It’s time for another Gameweek 3 team reveal as the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline approaches.

Here, FPL Milanista – who has three top 5k finishes in the last five seasons – explains why he’s going with Arsenal’s premium midfielder.

GAMEWEEK 2 REVIEW

The first couple of weekends haven’t exactly gone to plan. Despite a summer of planning that pieced together a seemingly strong squad, the points aren’t flowing, and now there’s injury and uncertainty surrounding key players.

Many of the supposedly obvious picks are underperforming. Highly owned assets keep blanking, while differential punts are yet to pay off. Even the safer routes have turned turbulent. It’s been an extremely frustrating start for me and many managers.

One of the more disappointing moments came in Gameweek 2, where my strategy hinged on a maverick Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) captaincy against Leeds United. On paper, it looked quite clever – a high-ceiling player against a leaky side.

But football has a way of humbling us quickly. Saka was forced off with an injury before the 60-minute mark, meaning no clean sheet point or captaincy bonus. Instead of a smart gamble, it’s turned into a costly setback.

Cole Palmer’s (£10.5m) injury flag only adds to the growing list of concerns. He’s an important part of my midfield setup and his availability could still prove crucial, depending on the latest update.

Then there’s Florian Wirtz (£8.4m). His inclusion was always going to be a calculated risk, as I knew he might take time to get going. While the returns haven’t yet arrived, I’m not in a hurry to sell. Facing Burnley and Everton in Gameweeks 4 and 5 provide great opportunities, and I have more pressing issues to address.

Perhaps a Wildcard? I completely understand why some are hitting that button. If your team is structurally flawed or riddled with injuries, it’s a valid option.

But for me, it feels premature. The teams I’m backing are still top of the Fixture Ticker, and I don’t see a Wildcard squad that significantly improves my current lot. Furthermore, I see the dramatic fixture swings around Gameweeks 7 and 8 as a more optimal time to reset.

Sesko was the 10th penalty taker - a 70m striker vs fourth tier team. Hiding?

If Amorim communicates tactics, intensity levels and shape to the players in the same way he answers post-match interviews - is there any wonder United are the shambles on the field we are. I can’t understand a damn thing he says.

I think I may sell Saka and Wirtz.
Been looking at replacements and so far I think Kudus will be my first one, but im struggling for the second.
Given the next 3 fixtures I think a Newcastle midfielder could be a decent shout. Could give the narrative of wanting to bounce back after Lpool loss. Problem is which one? Elanga? Bruno G?

The Other alternative is to go sideways and go for Gakpo. I really want Ekitike but my 3 forwards are currently Haaland, Watkins and J Pedro. Cant quite justify making the swap.

    Do I get
    A) Elanga
    B) Bruno G
    C) Barnes
    D) Gakpo
    E) someone else?

I know people will suggest Semenyo but I personally think that the next 3 fixtures for Bournemouth arent the best. After a decent start I predict he won't do so well and will back against him... (at my own peril)

I’m toying with Neto and possibly Bruno as replacements for Saka and Palmer but I may take a hit and bring the reassuring presence of Haaland.

        Bruno G or Bruno F?
Yeh Haalands not a bad pick if you can get to him.

I could take a hit myself and do Saka, Wirtz, Watkins to Kudus, Salah, Thiago

    2. tutankamun
      • 16 Years
      9 months, 21 days ago

Gakpo is definitely the best option of those.

Why can’t you justify getting rid of Watkins?
Absolutely hopeless if you ask me. Get Ekitikie, Richarlson or Gyokeres.

I have reinders. I think he will have a more advanced role compared to the depper role against Spurs. So I think he will have the opportunity to arrive in the box more. That said I thought playing as an 8 like Bruno that he may pick up DC points but he has got nowhere near the DC 12 mark so far.

Also have Malen and funnily looking at Minteh as replacement. Minteh gets in the box a lot for a winger. On Minteh Brighton wont have as much possession to attack as much against citeh as they do other teams

        So tough choice. Good luck

Swing around GW7 and 8. Read it in one of articles here.
        First year playing
Anyone know what that person might be referring too.
        Big price swings?
Cant be fixture swings cos they happen GW13. Arsenal/NC have fixture swings but I dont think he was referring to that

        1. Ausman
          • 2 Years
          9 months, 20 days ago

When a writer mentions swings, it is a reference to fixture swings. Nobody can predict price swings as they happen because of a players form and how many FPL participants buy or sell that individual player.
Arsenal fixtures actually swing in GW7 when they play West Ham and have a run of 6 good games where their players will be targeted by FPL managers.
When analysing fixture difficulty, use the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR) chart and look for green coloured fixtures (easy) and try to avoid red fixtures (difficult)

Bit of a crazy one but... would you take a -8 to do: Saka, Watkins, KDH, H Wilson to Kudus, Ekitike, Elanga, Semenyo?
Elanga could be Barnes or Bruno G, can't decide who is the better option

Reading that would take me an hour to digest it and I ain't got that.
I will give you one thought though on Semenyo.
If you made .1 on him take it and run.
The blob of the blobbiness have ground it in on mass.
                He's a wrongin.

I see absolutely no reason to take a hit to get rid of KDH personally.

Aye, Its the result of sitting here for hours trying to make me feel better about my midfield.

If you could pick one Newcastle midfielder, who would you go with?

I like the question, just because you are entertaining a New. m/f.
I am all over their defence but I'm thinking on that too but have not seen enough yet.

Well I like their next 3 fixtures for attack. Just a case of nailing the right one. The models think Barnes is, but Elanga looks better on the eye

I am totally an eye guy.
If Elanga is your eye guy, there is no competition.
