For the third time in a week Fantasy Premier League managers must consider who they hand the captain’s armband too.

Arsenal have the pick of the fixtures on paper but there are still plenty of options to be skippered in Gameweek 16.

We’ve gone over the popular options and analysed the stats once again…

* FPL prices correct at time of writing

Captain Poll

Despite that blank in Gameweek 15, it looks as if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m) will win this week’s captain poll comfortably. At the time of writing, he has the backing of 49% of the voters ahead of Arsenal’s home meeting with Huddersfield Town. He has three goals in his last four matches, more than any other Gunners player in that run.

A long way behind in second place was the winner of the midweek captain poll Harry Kane (£12.5m). Even though he dazzled the skipper competition in Gameweek 15 with a 12-point haul, only 17% of our voters believe he can do that against Leicester on Saturday evening. The Spurs man has at least a goal or an assist in each of his last four Premier League outings.

Hot on Kane’s tails is Aubameyang’s strike partner Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m) with 11.43% of the vote, showing just how much the Fantasy Football Scout community are expecting a big win when Huddersfield come to the Emirates Stadium. Even though he has featured only as a substitute in the last two matches, he still managed either a goal or assist in each one.

Also in the chasing pack is Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) ahead of Liverpool’s trip to face a leaky Bournemouth defence. The Egyptian was benched for the 3-1 win over Burnley and looks set for a return to the starting line-up at the Vitality Stadium. With an average of 5.75 points in his last four matches, Salah seems the most likely Liverpool player to breakthrough at Burnley, hence the 9% backing.

Not surprisingly, Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) is the most popular Manchester City option this week but he could not must much more than 2% backing. The fact that the defending champions have a crunch trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend is probably the main reason he is so far behind in the captaincy debate. After all, his owners should be confident of a start given that he was rested midweek.

Eden Hazard (£11.0m) also suffers from that upcoming fixture as just 0.39% of the voters have backed him ahead of Gameweek 16. Richarlison (£7.1m), Ryan Fraser (£6.2m), Callum Wilson (£7.0m), Anthony Martial (£7.6m), Sead Kolasinac (£4.9m), Felipe Anderson (£7.2m) and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (£6.2m) all look set for higher finishes than the Chelsea man in our poll.

    Mitro vs United
    Laporte vs Chelsea
    Who scores more?

Tough one. I'd Probably go with mitro as its always funner to hope for a goal from your striker than hoping chelsea don't score vs city

    Morning guys,

Help me pick 1 for the Xmas period and beyond:

    A) Laca and David Silva
    B) Mitrovic and Sterling

Currently leaning towards A as it gives me a captaincy option this week, and Mitro's 4 yellow cards is a worry (especially if he were to miss one of his 'easier' games).

How much is 1 million worth in points to you.. Pretty sure I saw a post talking about this once. For eg if Ederson scores 25 points more than Fabianski over the season would that be a good use of an extra 1 million? Same regards Auba vs Laca.. How much would auba have to out score Laca by over the season to justify 1.5? Theres actually a simple question regarding value in fpl hidden in There

    1. Limited & Mediocre Mana…
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 1 day ago

      Fab 4.5 Ederson 5.5

      5.5/4.5 = 1.2222...

I don't think Ederson outscores Flappy by over 20%. The question is, is there better value elsewhere in mid/attack to prioritise this 1.0.

      1. Limited & Mediocre Mana…
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 1 day ago

Also, another point is value WHEN you own someone. Looking at value over a season isn't that useful for most players because the chances are you won't have them for 38 weeks. Keepers and defenders tend to be easier to keep for longer stretches of time.

        1. Valar(Keith)
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 1 day ago

Agreed... Hence why I mentioned Ederson and Fabianksi.. I have never spent a transfer on a keeper(unless WC) and don't intend to either. So it's easier to compare them. Auba and Laca was a wrong comparison on my part

      2. Valar(Keith)
        • 16 Years
        7 years, 1 day ago

Fabianski looks set for the usual 150 point season.. If Ederson can overperform and score 180 then he would prove amazing value. Safe bet seems to be to punt on fabs though by the looks of it

    2. Jebiga
      • 13 Years
      7 years, 1 day ago

I think ederson will have 30-50 points more than Fabianski. I had Ederson from Start and will keep him all season long because hes DDG from the last season. Also Auba is better for me, simply hes better player and will be the top scorere as all of us predicted on the start of the season...

