Ibrahimovic Suffers Knee Injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tonight suffered a knee injury which saw him hobble from the field in Manchester United’s Europa League victory over Anderlecht.

The striker fell awkwardly when leaping for a cross, appearing to hyperextend his knee joint. A stretcher was called, although the striker chose instead to make his own way from the field with the help of medical staff.

United also lost defender Marcos Rojo to injury in the same match on 23 minutes – also to a knee injury – with the Argentine now another major concern for Gameweek 34.

Post-match, Jose Mourinho was not keen to commit his views on both setbacks…

“I don’t think they’re easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done”

However, when asked if he hoped the initial prognosis was “fairly positive” he replied “fairly negative” and confirmed them as likely bad injuries.

Further quotes then surfaced from Mourinho’s post-match press conference…

“My feeling is not good for both. I want to be optimistic but I’m not.”

Ibrahimovic has been the top attraction in the Fantasy Premier League transfer market ahead of United’s double Gameweek fixtures at Burnley and Manchester City – more than 89,000 had swooped early ahead of Saturday’s deadline to secure his services. His participation in those fixtures, and perhaps the season run-in, must now be in doubt.

The Swede’s absence paves the way for Marcus Rashford to maintain his recent run of form and step up. The 6.5 FPL option again put in a sparkling display and has now scored three goals in his last three outings in all competitions having struck United’s extra-time winner against the Belgians.

Rashford had already been brought in by 58,000+ ahead of United’s two fixtures, although there will be some concerns that he may be subject to a rest in the first fixture at Burnley on Sunday; the 19-year-old played 120 minutes and would perhaps need to be preserved for the City clash. Wayne Rooney, who returned to the bench for Thursday’s tie, could now be a factor at Turf Moor at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Benteke v Negredo v Rashford

Do any of this trio appeal for DGWK 34? Would you captain any and why?

Also - New Captain Poll is now live - with the Boro man taking a very early lead in the first few minutes.

Repost as bottomed at the end of last page.

Have deleted previous one at the bottom of the last page - here's the comments from that before I did that.

Oddjobleff - In a word, no. Can't face shifting Aguero/Kane/Lukaku

AJ24 - I still have all my chips left and now tempted to have a punt on Negredo Triple Captain, rather than the GW36 Hot and Cold Sanchez. Would also mean that I could have my WC the week before the DGW.

rocco10 - Looking at Ibra to Negredo atm Have WC

This week alone Negredo (also on pens), unlike the other two.

Most will be holding another week though and boro do have MCI whilst like of benteke has BUR.

Benteke plays vs Spurs and Liverpool so don't think he will score much, maybe none.
Rashfrod will be surley rested vs Burnley ant than he has City.
Negredo - nice fixtures, on pens. Easy!

THEN Jose will be Benching EVERYONE else that played 90mins+ on Thursday??? (at least the Attacking Players & Wing-Backs like Valencia)...
PLUS, "a lack of rest" is Exactly how I would describe ManU's Schedule for the rest of the season! (cause 3-4 days between matches is par for the course--not to mention a great excuse for Mourinho to complain about pre-match & and blame post-loss...lol!)

Negredo looks good just for this GW.
Rashford's game time is under suspicion now. Although, I do have a feeling he'll play both the matches.
Benteke in good form but the remaining fixtures are far from convincing.
The only thing concerning is apart from Kane, Kun and Lukaku, not many players look convincing for this position from now on.
Maybe Gabby for the double double but can't think of anyone else.

Benteke's fixtures are terrible for the DGW and I already have Zaha, Henn & PVA
Negredo, great fixtures and highly ranked in the YMA article and can transfer him out again the following week for a different DGW striker depending on injuries and form.
Rashford - he's just played 120mins would expect him to be rested a little so too big a risk.

      have to shift Ibra.
Probably any striker coming in is for just 2 GWs then WC.
Negredo does have some form against the 2 sides he is playing - 3 assists in the reverse fixtures.
Benteke's stats are decent and he is a more likely goalscorer even with the opposition. Quite fancy Zaha creating a few chances up against Ben Davies.
Overall still see Palace scoring more goals than Boro over next 2 weeks even if not winning the games.
      So I think Benteke.

Funny how we change our minds when events take a turn. I was going to cap Kane 100% over Ibra. Now I've taken a hit to Ibra>Negredo and will cap him instead of Harry. I don't even think Boro will survive but these fixtures aren't bad and if Boro can score a few, he'll be involved. Big 'if', yeah, but worth a shot.

I have a front three of Negredo Lukaku Benteke.

Admittedly the Ibra injury makes life easier but with Man Utd playing 120 minutes and Palace playing well in defence at home, I'm actually quietly confident that going without Rashford and Kane is an effective strategy this week.

Looking at both games together, Negredo is shorter anytime scorer odds than Rashford, and he has far less rotation risk. Benteke is longer odds, but again has the nailedness, plus the favourable GW35 fixture over Negredo.

I've got in Negredo (c) and Benteke with my 2 x FTs - now debating whether to take a hit for DDG, Bailly, or (whispering it quietly) Pogba, as Valencia is my only Man U now.

Of course! However, we're looking for a captain here for the week, a DGWk, therefore getting the right player who'll deliver a huge haul x 2 is the critical decision. I guess as I still have a WC I can think short-term, get Negredo out in Gwk35 and then WC in 36.

Original plan was TC Ibra this week-WC 36-BB 37 but IbraKnee-gate has me considering bringing my WC forward to gw35, so this weekend will either bench Ibra, and cap Negredo (also have Luka) or do Ibra>Kane and cap him. Then TC a dgw36 player.
Anything else is unlikely to make back the 8pt hits I've taken preparing for this gw.

