FPL team reveals: Scoutcast regular Seb is poised to pick a prudent plan

The first thing to address with this ‘team reveal’ is that I would not necessarily call it that. This is more of a ‘draft reveal’.

My approach this pre-season has been to draft a number of teams, each based around different strategies, such as big at the back, heavy in midfield or a three £10m+ player team. From these, I will select my final team to start the season. Whilst some tinkering will naturally occur, and even be necessary in the case of late team news, I will generally avoid this in favour of switching between entire drafts rather than individual players.

The idea here is to remove those last-minute, ill-formed, impulsive player swaps that more often than not make our teams worse than they do better. I know I can be prone to second-guessing myself come the deadline, so I’m going to attempt to remove that to some degree by allowing myself to select only from some pre-formed, well-reasoned and rationally researched teams.

In this way, if I do suddenly fancy a player from a certain price bracket or wonder what happens with an extra premium, I’ve got the broad answer already thought-out and primed for implementation, complete with all the considerations that come with that, rather than needing to rejig an entire team with minutes to go until the big kick-off.

This does of course mean there may be some players that I have intentionally or unintentionally rejected out of hand, due to them being neither in, nor attainable in, any of my drafts, but I am okay with that. We all do that to some degree, whether we realise it or not. No one considers all 500+ players at once when thinking about their line-up. We shorten this list to something more manageable in our heads and pick from there, be that because they are players we are familiar with, players we have seen mentioned elsewhere or because they have already appeared in one of our many drafts over the summer.

With that being said, in this article I’d like to share the team I think I am most likely to go with on Friday night: the ‘BruNO draft’.

Best bench fodder that may get some game time?

    A) Omobamidele

Norwich won't have much of the ball though. If I remember two seasons ago Norwich were dependant on break away counters and it was how they scored their goal when losing 4-1.

They are good little players alright. But I feel Norwich will be more worried about Liverpool's threat during the 90min.
I only have two liverpool Tsimikas and Salah. So I am not too worried either way. If I was doubling up on Liverpool defence there would be a nagging doubt.

On the other hand Pukki's preseason was disrupted by covid.

    Martinez
    Shaw - Dias - Digne
    Salah - Rapfinha - Grealish - Son
Iheanacho - Calvert Levin - Ings
Subs: Foster, White, Bissouma and Manquillo.

Nuno was supposedly trying to sell Doherty. Plus remember Nuno only seems to have a 4 at the back choice at Spurs so far. I would prefer regullion same price as Doherty. Plus Doherty has Tangana and Aurier competition at right back.

Think I will go Mahrez and Benrahma ahead of Barnes and Greenwood as it will give me more flexibility to get in the likes of Son, Lukaku etc if they hit the ground running. Hopefully it works out!

Yes, picking aBrentford forward or Norwich midfielder is seen as standard practice, but Watford players not to be touched with a barge pole. Funny that they qualified ahead of Brentford! Herd mentality. Mind you, I've not picked anyone from the three teams most likely to be relegated!

Fair enough. Another poster just mentioned Deeney to me as an alternative for the opening few gameweeks and 1m cheaper proven in the PL etc.
