Gameweek 36 culminates with a showdown at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea look to end Tottenham’s bid for the title.

The Blues prepared for this one with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Bournemouth last time out and with a double Gameweek 37 just around the corner, tonight’s match affords an early scouting opportunity as we fine-tune out plans ahead of the weekend’s deadline.

Of the two sides, though, it’s Spurs who boast the greatest goal threat ahead of a match they need to win in order to keep their slim chances of clinching the Premier League intact.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men lead their hosts by 75 shots to 46 over their respective last four – a tally bettered only by Liverpool (80) – whilst the visitors have also offered a far superior close-range threat, racking up 43 attempts inside the box to Chelsea’s 31.

In terms of defensive data, Spurs again impress more than the deposed champions, who have managed a single clean sheet in ten Gameweeks – against Aston Villa. The visitors have afforded the opposition just 25 efforts inside the box – a tally bettered by just four other defences – with Chelsea not too far back on 30.

Whilst Foxes fans will be hoping for a title-winning favour from Guus Hiddink’s side, then, the numbers suggest that the visitors still have reason for optimism as they look to keep the race for the crown alive for at least one more round of fixtures.

My God.. congrats to all those who were Leicester fans before this year.

Incredible stuff really, the Premier League being a competition tainted by money and a closed group of potential winners has long been a conversational point at the dinner table.. great to see that theory refuted, if only for one year.

Can't believe the criticism of Spurs on hear! For year people say they have no heart and when the show it, they get vilified! A few harsh tackles, but nothing Chelsea and most other teams haven't done in the past. Top team!

Well deserved criticism, you have to control your frustration and accept that it's not their year. They just lost the head and wanted to pick a fight with Chelsea because they couldn't beat them.

Chelsea players have been disgraceful this season.
Spurs have been brilliant, but disgraceful behaviour tonight.
Leicester have been brilliant all season, congratulations to them. Great result for what was a very stale Premier League. So glad the big teams have been shown up, and they have been comprehensively shown up.

Utterly disgraceful from Spuds tonight. A complete embarrassment.

No class whatsoever. Could have had 5 or so players sent off.

Didn't deserve to win the title.

Rose to start LB for England in Euros, right?

        • 10 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

Hopefully Shaw will be called up, if he's fit and plays a few games before the start of the tournament he should be first choice.

However, I'm a biased Manchester United fan and it wouldn't suprise me if Rose started as LB for England - he has been excellent this season.

        1. Frank Black
          • 13 Years

He's never going to be first choice after an injury like that. They have Rose AND Cresswell. Can't see Shaw at Euro 2016.

Long term, Shaw, maybe, but surely you can't put him in instead of Rose who has been fantastic this season.
