It’s time for another Gameweek 3 team reveal as the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline approaches.

Here, FPL Milanista – who has three top 5k finishes in the last five seasons – explains why he’s going with Arsenal’s premium midfielder.

GAMEWEEK 2 REVIEW

The first couple of weekends haven’t exactly gone to plan. Despite a summer of planning that pieced together a seemingly strong squad, the points aren’t flowing, and now there’s injury and uncertainty surrounding key players.

Many of the supposedly obvious picks are underperforming. Highly owned assets keep blanking, while differential punts are yet to pay off. Even the safer routes have turned turbulent. It’s been an extremely frustrating start for me and many managers.

One of the more disappointing moments came in Gameweek 2, where my strategy hinged on a maverick Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) captaincy against Leeds United. On paper, it looked quite clever – a high-ceiling player against a leaky side.

But football has a way of humbling us quickly. Saka was forced off with an injury before the 60-minute mark, meaning no clean sheet point or captaincy bonus. Instead of a smart gamble, it’s turned into a costly setback.

Cole Palmer’s (£10.5m) injury flag only adds to the growing list of concerns. He’s an important part of my midfield setup and his availability could still prove crucial, depending on the latest update.

Then there’s Florian Wirtz (£8.4m). His inclusion was always going to be a calculated risk, as I knew he might take time to get going. While the returns haven’t yet arrived, I’m not in a hurry to sell. Facing Burnley and Everton in Gameweeks 4 and 5 provide great opportunities, and I have more pressing issues to address.

Perhaps a Wildcard? I completely understand why some are hitting that button. If your team is structurally flawed or riddled with injuries, it’s a valid option.

But for me, it feels premature. The teams I’m backing are still top of the Fixture Ticker, and I don’t see a Wildcard squad that significantly improves my current lot. Furthermore, I see the dramatic fixture swings around Gameweeks 7 and 8 as a more optimal time to reset.

I love how the announcer is saying with such certainty that if there was VAR Grimsby's second goal would have been ruled out for a handball. Like anyone can predict what VAR is going to rule. They're wrong so often even when having a chance to see a replay. You may as well flip a coin.

They haven’t won a game this season yet.
They should be making sure they win this one. It’s Grimsby FFS.

If for no other reason than to avoid the sheer embarrassment.

Man United's second team should be leaps and bounds above Grimsby's first, Man United literally have a £75m striker playing, probably close to the value of the entirety of Grimsby FC.

Amorim clueless system manager. Why does he persist with such an attacking line up? Drop one of Cunha, Sesko/Mount, Diallo/Mbeumo and play 3-5-2. Make the midfield more solid.

      • 13 Years

He's kinda stuck now, cause he's insisted that he will not change and noe in his mind a change will mean he's weak....downward spiral

    2. Fiasco da Gama
        3 months, 17 days ago

United have 0 combinations that would give a solid midfield. Its a mess in there.

We already have 5 defenders on the pitch and cant score a goal to save our lives. Not sure losing an attacker for a midfielder is going to be the answer.
But I do agree that Amorims system ain’t working

Anyone remember David De Gea? 🙁
The guy who you often needed to have six or seven excellent shots at to score one goal.
Now we have absolute joke who you just need to get a shot on target and it’s a goal. Not even a particularly good shot either!
May as well stick a mannequin there and hope for the best…

My plan was always to FH in 6 and WC in 13 but can see a lot of people now opting to FH in 4 instead?

Anyone able to shed any light on why and on what I should do with this squad? 2 FT

Currently thinking Palmer/Guiu > Semenyo/Wood and stick to my original chip strategy as fixtures generally look good in 5 for this team

        Sanchez
        Porro Munoz Neco
        Salah Palmer* Bruno Rutter* Reijnders
        Watkins Mateta

        Dubravka Andersen Esteve Guiu

        1. Captain Mal
          • 1 Year

          Chip strategy is team dependent.
FH4 makes sense for those who started without Salah, you have no reason to follow this path.
If FH6, Sarr could be a decent alternative to Semenyo, as you lose one of Semenyo's best fixtures and sidestep Sarr's toughest fixture.