Why not get them all. I have my WC. Was planning for 35, but WC36 also appeals.
Had ibra, but that plan is gone.Rashford could play both games. He is fit and young.
My choice will be between de gea and rashford. Benteke and Negredo will definitely be in. I will have 7 to 8 DGW34 players. It is worth the gamble having saved the WC

I think Rash will play both because Mourinho demands his players run themselves into the ground.

      The Problem With Rashford:

Will he play enough minutes across both matches to justify:
      1) a transfer in for a poor SGWer (e.g. Carroll)
      2) a transfer in for a good SGWer (e.g. Lukaku)
      3) a hit
      4) a captaincy

I think the answers are: Yes, No, Yes, No.

      Cons of Rashford:
      - played 120 mins v Anderlecht
      - Jose quoted as "he can't play all the games"
      - On a streak now but erratic scoring record, especially when central up front

      Pros:
      - Zlatan out, Rooney on the way back but not there yet, Martial not pleasing Jose, so who else will be up top?
      - On a streak just now! In form for goals and assists
      - Pace v a slow and stodgy Burnley backline, and an ageing Man City defence
      - Jose loves him, quoted as really valuing what he brings to the team with attitude and workrate.

If Ibra is out for multiple matches, which looks likely, then I am a strong supporter of Rashford (if not then I don't want any of the three)

I plan on doing Ibra to Rashford and NOT captaining. I see the risk of him only playing one match this week, but as a forward (not a winger) he is on fire with 3 goals in his last 3 and looks good as a long term move, not just a one week punt, and I think he has just as much potential to score in 90-110 mins as Negredo and Benteke do in 180.

Benteke I feel is an ok choice - Crystal Palace are in great form, but two very tough fixtures make me much less worried about not owning him (especially since I already own Zaha)

Negredo is a bad move in my eyes. Middlesborough are renowned this season for NOT scoring goals and Negredo has 3 in his last 13 games - do one decent and one good fixture go ahead of form? Not for me

      Benteke for me.
Because I do not have a WC and would want Benteke for GW35, where's Negredo has City, and GW37 when Palace have Hull at home and I am BB.
Middlesborough don't score so I don't get getting Negredo in where's Benteke is nailed and can score against anyone when Palace and himself are up for it.
Rashford, no, too worried by rotation, and they have City and Burnley away!

      Rashford : AVOID
Might not get the easier game ie. Burnley. But, having said that Burnley aren't easy at their home ground. Even if a fatigued Rashford gets the game, its hard to break Burnely apart. And, Rashford will certainly get City game. But, its equivalent to 1 game and other players have easier SGW compared to Rashford vs Man City. So, 1 + 6 = 7. Not more than 7(or 8 adding a bonus too) I would say.

      Benteke : GOOD BUT CAUTION
Everyone is pointing that its Liverpool that they fancy Benteke for. If you analyse recent Liverpool games, they are trying to be solid. With Matip and Lovren at the Back, they look somewhat stable. They might possibly play 3 at the Back.
And, Spurs! for Spurs to concede it is a bit hard to think how that might be. I don't fancy them conceding with a side that are fit, solid, focused and determined.
So, not more than 1 goal for Benteke. And, Spurs/Liverpool to win the game so no Bonus too.
      6+2 = 8

Negredo : 2HR (High Risk High Reward)
Negredo has shown his glimpses. But, the service is what seems lacking in my opinion. Bournemouth game will be a tough one but, Boro will go all out attack against Sunderland, and so will Sunderland. He will definitely grab a goal to the least.
So, that makes it atleast 8. Maybe he will find an assist too if Boro goes AAA.
      6+2 = 8

All the forwards are in the same range. So, considering if you dont have WC, go for Rashford. If you are short on Budget go for Negredo. And, if you are fancing a striker for 34 and 35 and going for Gabbi on 36, the Big Belgian could be the way.

      oops a bit long.

Negredo for me, just because of the fixtures. He'll probably get the (C) nod over Lukaku.

I'm wary of Rashford's minutes against Burnley - especially with Rooney back - and having owned Tekkers earlier in the season, I just don't trust him!!

WHY the big sweep for Negredo - Bournemouth will win 2/3-0 minimum.

    My options are

    A) Kane (C) + King in midfield (Play 352)

    B) Kane + Negredo (C) -4 (Play 343)

I believe option A) will bring the bigger points as boro wont like the trip to bournemouth, Bournemouth have had some tough fixtures of late and will smash boro

Most seasons early transfers prove costly. think the first part of this season was an anomoly - back to the norm now and hopefully some sensible transfer moves in future.

A lot of talk about Gibson yes, but isn't his clean sheet potential diminished by Valdes' absence?

So glad I waited with my transfers. After extra time nightmare last night, I can't decide if it's worth it to take a hit for DDG or Gibson

It depends on if you have a WC or not. DDG is a season keeper if you bring him in (2x DGW). Gibson is more for this GW.

If you could guarantee him starting both games then Rashford.

Negredo should start both games but I'm beginning to think captaining Kane or Lukaku is a better option.

I have Carroll, though, so likely I will also have to pick between one of those two strikers tonight. Rashford has a good fixture in GW35 whereas you'll really want to get rid of Negredo next week, probably for Rasford ironically.

This is true but the uncertainty of Rashford has made me swing to Negredo to join Lukaku and Kane in my frontline. I think I will captain Negredo too. Also still have wild card so can sort out Negredo quite easily. Who do you reckon you will captain?
