Who do we think will be the surprise package(s) this season?

Some will disagree, but I think Bournemouth will surprise many. Areola is a very good coach. The Basques in Northern Spain certainly produce some fantastic managers. Despite their tough fixtures at the start, if they can get Kluivert firing with Solanke, they could match the Eddie Howe era, possibly even better.

(bottomed) Anyone on a Verbruggen + Estupinan double up? I'm not sure if it's a good idea

Doesn't matter. One is a GK and the other is outfield

No but if they concede just once, that's most likely gonna be 2 blanks. With a different keeper, it's not a double blow

With a different GK it's double the risk and half the risk at the same time. Just pick the best players.

Deulofail is right. It doesn't matter. It will make your rank each week slightly more volatile but over the course of the season would make no difference.

The only small consideration is they would block each others bonus points.

Thanks for the support! In return, I am not going to support you. I don't believe there is any consideration for bonus points necessary. They will still score the points that they will score, so whether Verbruggen scores more points than another GK is not affected by your picking of Estupinan.

If you have a GK and Def from different teams and they both win 1-0 you still have a shot of 6baps.

If Brighton win 1-0 its a max of 5.

Very small consideration which isn't worth thinking about because it comes down to impossible to predict margins, but for the OCD like me it's still a consideration

When you win your ML by 1pt you'll know why 😆

FWIW, I'm leaning towards the BRI keeper + Estupinan.

Trouble for me is Europa League starts GW5/6.

We see it most times / the stats back it up... Thursday games hurt the league performances of middling clubs.

I am. Obviously if the keeper is uncertain by the deadline I might change.

I watched the play off final, it was terrible. The bloke next to me said whoever wins goes straight down again and he's right. They are 4/9 to go down, that's odds on. Basically target Luton all season. My first play on livefpl had me transferring to a new keeper quite soon anyway.

As an arsenal fan I see odegaard as a trap waiting to happen. Havertz and him working together will be sharing a lot of the output odegaard had last season. He will get points but I just can't see an odegaard and Shaw combo producing as many points as a Trent and Ramsey/Enciso combo

Benching headaches all over this team. Raya will leave so I’d take him out for someone else like ramsdale or have a rotation of keepers like Pickford & Leno. Defence is fine for now. I would downgrade Ferguson to change mount to Bruno/rashford but keep an eye out in preseason

Agree with other commenters, you've got one too many attackers you'd want to start most GWs. (Any time goal scoring punts are hard enough, let alone trying to predict thin margins like Ferguson vs. Mitoma.)

Use this as an opportunity to downgrade somewhere & use those funds to bolster elsewhere.

Or, save a few million in anticipation of a FT you're eyeing up GW2 or GW3? (Eg. Leave £1.5 in the bank in case Foden doesn't start so, you could hop on Son or Rashford.)

Thanks, was a bit worried about who to leave on bench in 1st match. Will take advice and probably downgrade Ferguson and then play with a 3-5-2 formation.

What do you think about Mitoma vs Enciso, both can obviously score and assist, but presume Mitoma more guaranteed to start.

No comment re Trafford as gk at Burnley, does anyone think he might be worth a punt as No 1 at Burnley when he goes ?

First, I'm no fan of Utd. But, wondering what "too much" means?

Both Bruno & Rash were top 6 in scoring last yr & each have a decent enough track record in FPL.

Bruno is useless FPL option without penalties. It was that circus VAR sesason where he got all those pens and after that he is average for that price.

First, I hate that you're making me defend a Utd player btw.

But, mate, it's easy enough t look these things up vs. creating a story in our head & sticking to it.

Bruno had 2 PK goals last yr in the Prem & finished Top 10 in scoring.

His xGI was exceptional, on par or better than Rash last yr.

So, if we're OK with someone like Saka for £8.5 the numbers / past performances tell us Bruno's OK too.

And btw, what "top 6" scoring means? He was 7th scoring mid. Gross had 7pts less then him and not even mentioned.

Mate, apologies everything else I've said, should be disqualified because we miscounted by one spot FPL pts wise.

Now we're at the point where you're niy picking so, this is where I'll exit.

