In the Gameweek of ‘no-shows’, impressively I managed six zero-pointers across my squad of fifteen.

With Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) and captain Mohamed Salah (£13m) the only players to score more than two points, my rank plummeted from 194k to 289k. Ouch!

Not surprisingly, Callum Wilson (£6.6m) continued the trolling…

But, there is no point dwelling on bad Gameweeks, the key is to remain patient, avoid making knee-jerk transfers despite the temptation to do so and put a plan together to bounce back.

Isaac the key to Success?

Watford’s £4.5m striker Isaac Success is an intriguing option. A goal against Huddersfield in his second consecutive start has caught the attention of FPL managers.

With so much value in defence this season, Success can facilitate a switch in formation.

This is something I’m looking at possibly doing this week, downgrading the misfiring Danny Ings (£5.6m) and investing in the Man City defence in a move to 4-4-2.

Benjamin Mendy (£6.4m) vs Aymeric Laporte (£5.8m)

A City defender/goalkeeper is a must, given their run of six consecutive clean sheets. They’ve conceded just three league goals in the opening ten matches with Jon Stankovic (£3.9m), Willy Boly (£4.6m) and DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m) the only players to have beaten Ederson (£5.8m).

Mendy is the FPL favourite this season but Laporte offers a viable alternative. He’s played every minute, racking up seven clean sheets. Pep Guardiola labelled him the best left-footed centre-back in the world recently, which bodes well for his security of starts for us Fantasy managers.

As well as his clean sheets, Laporte is a goal threat, scoring against Wolves in Gameweek 3 and in the 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

With six assists in seven matches, Mendy is hard to ignore. There is always the worry with him though that he will do something to upset Pep and be banished from the first team setup.

There’s no doubt he’s the more exciting FPL pick, but for those who are strapped for cash, Laporte is your man.

There’s a case to be made for doubling up on both Mendy and Laporte or pairing one of them with Ederson.

Transfer headache

One route I could go this week is Ings to Success and Ryan Bennett (£4.2m) to Laporte for free, which would set me up with four premium defenders for Gameweek 11 (Alonso, Robertson, Trippier and Laporte).

A switch from Kieran Trippier (£6.3m) to Matt Doherty (£4.9m) would then be on the cards for Gameweek 13.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) is a problem though. An alternative to the above moves would be Bennett to Fabian Balbuena (£4.4m) and Knockaert to Ross Barkley (£5.8m).

Barkley is worth a punt. He’s got the form and the fixtures. Chelsea have three favourable home ties in their next four (Crystal Palace, Everton and Fulham).

He was rested for the midweek Carabao Cup tie which should see him retain his place in the starting XI for the Palace game on Sunday. His price is what is most appealing, playing an attacking role in a high scoring team. If it doesn’t work out, it’s not the end of the world given his price tag.

Good luck to all in Gameweek 11.

Knockaert was truly bizarre. 38 points is harsh but I couldn't see the logic in these moves at the time.

Yeah I did the same. Stats were actually ok at the time, and all of a sudden he got benched out of nowhere after starting the previous weeks.

So far this season in away matches, Burnley have conceded an average of 13.6 SiB, 23.4 Shots, and 3.4 BC per game.

6 transfers planned over the next 4 weeks to get this team:

    Allison, Stekelenburg
    Mendy, Alonso, Robbo, Doherty, Balbuena
    Salah, Hazard, KDB, Martial, Barkley
    Arnie, Jimenez, Success

How does it look? Is going without premium striker an option? Will it be benching headache every week?

Basically you're punting on a 4-5-1 formation. The biggest risk will be when you lose out on the inevitable Kun or Kane 20 pointers...

you can never plan that far ahead, especially with an international break thrown in.

Nothing wrong with planning, its being too married to the plan that you don't adjust when better solutions present themselves that's problematic.

i dont think you can plan 4 weeks ahead in this game.
Martial and Barkley arent nailed on so i'd only gamble on 1.

Kinda disagree here. Certainly can plan for at least 4 weeks in advance. Sure plans can change in the time but having an outline of what direction your going is a must imo.

I've got 2 FT and struggling to decide what to do, thinking:

    Alisson & AWB > Ryan & Lovren

    Rest of team is:

    Alisson | Hamer
    Alonso | Mendy | Robertson | AWB | Bennett
    Salah | Hazard | Richarlison | Hughes | Højbjerg
    Agüero | Arnautovic | Mitrovic

Kindof want to keep Mitrovic this week but may move him on next week.

Has looked fantastic in the past two games. If he keeps the free role behind the striker (and stays fit), he will be gold at that price. One concern would be the return of Deeney - we've been playing 4231 in his absence, whereas we played 4222 (Deeney and Gray up top) when Deeney was fit. Success has looked good too, but Deeney is a bit of a talisman and tough to leave out when fit. If we go back to 4222, Deulofeu may be less effective than in his current role? But he certainly looks lively

Praying Deeney doesn't come back into the team. He has his uses but Success' all-round play improves the players around him so much.

Anyone care to help me put 2.3M into this team to stop the rot? (1 FT, open to a -4)

      Pat (Beg)
      Alonso Rob Chilwell (Doherty/AWB)
      Haz Mane Richarlison Maddison (Hoj)
      Kun Mitro Wilson

I can afford AWB -> Mendy which looks great but I don't know who I would then bench. Robertson I guess but I don't love that idea.
Would like to shift Mitro to Arnie give form but that prohibits the Mendy move, and Hud and Sou in his next 3 augurs well for Mitrovic.
Seems to be a shift in the goalkeeping vogue, could get in Ederson or Ryan?

I'm way out of the loop at the moment so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

With RAM back, I'm interested how's yours defence will look mid term? Mine is
      Ryan Hart
      Alonso Mendy TAA Doherty AWB

I have two options to go with two of the RAM and rotate Balbuena and Doherty,or to downgrade in attack and get RAM ( obviously in my case AWB stays)
      Cheers

Newcastle or West Ham defender for the next 7-8 gameweeks?

Thinking it's between Balbuena or Lascelles?

I think i'm leaning toward newcastle defense and WH attack. WH look awful at the back at the moment and always believe Rafa can grind out 1-0's when times are tough
