Peltier absence limits FPL interest in Cardiff v Newcastle

Interest in Saturday’s lunch-time kick-off was reduced by the absence of Cardiff City’s Lee Peltier (£4.0m).

The right-back was one of a handful of starting defenders in the cheapest bracket during pre-season and Gameweek 1, but was not named in the match-day squad to face Newcastle United. Ecuele Manga (£4.5m) shifted across from centre-back to fill in for him, with Sol Bamba (£4.5m) dropping back to allow Harry Arter (£5.0m) to make his debut.

The most popular Cardiff asset, 4.1 percent of Fantasy Premier League managers had Peltier in their own squads and a large portion of that started him for Gameweek 2.

Bobby Reid (£5.5m) also dropped out of the starting line-up, after leading the line at Bournemouth in Gameweek 1. Kenneth Zohore (£5.0m) comes in to take his place.

The focus on visitors Newcastle will be around Jamaal Lascalles (£5.0m) whose 7.9 percent ownershipn makes him the most fashionable asset in the match.

A small number of eyes will also be on Matt Ritchie (£6.0m), who registered an assist at home against Spurs in Gameweek 1 and the promising Kenedy (£5.0m) who sits in 2.5 percent of squads.

Meanwhile Joselu (£5.0m), signed by 79,000+ managers since last Saturday, is still chasing his first away league goal for Newcastle after netting last week.

    Best 4.5 replace for Hudson-Odoi? Took a punt on him in gw1, which burns. He is about to drop now. Got 2 FT's and 0.5 itb

          0.1 really doesn't matter imo - especially if you have your wildcard - I wouldn't bother really, unless an obvious straight swap 4.5 shows himself today

        Yeah considered downgrading him to Arnie/Zaha and upgrade my 5th mid to a 6.5 (Madisson/Jota). Good rotation options. Could also just do Morata --> Vardy later on and give Morata a chance.

      Presume he's just fodder, why not just leave it and suck up the (0.1)? If you need him to play then that's different. The Shaw part is irrelevant unless you're going to another 4.5, just someone nailed (Stephens maybe)

      I think Mee or Tark is a solid replacement for Shaw. That leaves 5m options as 5th mid. Kante Kennedy are the only two I can think of really

      I see now that you have two 4.5m mids. That is an issue.

      I would downgrade morata also to zaha (prefer his fixtures over the next five to arnie whom i own)

      Kante is okay as a 5th mid but not a 4th so invest there. Possibly pedro if you fancy chelsea and his chances of playing. There are signs he may have found his mojo back.

          It's a decent tactic. Allowing bigger guns in other positions. Risky yes, but there's merit in having cheaper bench players. And FFS LOVES a playing 4.0

            The 0.5 is not really that worth it. I admit having WB is a good idea as he looked as nailed as nailed can be. But TWO 4.0? Rather shave 0.5 off one of the other players and get a playing 4.5

    Just to throw something to the mix, a leaked line up from West Ham game on a fan-site, so take it with a pinch I expect. Has Snodgrass, Zabaleta and Chicarito starting with Antonio, Rice and Fredericks dropped. All of the latter three not even in the squad.
