Aguero early Gameweek 9 captain favourite as Salah deals with injury

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) are thought to be the leading candidates for the Gameweek 9 captaincy.

They face Burnley and Huddersfield respectively, two rather favourable fixtures.

You can now vote in the latest captain poll either at the bottom of this article or on the side-bar of our home page.

The Manchester City man may have the advantage over Salah given that the Egyptian picked up a muscle injury over the international break.

The current thinking is that Salah’s knock is not too serious although Fantasy Premier League managers will still want to hear from Jurgen Klopp before making a final decision.

Meanwhile, Aguero was not involved over the international break at all, for the second time this season. Another rest for the Argentinian, after an ongoing injury problem, has some Fantasy managers hoping that manager Pep Guardiola won’t manage his minutes so often anymore.

Anyone still worried Aguero’s game-time may still consider one of his attacking colleagues in either Raheem Sterling (£11.1m), David Silva (£8.5m) or even Kevin De Bruyne (£9.7m) if Guardiola passes him fit. Man City does look a source of plenty of options this week as no team has allowed more shots on goal this season than Burnley.

Liverpool’s trip to Huddersfield still holds some promise though, so Sadio Mané (£9.9m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.3m) may also receive some attention in the poll, especially if Salah loses the fitness race.

Eden Hazard (£11.3m) faces a tougher fixture as Manchester United come to Stamford Bridge, but the Chelsea man may still get a look-in for the captaincy.

Only four teams have conceded more goals than the Red Devils in the last four Gameweeks, and they have been breached the same number of times as typically leaky Bournemouth and Huddersfield during that time.

Furthermore, Hazard still has just one blank in 2018/19 even managing to score against the transformed Liverpool defence in Gameweek 7.

Top differentials may still include Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m) who increased his goal involvement tally for the season to eight in Gameweek 8. He and his Arsenal colleagues are at home against Leicester, a side they scored four goals past in last year’s corresponding fixture.

Richarlison (£6.8m) and Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) may also receive outside considerations as Everton are in-form and host a struggling Crystal Palace side in Gameweek 9.

Suddenly I'm thinking to ditch Aguero for Sterling as a City asset...what are your thought on Sterling as a long term plan?

Love Sterling but your move seems sideways IMHO.

Got to look at captaincy for me as well. I could never trust him enough in terms of output and minutes to captain him... although the Aguero 60 minute withdrawal is wearing thin

    On WC, current team:

    Patricio, Hamer

    Haz, Siggy, Maddison, Fraser, Mane
    Wilson, Lacazette, Mitrovic

    Thoughts?

        agreed,

but don't you think it is worth getting them for now and transfer out before GW 11? or just go with one of them?

also have Fraser before WC, pp 5.6

Probably covered in other articles, but is anyone bringing Mendy back in?

I'd have to swap for either Trippier, Robertson or Alonso. (Doh and WB)

    I want him back :'(

Yeah didn't think about rotation. Assumed he was nailed if available.

I can afford Trips to Mendy. Just wondering if that was a wise move for this weeks transfer.

    Patricio
    Alonso Robbo Cook
    Salah Richarlison Hazard Fraser
    Ings Kane Deeney

    (Fab Duffy WanBis N.Mendy)

Thinking Kane + Deeney for Firmino + Lacca ? Thoughts?

    Same cost & -4 points

I need some help regarding my transfers for this gameweek... My team looks like this:
    Patricio
    Robertson | Laporte| Pereira
    Son | Hazard | Salah | Richarlison| Hughes
    Vardy | Mitrovic
    Bench: Boruc, AWB, Quaner, Peltier
And I have 3.8 m in the bank.
The main headache for me is it whether should I get in Sterling for Son, and leave 1 m in the bank for the next gameweek, or should I go -4 to get in Firmino instead of Quaner and Felipe Anderson instead of Son?
    What do you think?

On WC. Debating dropping Kane. Current team:

    TAA-Dougherty-Alonso-Mendy (WB)
    Haz-Madd-Rich-Knock (Hojberg)
    Aguero-Kane (Jimenez)

Considering a front of Aguero-Mitro-Arnie and dropping:
    A: Knock for Mane
    B: Madd for Sterling
    C: Leave as is

    thoughts? appreciated.
