Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 2 set-piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the first of a new series of Members articles we will assess where set play situations can be exploited each week.

Where this differs from the set-pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set-piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set-piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have round of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 2. For example, Junior Stanislas is an important figure in set-pieces for Bournemouth but will not feature at West Ham through injury, so we have removed him the list of potential takers for this weekend’s match.

Celtic need Rangers to be more competitive to get some more money in that league.

Then they might jointly start to attract the kind of players needed to navigate the qualifying rounds of modern day European competition.

Has anyone listened to the latest episode of FML FPL podcast?

Wow, they really don't give a so and so. They have absolutely slammed a well known rival show for selling out.

It's great when FPL pundits cross swords but this may be a bit too mean spirited. I'm undecided. I guess you could take it as a joke. Either way, it's pretty brazen!

Saying someone doesn’t understand the game because they haven’t been to a match or played at a high level is just plain ridiculous. But carry on with the generalization “Americans don’t know squat about football bit.”

People who support and watch their local team over a long period of time do tend to be more clued up.

                        That’s no slight against Americans.

Then a serious answer I apologise.

Towards the end of the season games get moved around due to cup matches/weather and cause weeks where some teams play twice. This also causes weeks when some teams miss a game.

The free hit is good to navigate these. But don’t worry about it until after Christmas.

Someone has to come on for Kun, right? No but statistically, this is a famous pattern, Kun goes off 10 minutes earlier and comes on for another 70-80 minutes the next game. He wont need more vs Huddersfield.

the pattern last year was that they played one game each, when both were fit. Although another pattern was that Kun played at home. So who knows.. hopefully there'll be a clue in Pep's pc

Depends what you are playing for, you had a great start, so playing it safe with Salah to stay ahead in mini-leagues and in the top 10k makes sense. If you are going for the overall FPL win or catching someone with a even better start then go for it!

I dont think salah going off the boil a little would do it on its own but if Kane Luk Haz et al (high cost players) bag a hat trick then pressure would come on owners. Fixtures in Liverpool's favour for the time being so can not see that happening soon. A month or so down the line then its more than a posibility. But at the moment no high end player performed last week. Mane the exception at 9.5

As a knee jerk response I was thinking under 6 points per game but it'd have to be during good fixtures with no other captaincy options. Which makes me rethink habing Salah at all.

Clean sheet would have to be locked.

I'd file Mendy under "Baines in his prime"...never bench, never captain...

    Hi guys.

I think I'll save FT for next GW. Current team:

    Patrício
    Peltier; Robbo; Mendy
    Salah; Mane; Richarlison; Eriksen; Jota
    Kun; King

    Hamer; Tomkins; WB; Kamara

    1) Tomkins, WB or Peltier in the starting team?
    2) Would you make any transfer?
    3) Who would you captain?

    Thanks a lot!

    Cheers mates

In all seriousness why would you? Did you not set your team up for these early gameweeks?
Since the generic template scored great in week 1.
The only reason I could see why you would consider it this week is Kane, but it's clearly not worth it with such a valuable chip.

It MIGHNT be the worst week for it. If for example you thought Kun & Kane generally weren’t good value, but they both happened to,have plum homemfixtures.

You could free hit in Kun, Kane, KDB, Sterling, Eriksen, Alli etc & bank on Man City & spurs both racking up big wins

Yes but the "generic template" was Kun/City heavy anyway.
Which leaves Kane, and don't think he's worth that risk atm. Let alone by using the Free Hit Chip.

Even if Richarlson blanks nxt gw and you don't own him yet but you own Siggy instead and Siggy blanks too will you be doing Siggy ➡️ Richarlson?

Roundabout way if asking if you have fecked up by getting Siggy over Richarlson will ya be swapping?
