There is such a wide range of options for the Fantasy Premier League captaincy in Gameweek 18.

Not only do Manchester City have a favourable fixture against Crystal Palace, Arsenal host Burnley and Spurs travel to Everton.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard have been offering some impressive individual statistics.

We’ve compared the most popular options in our poll against the player, team and opposition statistics to try and come up with the best option this weekend.

Captain Poll

Raheem Sterling (£11.6m) is set to be the poll winner for Gameweek 18 ahead of Crystal Palace’s visit to the Etihad Stadium, with 27% of the vote. The Manchester City midfielder’s popularity probably stems from the fact that he is fairly likely to start this weekend after missing out on the last two line-ups, his minutes managed by Pep Guardiola against Everton and Leicester. In Sterling’s last six Premier League starts he has five goals and five assists, making him a strong candidate for Gameweek 18.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.5m) comes in with just under 19% backing this weekend and is the closest challenger to a poll leader for some weeks. The Arsenal man has been unfortunate not to find the net more often recently, now without a goal since his Gameweek 14 brace against Tottenham. However, a home match against an out-of-form Burnley could be the tonic Aubameyang and his colleagues need after their defeat at Southampton, and his owners seem confident he will deliver.

Leroy Sané (£9.7m) has been backed as an alternative Manchester City option this week, with the German international coming in at third place in the poll. 12% of voters are planning on giving him the captaincy, presumably because of his slightly greater chance of starting the match than Sterling. Sané has been named in the Manchester City line-up in six of the last seven Gameweeks and has considerably less competition for his place while Benjamin Mendy is injured.

Hot on Sané’s tails in the vote is Chelsea man Eden Hazard (£11.0m), backed by 11% at the time of writing. He has been remarkably consistent recently, with a goal and five assists in his last four outings for the Blues. With Leicester City the next to visit Stamford Bridge, Hazard owners will be confident of further returns in Gameweek 18, with a number of them looking to captain him.

Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) leads the chasing pack this weekend, with just under 8% believing he is the ideal captain candidate ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Wolves on Friday night. He is just ahead of Harry Kane (£12.6m) who will travel to Everton on Sunday afternoon, backed by 6% of the poll voters.

Another big name far down the list of popularity is Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) who is fit again and had some minutes in the League Cup midweek. 3.7% believe he is the best option for Gameweek 18, keeping him just ahead of the most popular defender: Matt Doherty (£5.2m). The Wolves man has the support of 1.7% of our voters.

    It's make or break time now. I've gone with Kane, Auba and Sterling as my three big hitters and left out Hazard, Salah and Aguero. Next 4/5 GWs will determine whether that was the correct choice.

        I think its Aubas last week for me regardless. Emery is too unpredictable and he seems loves a halftime substitute.

    2 FT - Some planning to do:
    I want to get rid of TAA, and want to get RIcharlison & maybe Digne (next week)

    Is this a crazy plan?
    This week:
    TAA --> Digne

    Next week for -4
    Brooks --> Richa
    WIlson --> Ings
    Cairney --> Masuaku

    Fab / Stek
    VVD/ TAA* / Kolasinac* / AWB / Schindler
    Sterling / Sane / F. Anderson / Brooks* / Cairney
    Kane / Auba / Wilson

        Not really but since i have two FT. I get the extra bench player.

        Could go Cairney to masuaku aswell.

    As we approach the climax of the festive period, we once again face the prospect of a week filled with rotation. Of course, this is the first gameweek of 4 that come on a space of 11 days, so could we see some preparatory restings for players?

    Fortunately, we have had the brief respite of the League cup to hand some of our players a well deserved rest, but others were less fortunate.

    Which of your players are you eyeing nervously as possible rotation risks this week?
    Which big names do you think will miss out?
    Who would you earmark as a suprise name in this weekends lineups?

        A Sane benching is one of those things that seems very unlikely until you remember it's Pep and his random name picker running the team...

        The fact that Wilson played 90 is equally reassuring about his fitness and worrying that Howe might have zero intentions on playing him. Will remain hopeful with him though, fingers crossed.

          Jesus has to be a threat to Sane starts and minutes. Sure he came in as a lefthand side attacker originally.
          Everton and Spurs a concern due to short intervals. People seem to be overlooking Richarlison rotation when there are plenty of options for Silva if needed.

              nope. maybe a long-term replacement but Pep was loving Kun at the time - comparing him to Romario.
              Definitely started on the left when Kun was available

      For me, Auba, Wilson and Kola are the big risks, but I'm happy to give them all this week.

      Arsenal have a terrible first half record at home this season, so if Auba comes on as a sub against a potentially stubborn Burnley, I can't see it being the end of the world...

      Wouldn't be surprised to see some rotation in the spurs lineups soon, lots of players that could miss games there.

      Feel like Kane is not as nailed as people expect over Xmas.
      Salah and Hazard are the big hitters I expect to play a big part in every match.
      Look for United for surprise picks. Will Bailly and Linderlof be nailed? Where will Pogba play? Will Rashford be No 9?

      My shout is Mata as a differential at number 10.

          i own eriksen and alli, am not worried about rotation as my bench is solid if they they get rested (for example my subs this week: mitrovic, diop, digne)
          also most players from all teams will be rested at least for 1 game so as said here before, going for strong playing 13-14 players instead of usual 11-12 will be key to succes during holiday period.

      My concern is Son. I did not look at Spurs dates and just thought he would be a great option with Poch burning him out before going to Asia.
      I cannot think of a safe Spurs asset actually.

        Why on earth would anyone think that a manager would "burn out" a player before internationals? If anything, wouldn't they rather ease them before they leave to make sure they are more rested when they return?

        A burned out Son leaving for Asian Cup will still be burned out when returning.

      I have a similar conundrum. Playing Digne and Jimenez, my bench order is currently:

      Doherty, Højbjerg, Wan-Bissaka

      Doherty and Wan-Bissaka are capable of random points and Højbjerg has been lurking on that goals imminent table for weeks.

    Play Balbuena or Schindler?

    Cheers.

      Not much in it, I'd go with Schindler if you have Fabianski in goal:

      Clean sheet odds:
      HUD: 31%
      WHU: 29%

      I would do, it depends if you plan to invest the money or get Salah back after this run of games. Salah will continue to score well, but Hazard has the higher potential.

      I'd keep Wilson for this week and do it next GW - depending on how United and Rashford perform