      What do you think ?

      1. Valar(Keith)
        • 16 Years
        7 years, 1 day ago

I have Ederson too and expecting a crazy run of CS's for city.. Expecting a big year For him. That being said a CS for Fabianski usually equals 8 to 9 points.. Add his 1 save point per game on average and he will do well too. Basically if. Ederson gets 3 CS's in 4 games he gets a score of 20(6+6+6+2)..if Fabianski gets 1 Cs in 4 games he gets 18(9 +3+3+3).. Pretty simplistic view but that's the worry with going with Ederson for me. The issue is I want a city defender and don't like laporte due to lack of goal threat

        1. Valar(Keith)
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 1 day ago

The thing with Fabs is I see a max of 2 to 3 CS's only till GW 28.. Apart from this week, soton Burnley, I can see most Teams Scoring Against Them over that run and the issue with keepers is they are long term.. Not short term 5 week punts

Hear me out and tell me your opinions please. I'm holding my WC after CL for more information. I'm thinking of going both Arsenal strikers (Which I have now). Move one of them to Aguero when he is back (Not kane). Have sterling, get son. What do you think?

Ignore Kane but have Auba+Aguero. 2 city mids plus son

Yes - I have no issue with the BOU boys - they have been incredible FPL assets for me and have lots of value locked into them. Obv not ideal that I have them playing and also TAA but will live with it - better than benching them imo

Re. Laporte, apart from fixtures I do not get the frenzy over ARS defenders - they don't have the stats to back it up at all. MCI on the other hand ... need I say more?!

Cheap, great fixtures, OOP prospects (goal + assist potential from kolasanic)

If they were more expensive I wouldn't go near them but can't go too wrong for their price.

I am exactly same as you, I have a lot tied into Fraser. But I only got Wilson at 6.9. My options are the below -

My TV has gone up a lot this WC, I had 6 risers just last night.

I just had another look. I can actually afford team B without a Wilson rise.

However would be good to get the 0.1 which I have lost out on Richy.

Would give me 5m for a Def...out of Dign and Kola, who would you go for?

Looks decent but would try to fit Sane in there and go for something else than Laporte

I’d probably want double City attack, look like scoring a hatful every game. Other than that it looks good.

So Mane is out this gw? Need to get Auba or Laca in, got Salah, Hazard, Martial, Kane and Arnie or just risk and swap only Arnie?

I’ve gone for Kola myself, he’s looked great from what I’ve seen of him. Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures are something else too!

Anyone thought of ditching Richarlison for a couple of gameweeks after Watford?

Yeah, but for Sterling so a clear upgrade. Depends who you’re looking at?

Nope. Those fixtures starting GW19 look great. Not worth the ft to get him out and bring him back in.

Now that Arnie's been ruled out for several weeks, are you still investing in West Ham assets (Anderson, Balbuena, Chicharito...) if you don't have any or are you keeping them if you already own 1-2 West Ham players? Personally, I think I'm going to avoid them now that their best player is out. Even with their fixtures. Maybe Fab could be a good pick but other than that I can't find any other picks.

They can't defend, and now a big part of their offense is missing. What are your plans?

Already own Fab and Anderson. Will keep Fab long term but Anderson’s on trial for the next 2-3.

Own Anderson, giving him another 2 weeks, by that time he’ll have had 6 GW’s of glorious fixtures.

If he hasn’t done it by then he’s gone

West ham is a good fixture for the likes of Palace, Fulham, Soton etc.. And from gw 22 to 28 their fixtures are terrible defensively. This puts me off Fabianski since keepers are long term options and not short term punts. I cannot wait to swap Anderson for Richarlison in 3 weeks either.

0.5m short of this WC team - where would you trim?

    Fabianski, 4.0
    Alonso, Trippier, Bellerin, TAA, Doherty
    Sterling, Richarlison, Martial, FAnderson, 4.2
    Kane, Auba, Kamara

      Probably Alonso?

Why not Alonso to Schindler (anyone in that price range) and then bring in Sané for Martial?

That could work - leaves me 4.5m for Alonso replacement so perhaps Balbuena given fixtures
