The UEFA Champions League and Europa League group stages get underway on the other side of the international break.

The first ties take place in between Gameweeks 5 and 6, with the final group matches scheduled for mid-December.

The seven Premier League sides involved in European competition will also enter the Carabao Cup at the third round stage and, if these clubs progress to the quarter-final of that competition, they will play twice a week, every week, from now until the turn of 2020 – with the exception of the international breaks.

Four of the “big six” sit in the top seven of our Season Ticker over the next six Gameweeks (we’ll be Frisking the Fixtures over the international break) and players from these teams may be dominating Fantasy managers’ thoughts when it comes to transfers and Wildcards.

With that in mind, we thought it was worth a look at the fixture schedule for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the next two months, given that all of these teams are still involved in European competition.

We have stopped at the end of October as the TV fixtures for November and beyond have yet to be announced, so there is a lot of rejigging to the Premier League calendar still to factor in.

We’ve had a fairly easy ride in the first month of 2019/20 but rotation may start to become more of an issue with all seven of the aforementioned sides competing on multiple fronts.

Jurgen Klopp said of his squad ahead of Gameweek 4:

We need them all, we need them all 100%. It is the very first part of the season, the first four Premier League games, and we had a busier schedule than other teams but still not that busy during the week.

That will all come afterwards, so no reason for resting players at the moment. It is about finding rhythm, finding the mood again, that we do the right things in the right moment. It is not the moment for a lot of changes.

After this international break, that will change completely. In the moment, the defensive set-up or whatever, as always, it is about who is in the best shape.

We have had a full week to train and when the boys won the last game and showed me then that they are still in their best possible shape, then we will only think about a couple of really small changes.

Pep Guardiola, when asked about Joao Cancelo (£5.4m), also said last week:

When we come back from the international break, we have Norwich, after three days, we have to travel to Ukraine, after three days we have a game here, then Carabao Cup. Start the real season in terms of a lot of games.

Joao, we’re delighted what we have seen but arrived late so was not in pre-season. Joao started to understand what to do. And now, maybe tomorrow, maybe after the international break, he start to play. He has to be ready.

Wolves, one of the most settled sides of 2018/19, have already been in midweek European action this season and some Fantasy managers have already suffered the consequences of Nuno Espirito Santo’s Europa League-influence rotation: Diogo Jota (£6.4m), Jonny (£5.5m), Leander Dendoncker (£4.5m) and Joao Moutinho (£5.5m) have all been benched once in the league already.

Below is a club-by-club itinerary for September and October, with the fixtures in italics Champions League/Europa League/Carabao Cup ties.

We will look at how the respective clubs’ managers approached team selection around the group stage last season in a follow-up article tomorrow.

Dunno about good move but you can't have them all. Think Aguero could be very dangerous next couple of GWs but then Jesus will start eating into his minutes again.

We do not know though how Pep roulette is going to happen this season.

If Kun has the same amount of minutes as last season which works out to less than 3 games compared to what Sterling had them I am happy with that. Kun was also injured for 4 GW's last season. Could have easily outscored Sterling with points.

Aguero is in beast form, yes He has Jesus wanting minutes but Sterling has Mahrez and Bilva wanting minutes too if Pep had to start with Jesus and Aguero.

Guess the picture will become clearer once Jesus is fit again.

Will be interesting if Aguero starts against Norwich and then Jesus plays the Champions league game midweek as it could setup a little run of league games for Aguero (nor, WAT, eve) with Jesus (shk, pne) playing the midweek cup games.

Yeah, going to be very interesting to see.

Thank heavens I can just go Aguero out, Sterling in if things go down the pan for Aguero but you want a player with his form on the pitch. Looks like he will score in every game at the moment.

I have both but am only considering capping Aguero between them right now. Who knows how many goals he could get if he starts vs both of Norwich and Watford.

Not sure on Wesley but have a look at McGinn's price. You cannot go wrong having him as a 5th midfielder.

it is cantwell to mcginn or greenwood to wesley, or just play lundstram

        1. FOO FIGHTER
          • 7 Years

Not sold on Wesley. I have Greenwood on my bench and was thinking to trade him for Ayew but that money is better off upgrading my defence. How many times does one use their 3rd sub? Greenwood can do his job as 3rd sub for the rest of the season unless I have to move on Aguero.

