbed bonus; eight for tackles and five for completed passes. John Stones was the closest to earning both, missing out by just one completed tackle. Simon Francis currently leads the way for defenders with 24 bonus points.

In midfield, there were 12 beneficiaries in total: five for tackling and seven for passes. Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele was again the closest to picking up both after missing out on extra bonus by one tackle. Cesc Fabregas is dominating the bonus tables with 56 points overall from passing and tackling.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

Injuries to Jack Butland and Joe Hart persuaded many owners to part company, though the latter is now fit and available after returning against PSG last night. Similarly, those who sold Roberto Firmino may live to regret it after he returned to training ahead of this evening’s encounter with Dortmund. Odion Ighalo’s lack of form and Raheem Sterling’s stint on the sidelines have seen plenty look elsewhere.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers

PayetWest Ham6.25.26%
LukakuEverton8.84.53%
LlorisTottenham5.44.42%
De BruyneMan City7.84.03%

The above-mentioned goalkeeper exodus has earned both Kasper Schmeichel and Hugo Lloris plenty of new owners, though neither has a double Gameweek on their remaining schedule. Dimitri Payet and the fit-again Kevin de Bruyne’s kind price tags are too good to overlook, whilst Lukaku’s new owners will have one eye on the upcoming doubles.

The average amount of transfers remaining amongst the top 10 Sky managers currently is 4.7, whilst the top 100 average is 3.44, the top 1,000 is 4.45 and the top 5,000 is 4.69.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

Notes
An average week for my team with Harry Kane’s 14 as captain on Saturday my main source of points. Craig Dawson, Dimitri Payet and Sergio Aguero also chipped in with seven apiece but I was let down by Sunday’s fixtures with Romelu Lukaku (as skipper) and then Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy all failing to register.

Not having a Leicester defender over the second half of the season has really hurt me as they continue to churn out clean sheets at such a cheap price but I feel I’ve missed the boat now and have limited transfers left ahead of multiple double Gameweeks. As for moves this week, I’ll probably swap out Cesc Fabregas for Philippe Coutinho on Sunday, given his extra fixtures and form, although I’m fearful Fabregas may hurt me as he also has been playing well of late.

Captain Plan
Sergio Aguero is my captain for Saturday and probably looks the best option on this matchday assuming Man City are not too tired following their midweek action.

I’m forgoing a captain for Sunday’s round of matches in order to hand the armband to Romelu Lukaku on Wednesday evening when Everton travel to Selhurst Park. This sets me up nicely for the bumper Gameweek 37.

Not really. It's a critical game. They have to win.

Next leg of Champ Lge is at home too, which helps.

I think it will another case of 'get it in the bag and sub Silva and KDB off, then Kun.

In expecting minutes for Delph somewhere. He may start ahead of Fernando.

Sagna and Clichy could be rested. Kolarov is much more physical than Clichy so he should start vs a team that plays 3 or 4 centre backs.

Silva, KdB and Aguero are likely to be subbed off.

    Considering DDG/Robles over DDG/Darlow

How many points do we think Darlow will get in wk 35 Liverpool away?
    1 -3 maybe.

Is it really worth having him in when Robles is only 0.4m more?
Robles plays his gw35 game this week. Cant we view it like that ?

    DDG/Robles wk33= 2. Wk34=4. Wk 35=0 Total games= 6

    DDG/Darlow wk33= 1. Wk34=4. Wk 35=1 Total games=6

This comes down to Robles v Palace wk 33 against Darlow v Liverpool in 35.
This allows for United coverage with DDG instead of the more expensive Smalling.
Of course Robles/Migs is also an option with 7 fix over that 3 week stretch but one would have to get Smalling @ 6.5m to do that for United cover..

I much prefer DDG/Robles, even with no GK coverage in 35.

As you say, you get that extra game now.

And you can still use a transfer to get in a playing keeper come 35, even without a hit if you wildcard 9 outfield players who have a 35 fixture.

No need to go to Darlow. Especially for someone who already has Janmaat, which many might after WC.

I think he has a better chance to start every PL game than any other Liverpool midfielder. If either Coutinho of Firmino get a yellow card today vs. Dortmund, I might change my opinion on that).

