Argentina v Egypt team news: Medina + Marmoush benched

Argentina and Egypt meet in the World Cup Round of 16, with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.

Lionel Scaloni’s men topped Group J but were given an almighty scare by Cape Verde last time out, ultimately winning 3-2 after extra time.

Egypt beat Australia on penalties to reach the Round of 16.

The winners of this clash will face Switzerland or Colombia in the quarter-finals.

Kick-off at the Atlanta Stadium is at 17:00 BST.

TEAM NEWS

Argentina boss Scaloni has made three changes to his starting XI.

Nicolas Tagliafico, Leandro Paredes and Julian Alvarez come in for Facundo Medina, Thiago Almada and Lautaro Martinez.

As for Egypt, they make two alterations from the Round of 32.

Mohanad Lasheen and Haissem Hassan replace Hamdi Fathy and Omar Marmoush.

Seven Argentina players won’t qualify for the Scouting Bonus, including the benched Medina.

Salah sits just under the 5% threshold, however:

    Would take Messi to score 5 to give me an average game week. Worst week ever. 25 points with Messi, I Fernandez a nd Medina left to play. While midfield blanked, Oyrazabal blanked and 3 bloody yanks. Some days you can't poss a drop. Don't be surprised if Messi doesn't turn up. All this after 141 points in last round

    Sheesh, another absurdly terrible penalty. Then, with 20:20 on the clock Christian Romero went headhunting right in front of the Egypt bench and laid out a dude. Looks like he got away with it. They were to busy showing replays of the penalty. What a dirty, dirty player Romero is.

        Lisandro and Emiliano Martinez are also in the "bad guy" category. That's what made the Egypt goal extra satisfying. Ibrahim was right in front of Lisandro and right behind Romero and headed the ball right past Emi. So sweet.

    Due to financial constraints and my previous 3.5m keeper going out in the last round (Beach) at the hands of Egypt I have Shobeir in goal and although I am not expecting delusions of grandeur with a clean sheet if he manages to save a fair few shots and not ship too many goals I might end up with a scouting bonus which would be sweet. (Pickford was my other keeper)