I want to move on Cantwell as do not want a Norwich double up with Pukki. I can upgrade Cantwell too.

McGinn a decent option for your 5th midfielder. His job is to keep on making the points tick over.

I am in strange conundrum here. I would ideally want to wait till the end of international break to make my transfers but it seems I will get priced out of my planned moves due to Jota's imminent price drop.

Should I do Jota + Wan Bissaka -> Barnes + Otamendi now to avoid getting priced out?

    Or

Should I wait till the press conferences and then probably do Jota + Wan Bissaka -> Barnes + 5.0 Defender?

Salah, Sterling and KDB are making fantasy teams so boring, feeling like you have to have those 3 really takes the soul and character out your team.
I want to explore players like Son, Pepe, Auba, Aguero but the way the prices are your basically foolish to risk it.

I feel like Auba is ofc going to be a good pick for the season, and Son and probably Pepe will explode soon enough but it will be nightmare trying to get them in.

I have Sterling KDB Mane and Son and I don't think the team is that poor elsewhere
Having Salah over Mane would of course mean further sacrifices in defence or up front.

I think one of salah/sterling is definitely losable. Sterling if you go for aguero instead, salah based on pretty rubbish fixtures after Newcastle, which essentially gets you two mid-premium differentials. Some combination will probably score more than salah+6.5m in that time, it's just picking the right one, and having to take the consequences if Salah hauls

Salah can score against anyone, so can Sterling but Salah = FPL King ever since he arrived at LFC and I expect he will be top of the pile come end season again.

Probably. But let me set a scene:

-He is top player come GW38
-He does this despite a poor period in GW6-12
-You sell him for that period and bring in the mid-upper priced players for GW6-12.

-You bring him back for GW13

That’s how you force yourself high up the ranks.

I’m considering no Salah or Manw on wildcard. Would have a midfield of Sterling-KDB-Son-Mount

Gives so much flexibility in the team. My main thought is I’m more likely to captain Man City players so 12.5 is a lot to spend...

      No one can know yet.

Integrating a record transfer (Pepe) and the best player (Ceballos- on a one year loan with no option, ensures by Ceballos himself) is a tough task.

Not to mention he has defensive duties in Pool's system whereas Salah is the furthest man forward. And he still managed to share the Golden Boot. Probably why Salah is so selfish and doesn't want to pass to him.

True. Firmino was even more open than Mane in that match. That was the moment that pissed even Klopp off. But this has been happening more frequently with Mane since last season.

Yes & out of those 3 forward men, Salah is the least clinical imo.
              Mane>Firmino>Salah

Salah will always have big chances to score but will waste alot of them compared to Bobby & Sadio

Yes but on some occasions, I see Mané as the furthest man forward from the 3. It is the fluidity in the attack.Mane is just as good as Salah to me.

Suppose it’s the Pukki effect and people getting over excited by the SU Villa fixtures first up and expecting double digits. To my mind the exciting fixtures start in 6 - you missed Watford out!

Shouldn’t be allowed to drop. Price drops shouldn’t be based solely on sales.

even tho 3 seems the right way, 4 at the back still appeals to me, and double pool defence also still looks appealing. TAA + VVD returns still not bad even with lack of cs

      I’m on TAA/Robbo/Coleman and Digne.

I’m happy with the return so far.

Played all four every week, 69 points.

Average return of 4.3 per person per game for an average price of 6.4m.

Heres some pretty damning statistics about corners which I thought was quite interesting:

    - Since 2000 PL corners which led to a goal (indirectly) = 3.1%
    - Since 2000 PL corners which led to a goal (directly) = 1.2%
    - Across the big leagues 40% of corners dont clear the first man
    - Across the big leagues only 16% result in an attempt on goal, with only 7% of those attempts being on target

So does having a player who takes corners really add to their appeal? I doubt it, but maybe there is some exceptions to that rule. (TAA says hi)

No need to WC this team right?
-4 though. Moving AWB -> Walker/Otamendi after next week for free. 0.5 ITB

    Ryan
    TAA - Robertson - Digne - Lundstram
    Salah - Sterling - Dilva - Mount - James
    Wesley

    (Button, Pukki, AWB, Greenwood)
