Point predictions? None can be accurate enough, imo. Just an estimate based on a lot of data you already have access to, but condensed into a single number. Such stats are usually better for long-term decisions because that's where averages play out best. It's like those numbers from gambling sites: if you take them at face value, they're just a numerical representation of an engaged FPL manager's best guess

I find them more useful in fantasy games where I'm not so involved and need a condensed stat summary, like UCL or Euros

    Basically my final draft, feedback welcomed please (no Salah or Haaland);

    Pickford
    Trent, Saliba, Munoz
    Son, KDB, Ode, Gordon
    Watkins, Isak, Wood

    Virginia, ESR, Robinson, Barco

    Thoughts;
Downgrade Watkins to Solanke (and keep the 1.5M banked to switch them back in GW3)
Downgrade Munoz to 4.5M (bank the 0.5M to upgrade Son to Palmer in GW3)
    Both of the above.

That's where I'm at, otherwise I'm think I'm as happy as I can be without Salah/Haaland in that team. Minor doubt over Saliba after recent comments from other posters (basically White is worth the extra 0.5M).

No Salah or Haaland just looks like suicide to me. I think the whole idea of spreading money throughout the team is a little bit overrated, and you've still got Chris Wood. If you're set on spreading the funds like this, I'd at least try and get Havertz or Solanke 3rd striker.

I have captain choices to cover the Salah/Haaland side of it. I have good squad depth. I can easily make Wood Solanke but that would mean making Trent a 5.5M defender and having zero Liverpool cover.

I don't rate Havertz (FWIW) and don't want Havertz + Ode. I rate Ode above Havertz.

You've got reliable starters there so there's no real need for ESR on the bench imo. I'd downgrade him and Pickford to do Wood to Solanke if it was me

Pickford downgrade was a consideration I was thinking with Onana gone and Branthwaite out for GW1. However ESR to a 4.5M doesn't feel worth it, definitely considering just losing Watkins for Solanke to start

I prefer no Salah or Haaland but with Palmer, Foden, De Bruyne and Watkins not up to speed to start the season it doesn't make sense anymore. Also Arsenal's iffy fixtures and same for Spurs. Once it all clears up I'll make the switch from Haaland and Trent. To start, it's potentially a disaster imo.

      1. Zenith UK

Could be a disaster could be a huge return. I think Kevin and Palmer start, I do appreciate question marks over Foden and Watkins. I was going to rotate away from Son come GW3 anyway (monitor CHE & AVL assets for GW1/2)

ESR and Robinson feel excessive for how rarely you'll use them. How often will you bench Wood before GW11? Once, vs Liverpool?

Maybe Robinson first sub (bench Munoz for him sometimes) and a nailed 4.5 at 2nd sub, a spot you'll rarely need to dig into before first wildcard

Watkins is a bit iffy at the start, so Solanke there... That's enough money for Saka over Ode

Not sure KDB starts GW1. Would rather have Jota warm the spot for Foden

      1. Zenith UK
        • 10 Years

I'll run this team through LivFPL transfer planner see how frequently I think I need to change.

Definitely will rotate Robinson/Munoz, Trent and Saliba can set and forget.

Watkins agreed, only recently realised he might be a risk for GW1. What would you do GW3 switch Saka back down to Ode and Solanke back to Watkins? (Should easily roll those FTs).

I think Kevin starts GW1 to be honest, but as you mentioned it's only a 1 week punt to switch back to Foden for GW2.

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years
          2 years, 19 days ago

My issue with the GW1 KDB punt is that team predictors don't expect him to start. I see 30 minutes off the bench for KDB and Foden in GW1, so it reduces his appeal as a one-off punt, Kevin didn't get enough minutes vs Man U to make me comfortable with a starting berth. It's possible, of course, but just that bit too risky for me

Hence my Jota preference, who I think is the most likely to start and explode in GW1 without being long-term nailed... Fits so well into that FH kind of punt, imo

Watkins can just slip into the watchlist for now. I know his fixtures and score from last season are appealing, but I wouldn't bother planning who to sell for him yet. Isak (attacking team + fixtures), Solanke (gung-ho attacking team) and Wood (clinical + fixtures) are easy medium-term holds

My gut tells me solanke is a better option, I just think Arsenal will hit the ground running and want the attacking cover. Look at his stats from the end of last season. Jesus is knocking on the door now though.

Also not convinced solanke will hit form straight away since you often see that with players moving clubs. But spurs are such a great attacking unit I struggle to look past him.

60m for a player with 1 year left on his contract is crazy.

Brentford still insisting on at least £60m for Toney although that may be tested for loan-with-obligation offers in last few days of window - especially if Chelsea don't secure Osimhen.

I really like Solanke - I think considering the market 65m for a 19 goal scorer is value. I mean Villa paid 50 for Diaby who couldn't sniff the boots of Solanke.

I like him too, but his league goal record before last season was SIX - he's not like Watkins, who's been ticking over well for years before exploding. This is like calling Martinelli 'a 15 goals a season winger' because he did it once.

          1. Pumpkinhead
            • 11 Years

Outside of injuries Solanke has been good, even the year before though his goal output wasn't great he played well overall. He's doing it on Bournmouth not Arsenal. With Son, Johnson, Mads, etc... feeding him as opposed to Adam Smith I think there is more reason to be optimistic than not. But you do you.

He had 10 league goals in 60 90s (56 starts) before last season, including his time at Liverpool. I already said I like him, and I expect him to do well at Spurs based on how many chances they create, but £65m for a striker who's well into his prime with one good season under his belt is mad money.

This might be blind optimism but I am hoping we won't do that this time. However, still not writing off us making some cheap comparatively crap option (Berge or Amrabat) instead

The fact that the talks are back on after we seemingly walked away gives me a bit more confidence. I don't mind Berge and wouldn't mind having him to replace Amrabat's spot, but we need a proper DM to replace Casemiro. Whether Ugarte is good enough to do that, I have no idea, but it's always worrying when a top team are happy to let players go (look how many times Madrid and Bayern have burnt clubs)

Yes, I'd feel a bit underwhelmed with Berge I'd probably prefer Amrabat - fingers crossed on Ugarte. I quite like the signings so far tbh - I'm not sure I understand the negativity around De Ligt from some of the x-players I would have thought he is a good fit if we want o play high line and move away from being a counter attacking team who play on the edge of our own box

Oh really, I'd much rather have Berge than Amrabat, who I think bar 2 or 3 games was atrocious. I've seen a lot of concerns about De Ligt being quite slow and unable to play out from the back, so I'm not sure our problems are solved just yet! Not sure we would have actually got him without Yoro's injury tbh

I’m going to start with Bruno then switch to him in game week 3, hopefully he doesn’t explode to early!

I guess I’m thinking it’s only GW1 and lots of time to recover from a bad start, and also easier to move away from Haaland and Salah than squeeze them in later (if needed) once various players gain .1’s etc. any super obvious problems here like non-starters (other than Fab)?

    Pickford (Fab)
Andersen - Myko - Quansah (Konsa -Barco)
    Saka - Salah - Palmer - Bobb - Winks
    Muniz - Haaland (Pedro)

    Thanks!

Bobb Winks and Pedro is a bit weak for me. You need to play two of them every week.

I would downgrade one of Palmer or Salah to improve some of the weaker players. Salah to Jota is a popular one.

anyone considering Jacob Murphy? is he too risky?

not expect 90 mins every gw, but at least 200/270 mins for the 1st 3?
