So, we’re now one Gameweek into the new season and it couldn’t have gone much better with a schedule packed full of goals – 34 of them in all, to be precise.

That in turn led to some huge Fantasy Premier League (FPL) scores, but as focus now shifts to Gameweek 2, here are some observations from the opening weekend that I found interesting and my transfer/team plans for the weekend.

KINGS OF THE CROSSES

Everton took to the wings against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, sending in crosses from all angles.

Lucas Digne (£5.5m) and Andros Townsend (£5.5m) supplied most of them, with the aim of getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible in an attempt to capitalise on Dominic Calvert-Lewin‘s (£8.0m) power in the air.

Everton’s final-third passes (successful in green) v Southampton

Calvert-Lewin’s total of five shots in the box (including three headers) wasn’t beaten by any other forward in Gameweek 1, which bodes well for his prospects ahead of a kind run of fixtures against Leeds United (a), Brighton and Hove Albion (a), Burnley (h), Aston Villa (a) and Norwich City (h).

Have Gundogan and torn on what to do.

Am considering Sarr, Bailey, Torres and Benrahma. Benrahma the bandwagon this week but worried about Lingard and the Leicester fixture isn't great. Would probably get Bailey as he has NEW, BRE in his next two but there's a chance Ings and Watkins play through the middle with Buendia and Bailey wide. I'd rather Bailey was in a front 3, tbh.

  Bailey is a wait and see imo
  Sarr is great option playing for Watford
  really tricky basing decisions on whether transfers do or don't eventuate.
  Not sure I see Sarr to Liverpool unless they see issues with the front 3 where they're likely to miss chunks of games due to Afcon etc (Sarr likely playing for Senegal as well)

    yes, I'm worried about bringing in Bailey too early. He's an absolute waste playing left or right mid, but I either take the risk or play it safer with Sarr and wait and see. Definitely leaning towards the latter now, despite the tougher next two fixtures.
