Captain Poll

Manchester City assets set to compete for Gameweek 4 captaincy

Manchester City assets are expected to compete amongst each other for the Gameweek 4 captaincy in the coming days.

Pep Guardiola’s men host Brighton on Saturday afternoon, one of the most appealing fixtures for premium Fantasy assets.

The Seagulls have looked a little fragile at the back in their last two outings, against West Ham and Southampton, and conceded four times the last time they faced Manchester City, admittedly under a different manager.

However, the reigning champions are in scintillating attacking form, with Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) proving a reliable source of points in the first three Gameweeks.

In that time, he is joint-top in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, his five strikes level with Norwich forward Teemu Pukki (£6.9m).

However, those in possession of Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) will almost certainly be considerin the forward after he finished as the top-scoring player from Manchester City’s recent win over Bournemouth.

The Argentinian played 90 minutes for the first time this season at the Vitality Stadium, which coincided with Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) being ruled out with a hamstring problem.

That should keep the Brazilian out until after the international break, so Aguero’s route into the team against Brighton is unrivalled, and his chances of minute-management by Guardiola will be reduced too.

Also looking like a viable candidate is Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), who recorded his fourth assist of the campaign against Bournemouth.

While he is not quite as explosive as his colleagues further forward, the Belgian midfielder has a history of being a reliable source of points when he is a regular in the team.

Many of the other premium options face tougher tasks in Gameweek 4, although that’s not to suggest there won’t be attacking returns on offer.

Liverpool travel to Burnley this weekend, to face a Clarets defence that has got back to its best under Sean Dyche this season.

However, the Reds have scored an average of three goals per game in 2019/20, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) involved in four of them so far.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mané (£11.5m) was the key man against Southampton, while Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) has been a constant threat for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Spurs go head-to-head in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.

Following a blank against Newcastle, interest in Harry Kane (£11.1m) may be low, but he does have a good record against the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) has attacking returns in each Gameweek so far this season.

Alternatively, Pukki might garner some support for Gameweek 4 after an excellent start to the season.

With five goals in three matches, a match-up with the West Ham defence could reap rewards for the Norwich man.

I would probably keep Kane because after arsenal game he has an amazing run of fixtures. I would go Perez and Jota out... Pukki and Cantwell in 🙂

Yes. Spurs always thrive away from home and don't forget that it won't always be August...

Agree. North London Derby matches have been like basketball games in the past too. I remember some 7 and 8 goal thrillers.

Kane always seems to score in NLD, and as a Gooner that hurts lol.

May go the Pukki n Cantwell route and give the Citizen another chance

Hadn't thought about doing that but the lure of KDB is strong

Is my team ok? Im being very patient this year even after an averaget start (600k OR). Taken no hits and still have my wildcard:

    Heaton
    Robbo VVD Coleman
    Sterling(C) KDB Martial Ceballos Perez
    Haller Aubameyang

    Button / Soyuncu / Lundstram / Greenwood 0.3 itb 1ft

If Martial is out i will probably bench him for Greenwood or Soyboy

    Heaton/Pope
    TAA-VVD-Digne (Lundstram-Rico)
    McGinn-Salah-Sterling-Martial-Cantwell
    Pukki-Vardy (Greenwood)
    1,3M ITB and 2 FT.

I want to get KDB or Aguero.

    Suggestions?
