Fantasy EFL’s Double Gameweek 27 has seen 66 goals scored across all three divisions and we’ve still got 25 matches to go.

Here are the top lessons we’ve learned from Double Gameweek 27’s action around the country. It’s worth considering that 32 sides are doubling across Tuesday and Wednesday – expect more thrills and spills as the midweek action keeps on rolling until Gameweek 32.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 27: CHAMPIONSHIP

Watford earn valuable point

Although many managers expected a comfortable Sunderland victory at the Stadium of Light against Watford – seeing them bank nine points – something unexpected unravelled. In the end, the Black Cats, selected by 6.5%, only scored five points in their 2-2 draw.

The Hornets secured their fourth draw in 16 away games, with only 13 of their 42 points coming on the road. Sensational Imran Louza (M) scored a wonder goal (+6) alongside three interceptions (+6), securing 15 points for his efforts. Tom Dele-Bashiru (M) made it 1-1 from the penalty spot and returned 10 points for 0.1% of managers.

For the hosts, Luke O’Nien (M) opened the scoring and brought 10 points for the first time since Gameweek 2, also making one interception. Selected by 7.8%, Dennis Cirkin (D) ensured Sunderland avoided defeat and banked seven points, despite getting booked and conceding twice (-2). Team-mate Trai Hume (D) also maintained his steady form, assisting O’Nien (+3) and making defensive contributions to score seven for 1.5%.

Up next, Regis Le Bris’ side host Luton Town, aiming to make it 14 points from their Double Gameweek. As for Watford, they’ll be welcoming Leeds United to Vicarage Road.

Blades defeat Pompey

Sheffield United made it four wins from five with a 2-1 home victory against Portsmouth. Gustavo Hamer (M) returned to action in style, scoring the opener and making four key passes to secure 10 points for 12.7%. He’s now got seven goals and six assists in 28 outings, proving his worth in the Championship.

Yet Pompey did have some opportunities and will feel unlucky. Connor Ogilvie (D) equalised for 10 points despite having 0% ownership. Josh Murphy (M) assisted the goal and had a strong performance with 10 points, averaging 5.4. Ultimately, Blades’ substitute Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (M) scored the winner, rewarding seven points to the 6.1% of users who picked the team.

Chris Wilders’ side meet seventh-placed Middlesbrough on Wednesday, while Portsmouth take on Cardiff City on Tuesday.

Adam Armstrong scores on debut

As explained in our differentials seven, this 28-year-old scores goals! The Southampton loanee extended his impressive record under Tony Mowbray, taking six shots for the Baggies. One hit the woodwork, then he scored a clever volley (+5). Notably, this stat caught our eye:

In total, Armstrong returned eight points for 0.5% and faces former side Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday. If there’s one thing now feeling inevitable, it’s the forward continuing his impressive form for Mowbray.

Derby fight back to draw at Carrow Road

In a similar vein to Sunderland, Norwich City’s impressive home form tempted 4.4% of managers to select them. However, things didn’t develop as hoped.

Josh Sargent (F) bagged an impressive goal for 6%, totalling eight points, assisted by Emiliano Marcondes (M). The duo are forming a formidable partnership, so expect more goals to be shared between the pair.

However, the managerless Rams spoiled the show when Jerry Yates (F) scored a penalty in the 89th minute to take an important point back to Pride Park. They’re now on 28 points, just one off 21st-placed Hull City.

While Norwich will aim for an eighth home victory from 16 when they host Preston, Derby’s next part of Double Gameweek 27 will be against 17th-placed Oxford United.

Swansea win bragging rights in Severnside derby

Elsewhere, Luke Williams’ side put on a defensive masterclass to defeat rivals Bristol City 1-0 at Ashton Gate. Josh Tymon (D) scored the goal (+7) and a clean sheet took him to 15 points.

Their highest scorer was actually Ben Cabango (D), due to 13 clearances (+4). He delivered 14 points for 0.9% of managers, helping the Swans achieve their seventh clean sheet in 31. Hannes Delcroix (D) made 17 clearances (+5), providing his first double-digit haul since joining from Burnley on loan.

Not everything was disappointing for the Robins, though. Captain Jason Knight (M) earned a respectable eight points for his 3.3% ownership, thanks to two interceptions and four key passes. But team-mate Luke McNally (D) only managed a tally of three.

They’ll hope to make amends by collecting an eighth home win of this season when welcoming Stoke City, while the Swans host Sheffield Wednesday.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 27: LEAGUE ONE

Thriller at Toughsheet Community Stadium

The game of the weekend took place in Bolton, where the Trotters defeated Crawley Town 4-3 in added time. Incredibly, all seven goals came after the break.

Midfielder Josh Sheehan (M) was their standout performer with 14 points. He contributed a goal and an assist, reaching double-digits for the first time since Gameweek 8.

For the Red Devils, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (M) scored two quick goals to earn 13 points. But the game took a late turn when Rory Feely (D) was sent off, resulting in -3 points. In the final moments, a Charlie Barker (D) own goal gave Bolton a seven-point boost for 2.5%.