IMO Bruno has the underlying stats & fixtures to back up his price. You disagree & that's cool. GL to you.

It's decent enough and you've got Man United midfield represented but the obvious fault is no Salah or Kane but it's imposed to have them all.

I'd probably swap Bruno and Trent for Sala and someone.

      Oh, and your keeper too.

      But it's up to you.

First draft- leaves 1.5 m in bank which may use on Ferguson to Gakpo in week 2 for home game v BOU. Midfield with double Arsenal and double United and Foden( if starting) allows for transition to Chelsea/Spurs mids if firing come week 3 fixtures turn. Also can downgrade to get TAA if firing.
    Thoughts welcome?

    Pickford
    Estupiñán Gabriel Shaw
Rashford Saka Foden Martinelli B Fernandes
    Haaland Ferguson

Considered Ramsdale and Stones over Pickford and Gabriel with the cash? I like it a lot, but would want a touch more money on the field considering Foden and Ferguson are not sure starters.

Cheers- certainly considered Ramsdale Stones combo although then becomes more difficult to move Ferguson up if wanted to move to 7.5 forward unless I start with 6.5 mid over Foden.

I think a 6.5 mid will be an important price point to cover at the start of the season. If Mitoma scores GW1 his price will skyrocket!

    Flekken
    TAA Estupinan Zinchenko Ake
    Mitoma Rashford Maddison Saka
    Haaland Gakpo

    4.0 Mbuemo botman 4.5

Bit of a benching headache gw1 but I like the general structure of the team. I could potentially downgrade one of the 5.0 defenders and upgrade someone in midfield and attack but I quite like having options.

Waiting to see what else happens in the transfer market.

    Thoughts?

    @admin

When do you plan to launch/re add the new fixture ticker to the member area?

I feel like without it you’re literally robbing my membership as the ticker is the main reason I pay for membership and with the current ticker available I can’t use it because your site is so poor on mobile that I can’t even select less GW’s to view. It actually borders on impressive that in 2023 a website still can’t function properly on mobile.

      • 8 Years

They sold the membership (at an increased price) based on this new beta area. Not only was it shite, but it was never improved, and now it's gone. Should offer a refund if they have a shred of integrity. Not to mention that releasing the new area after the season starts is... so stupid. I'm not paying again for something that I can't use yet (not again!).

Fully agree with everything. As you said, they mis-sold their membership based on the new members area. If they put as much attention into it as they did promoting it maybe I could do something as hugely complicated as see a 4 week view of the ticker on my phone.

It is amazing that after 2 years in beta, they drop it altogether, without a word.

I'd you really want to use the ticker you can switch to desktop mode.

Even with the desktop mode, they have put the old ticker feature where we have to click every single time we need to move a team up or down.

I liked that new ticker where we could select and drag teams up and down.

And see the previous results when you hover over a fixture on a lappy.

But, you can't have a half finished upgrade for two years. It shows a severe lack of resources at ffs.

There's bugs in the rmt tool that have been there since day one.

    Thoughts on this squad?

    Pickford
    TAA - Esupiñán - Pedro P - Botman
    Rashford - Saka - Enciso - Mbeumo
    Haaland - Kane

    (Strakosha - Bell - Mendes - Semenyo)

    1. Eightball
      • 3 Years

I would be worried about Enciso minutes. If it looks likely from pre season that he will play most games he could be a really good pick but he is a wait and see for me. Mitoma much more nailed if you can find the extra 1.0m from somewhere.

No I'm actually not sure. I know it worked great, but with a very different midfield configuration & an injection of creativity in central areas where it was completely lacking last season, it could end up being better for the team to have Salah drifting into more central areas fed by Szoboszlai & Trent wider again

    Would you rather…

    Pickford, Estupinan (+0.5)
    Steele/Verbruggen, Shaw

This is dependent on pre-season showing us a clear first choice at Brighton of course. Not sure where I’d use the 0.5, probably just keep it in the bank.

To partner Trent, Saliba, Botman, Beyer in defence, and a 4.0 keeper.

I’m a little worried about Estupinan plummeting in price after GW3 with such a high ownership.
