A key feature of Fantasy EFL is the ‘Club Picks’ ability, where each Gameweek you select two clubs, in addition to choosing a seven-man squad, to score you points.
With Gameweek 2 already underway, all managers should start strategising for these hugely important club picks. Of all 72 clubs to choose from, you must lock in just two per week, meaning you must make every decision count!
I’ve explored the perennial question for managers: When is the best week to utilise your ‘top’ club picks? Is it Double Gameweeks or bust?

RULES
Here’s a recap of the scoring breakdown for clubs:

These club picks can now earn you a maximum of 13 points each per game. You receive +5 points for a victory, +2 additional points if it is an away victory, +2 for a clean sheet, +2 if the club scores 2+ goals and a further +2 if they score 4+ goals.
With huge chances of double-digit hauls on a weekly basis, these club picks are integral to having a successful Fantasy EFL season.
This season sees the addition of the two extra points for the team scoring 4+ goals, meaning that focusing on high-octane attacking sides could prove a particularly rewarding strategy.
However, there is one major limitation: you can only select each club five times throughout the season. After you have selected a club in five different Gameweeks, they will be locked and you will be unable to choose them again.
With 12 Double Gameweeks scheduled in the Championship and seven in League One and League Two, we must be very careful in deciding when to play each club.
Fantasy EFL is a game of strategy, and in this article, we will take you through our top strategies for using some of the most highly desired clubs.
DOUBLE, *TRIPLE* AND BLANK GAMEWEEKS
You don’t want to be in a position at the end of the season where you fall behind because you cannot select your top club in a Double or even Triple Gameweek.
Last season’s Salford City side are a great example. They had some excellent fixtures at the start of last season, facing Grimsby Town, Colchester, Chesterfield and Swindon in the first few months.

However, managers who still had them available and selected them in Triple Gameweek 21 were met with a massive 27 points. The Ammies won all three of their fixtures and kept three clean sheets, creating a dream Gameweek for those patient managers.
At this point last season, we projected to see 10 Double and one Triple Gameweek. There turned out to be a huge 19 Doubles and two Triples, hugely benefiting savvy managers who played their clubs at the right time.
Make sure you keep this in mind, as Fantasy EFL is nothing but unpredictable.
Moreover, the importance of Blank Gameweeks also cannot be overstated.
Because the Championship have five more ‘blanks’ scheduled, it’s crucial to have strong picks from League One and League Two during those times.

POPULAR CLUB PICKS
Here’s an example of three Fantasy EFL club picks that are worth holding onto and not using all of your picks on them too early.
Leicester City

With Marti Cifuentes taking over, Leicester City are set to be a highly attractive club pick throughout the season.
Key players, including Ricardo Pereira (D) and Abdul Fatawu (F), are returning following an injury-ridden season, meaning promotion is expected for the Foxes.
They dominated the Championship in their 23/24 campaign, winning 31 of their 46 games on their way to the title.
They have been selected by 28% of Fantasy EFL managers ahead of their Gameweek 2 fixture against Sheffield Wednesday (H).
This is a strong selection, with the Owls in disarray. However, choosing Leicester this week means that you can only choose them in a maximum of four of their 12 scheduled Double Gameweeks.
I believe that each of the following Double Gameweeks would be wiser selections, with 20+ points potentially achievable in each of them:
- Gameweek 9: West Bromwich Albion (A), Wrexham (H)
- Gameweek 12: Hull City (A), Portsmouth (H)
- Gameweek 19: Bristol City (A), Derby County (A)
- Gameweek 36: Preston North End (H), Sheffield Wednesday (A)
- Gameweek 38: Hull City (H), Portsmouth (A)
Although all other Championship sides will also have Doubles at the same time, keeping some Leicester selections in the bank will put you in a strong position later down the line.
Sheffield United

The Blades are in a similar position as they should continue to be one of the Championship’s top sides in the 25/26 campaign. Their 28 wins and 22 clean sheets made them one of the hottest club commodities in Fantasy EFL last season.
They have a favourable fixture against Bristol City (H) in their season opener, but the Championship’s 12 Doubles continue to be the elephant in the room.
- Gameweek 14: Derby (H), Coventry (A)
- Gameweek 17: Portsmouth (H), Sheffield Wednesday (A)
- Gameweek 22: Stoke City (A), Wrexham (A)
- Gameweek 25: Charlton (A), Southampton (A)
- Gameweek 30: Sheffield Wednesday (H), Coventry (H)
They have strong fixtures in each of these Gameweeks, with a huge 26 points on offer in 22 and 25.
Luton Town

The Hatters have the backing of a division-high 21.6% of Fantasy EFL managers ahead of Gameweek 2, demonstrating their popularity this season.
Following relegation in two consecutive seasons, Matt Bloomfield’s side will be a consistently strong selection as they aim to dominate League One.
They won their season opener against Wimbledon, and now face a Peterborough United side (A) who conceded 81 goals last season. Managers are clearly hoping for all four bonus points from goals in this favourable matchup.
With only seven ‘doubles’ scheduled for League One and League Two clubs, there’s less pressure to avoid using these lower-division teams.
However, keeping some Luton selections in the bank could be a smart move.
We believe there is a strong chance of a 20-point haul when they play Doncaster (A) and Exeter (A) in Double Gameweek 23.
Double Gameweek 36 is also a great one for the Hatters when they face Wimbledon (A) and Peterborough (H) – two sides expected to be mid-table.