Up next, Crawley will be looking for revenge when against Stevenage on Tuesday.

Burton and Blackpool continue unbeaten streak

League One’s Player of the Month Rumarn Burrell (F) continued his remarkable form for Burton Albion, grabbing a fourth goal (+5) in five games for 0%. It’s similar for Jón Bödvarsson (F), who provided the assist (+3) and nabbed seven points, taking his record to four goals and one assist in 10.

However, for the visitors, Albie Morgan (M) maintained the Seasiders’ unbeaten 2025 run, scoring in the 93rd minute to return 13 points. In fact, 46 of his overall 127 have come in these latest five matches. Although they conceded, Elkan Baggott (D) and Oliver Casey (D) both bagged seven points for their owners due to defensive actions.

The Brewers visit Bristol Rovers in Gameweek 28, while Steve Bruce’s side host Rotherham United on Tuesday.

Addicks defeat Boro

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic won their eighth home game in 15 with an impressive 2-0 victory over Stevenage, putting them sixth in the table.

Macaulay Gillesphey (D) is now the highest League One scorer and has 63 points from his last seven. The centre-back helped 6.6% towards 10 points, taking his total to 197. Equally, Lloyd Jones (D) banked nine of them for 5.2%. Matt Godden (F) maintained his great form and now has three goals in three for the Addicks.

Tuesday night will see Charlton trying to reach six unbeaten when at home to Peterborough United (H). For Stevenage, they wrap up their double with a trip to Crawley.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 27: LEAGUE TWO

Barrow beat Gills

The Bluebirds impressed with a 3-0 home victory over Gillingham, currently 19th in the league. Midfielder Kian Spence (M) was their star performer, scoring twice and making an interception for a total of 17 points. This impressive haul will be a welcome reward for the small number of managers (0.1%) who selected him, having seen him deliver returns in every match since Gameweek 21.

Their defensive solidity was also on display, with Niall Canavan (D) and Ben Jackson (D) contributing to their seventh clean sheet. Andrew Whing’s lot are at home to MK Dons on Tuesday, while Gillingham have a tough away game at league leaders Walsall.

Newport smash Crewe

The Exiles continued their strong run with a dominant 3-0 away victory over Crewe Alexandra, marking their third consecutive win. Although it should be noted that Crewe faced a significant setback with the loss of key defender Mickey Demetriou (D), sidelined due to injury. This was his first absence since Gameweek 11, highlighting his importance to the team.

Fantasy EFL: top-scorers halfway through the season

Cameron Evans (D) scored 15 points for the visitors, providing one assist (+3) and impacting throughout defensively to maintain his top form. 12-point Matthew Baker (D) was also great, while James Clarke (D) and Joe Thomas (D) received 11 for their efforts. Courtney Baker-Richardson (F) scored his first goal since Gameweek 3 to reach seven points.

Crewe are at AFC Wimbledon next, as Newport take on 24th-placed Carlisle United.

Salford continue to impress

Hakeeb Adelakun (F) was the star of the show for the Ammies, scoring a brace in their 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers. Their first win in seven games, it extends their unbeaten run to four matches. Adelakun’s now has a total of 68 points and his ownership is likely to rise after such a performance.

Elsewhere, defenders Haji Mnoga (D) and Stephan Negru (D) both brought 12 points. The former provided an assist, while Luke Garbutt (D) returned to the side and scored double-digits for the first time since Gameweek 21.

The Ammies will next feature in Gameweek 28 against AFC Wimbledon, while Rovers host Fleetwood on Tuesday in an attempt to turn around their dismal form.

Bradford defeat rivals

The Bantams secured local bragging rights with a 1-0 victory over Harrogate Town at Valley Parade. It was a strong display from Antoni Sarcevic (M) and he fittingly scored the decisive goal within two minutes. His efforts brought 11 points to 0.6%.

Jack Shepherd (D) also impressed with a defensive masterclass, earning 12 points to maintain his top form. Despite the loss, Anthony O’Connor (D) made 10 clearances (+3) and reached five points (1.6%), extending his streak without a blank since Gameweek 18.

Graham Alexander’s side host Accrington Stanley to wrap up their double, while Harrogate face Swindon Town in Gameweek 28.

The Nigel Eady County Ground classic

Finally, Swindon Town extended their unbeaten run to six games under manager Ian Holloway with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Port Vale. Lorent Tolaj (F) was their opponents’ standout performer, with his brace making it 12 goals and assists in 21 appearances. An impressive 13 points on this occasion.

Daniel Butterworth (F) also had a significant impact on the game, scoring and providing an assist to secure 11 points for the hosts.

Vale defender Jaheim Headley (D) contributed at both ends, netting to reach 11 points. And Joel Cotterill (M) also proved to be valuable for Swindon, briefly putting them 3-2 ahead. His efforts ended with 10 points.

The Robins are about to visit 21st-placed Harrogate Town, while Port Vale host Notts County.