His returns have been decent when he's played, he has very low ownership, and he is on penalties.

Maybe leave your 'keepers as is and save the funds for a Lennon/Lingard replacement in GW35?

I wouldn't risk Darmian myself, but equally I think Smalling is a bit too pricey.

      DDG carries no rotation risk.

I like Darmian, but knowing LVG, would it be that much of a surprise to see Valencia, or Young, or Varela, or Jones, or one of the youngsters at fullback and Darmian on the pine? Not to me.

    Coutinho vs Firmino

Trying to decide who to go for, and to see if it can be viable to go for both. All stats are based on matches where they have played at least 60 minutes.

They have been on the pitch together, playing at least 60 minutes each, 8 times this season, 7 of which were away games. During these 8 matches Coutinho averaged 6,88 points, playing 661 minutes, while Firmino averaged 5,5 points, playing 599 minutes.

It's worth noting though, that in 4 of these 8 games, they both blanked. This was in the away games at ars, wat, sun and whu.

Interestingly, Coutinho has averaged less points (5,45) when Firmino has NOT been on the pitch with him, while it's quite the opposite for Firmino, who has averaged 7,8 points when Coutinho has been out.

Not considering gametime together, Coutinho has averaged 6 points at home this season, wheras Firmino has averaged 7,25.

*Please note that I suck in statistics, and some of these numbers may be slightly off 🙂

If he was sure to start every game, at that price everyone would have him.

You have to make a judgement about that.

Ramsey back does not help his case. Nor do Theo's recent goals. Nor does the possibilty that Wenger might
start Giroud, which could move Welbeck to the wing that game.

I do think he'll start this week, but for .4 more, I can have Lanzini, who is 100% nailed every game, barring injury.

It would depend on the entire team.

Myself -- I am locked on Sanchez and Bellerin. And I am debating between Ozil (who is probable) and Gabriel (who could be rotated) depending on how I fill up my midfield. For me, Ozil is world-class. For sure, he has gone off the boil, but I have to believe he will play every game as long as Arsenal are fighting for the title/Ch. League spot. I'm hoping his class shows.

I think Iwobi could be a decent punt, but where do I fit him in?

Also, I have Lanzini as my 5th mid. You, a Hammers fan, surely know how wonderful he is.

With so many heavy hitting midfielders about, do I want 2 of the 5 spots taken up by 4.9 and 4.5?

What do I do with Sanchez, KDB, Ozil, and Coutinho/Firmino?

    A - DDG + Clyne
    B - Mignolet + Smalling

    A leaves an extra 0.5...

I want to take a punt on a CP or Everton attacker on for GW 33. Already have lukaku.

    A - Barkley
    B - Bolaise
    C - Lennon.

      Same here.

Leaning towards Bolasie as I have Kaku and Coleman. Should be fun!

Help needed please! I thought I had my 15 all sorted but then KDB throws a right spanner in the works by coming back on top form!

My 15 for GW34 was this:

    DDG Robles
    Bellerin Clyne Delaney Fuchs Smalling
    Coutinho Iwobi Mahrez Payet Sanchez
    Aguero Lukaku Martian

But if I want to accommodate KDB it boils down to:
KDB Sakho Rashford v Mahrez Clyne Martial - former more explosive, latter more solid - any thoughts most welcome!

my problem exactly! Am even considering Ozil instead of Sanchez to make room for KDB

I think KDB could be DGW Fool's gold - sure he will score well enough, but the compromises to get him in just feel far too great ie one KDB = Iwobi + Lanzini plus 0.9m spending money

It's only taken 4.5 hours this morning, but I'm sorted for the WC and coming weeks, albeit with a benching headache this week:

    Robles, Mignolet
    Bellerin, Smalling, Moreno/Sakho, Rojo, Gabriel
    Sanchez, KDB, Coutinho, Barkley, Payet
    Pellè, Wickham, Lukaku

    GW34
    Barkley > Firmino

    GW35
    Rojo > Azpi

    GW36
    Wickham > Defoe

Very nice - Liking it. Rojo is obvious worry but rest looks decent

I have a feeling Rojo is a mistake. I want nothing to do with him.

The front line will be weaker than most teams. Wickham just returning from injury. Pelle with no DGW's.
You probably need to rethink that.
