0.59 xGI per 90 is nice for a 5.5 midfielder. Hopefully Fulham make him the main man.

If Carvalho goes to Leicester, he could be nice to own with Morgan.

    Latest draft.

    Henderson | 4.0
    Alexander-Arnold | Gvardiol | Mykolenko | Barco | Faes
    Salah (v) | Eze | Nkunku | Smith Rowe | Rogers
    Wood | Haaland | Isak (C)

Tempted to go for a barebones defence to have a 10M midfielder. A lot of the 4.5 defenders like Murillo, Robinson, etc. could be fantastic short-term at the start.

I think if you want Haaland and Salah barebones defence is the only way to go and strength the mids. Just for the start of the season barebones defence is viable. To get Salah and Haaland I even looked at 3 rotating 4.0 defender to fill the third defender spot.

I would go with something like this! Easy to move to any attacker with good current form at the time.

        Henderson | 4.0
        Barco | Murillo | Mykolenko | Robinson | Faes
        Salah | Son | Eze | Nkunku | 4.5
        Wood | Haaland | Isak

Yeah, I think it will work well. Robinson has good attacking threat. Mykolenko is good value and can rotate a bit with Barco. Murillo has fantastic fixtures and Forest should be better this year at set-pieces.

Hard to justify TAA without knowing how Liverpool will play and if he'll start right away. Conor Bradley's been fantastic so maybe Slot will use TAA more advanced in easier games.

Rashford didn't look very scorey thus far in pre-season ; Jota is unlikely to start with Nunez, Gakpo and Diaz back. I worry a bit about Havertz time given Arteta trying to shop window Jesus.

Rashford looked lively in the last game tbh and Jota 100% starts if he’s fit, he’s the best out and out finisher Liverpool have by a million miles. Minutes would be more of the concern, with those lot on the bench.

ESR feels like wishful thinking to me. I mean, he might be great but he’s not played much for 2 years, and at a different club.

CHO, on the other hand, was banging them in for a team that relied on him and has looked sharp pre-season by all accounts.

  12. Ser Davos
    • 10 Years
    1 year, 4 months ago

I'm re-framing the new BPs with a bit of Captain Obvious thrown in

Ultimately, we each have to *play* three defenders and one GK

so although the defenders points are being curtailed due to the changes, we're still in need of trying to have access to decent defender points

I'm not articulating/conveying very well, but I look at the likes of Porro and Muric and all the BPs they would lose, but they wouldn't be losing it to other defensive assets; the BPs are hypothetically moving forward

Ultimately, the defender pie of points will be lower, but we're still going to want to try and scoop a lot of those points nonetheless as they'll still be relatively valuable, possibly even more valuable with the changes

    1. Ser Davos
      • 10 Years
      1 year, 4 months ago

the defenders points are almost cordoned off. You can see where I'm failing to get to with the woolly explanation

    2. Bad Kompany
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 4 months ago

Less points for the top ones means the entire pack is closer so might be able to get more points by upgrading a cheap attacker than a cheap defender. It’s a small change though and I feel like some are overreacting

    3. Ginkapo FPL
      • 14 Years

You are suggesting that the gap between the Arsenal backlone and other defenders is only going to grow

      1. Ser Davos
        • 10 Years
        1 year, 4 months ago

not with that post particularly. More trying to still get decent defender points rather than a 4.5-backwater-afterthought

        1. Ser Davos
          • 10 Years
          1 year, 4 months ago

you're still going to want the value/top scoring defenders ultimately

    4. F4L
      • 10 Years

bps changes favour goal threat and subsequently devalue assist potential assets

best to target xG now and high shots per 90 defenders, like Gabriel over White etc

and yeah cs potential arguably more important.

for porro it would be massive if Spurs just stopped conceding more than 1 more often. 1 is ok and an assist with some shots/chances created will still leave him in contention for bonus. Spurs conceding 2+ will really hurt his chances of bonus

I have based this time on 4 players, who are the talismans of their teams and had a full preseason. Salah, Halland, Isak, Son.

Rest I am trying to find value, where a player is breaking through from end of last year or had a bad last year but is expected to to whole lot better this season. In defence I don't want Trent at the moment, Arsenal defence is too costly with their starting fixtures, City will leak goal initally still wanted Gvardiol but can't afford. In defence trying to find attacking 4.5 wingbacks. Don't like boring CB picks. Risk vs reward it is.

Trying to avoid players without any preseason minutes for the first few game weeks. So here goes my current draft,

    Flekken
    Munoz Hall Robinson
    Salah Son Rashford CHO
    Halland Isak Muniz

    Valdi, Rogers, Barco, Faes

    Please share your thoughts gentlemen.

If the transfer goes through is Guehi going straight into everyone's teams?

    For me it's 100% a yes.

I'm going Lewis Hall if it's likely that he plays

why? He's a defensive centre back, doesn't assist or score much.

Tbh I’m not sure why everyone is jumping on Eze. Palace are a bit of an unknown atm, as players are leaving left right and centre - he could even be next. Rashford has looked fairly lively in pre season, and could even start up top next week.

Thoughts on KDB before bringing in Foden?

      Flying under the radar.

He's under 10 for the first time in a while. He's been injury prone recently but I don't think relies on speed so much any more with his pinpoint passes and football brain. The question is how much he'll be protected. How's his pre-season been?

Which gameweek do you believe you’ll wildcard?

I’m trying to hold on until GW7/8 without Haaland, holding on to Liverpool’s fixtures.
If not, GW19 would be the dream.

Ideally, around GW19. Realistically, GW3 after I realise not having Haaland was a huge mistake.

I don’t think it will be.
Only 2 GWs I’d captain him in the first 6

Yes Haaland v No Haaland (along with Salah) has come down to this--

Any equivalent priced options could be considered too.
    1. Bruno/Son/Watkins
    2. Gordon/Rogers/Haaland. Rogers rotating with Hudson Odoi/Smith-Rowe

Which looks better? Haaland over 40% ownership atm.

1 is closer to what I'm having, but I don't fancy Bruno.
