After teasing us with a list of player prices and the revelation of a new Free Hit chip over the last few days, Fantasy Premier League has finally opened for registration ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Launched a week earlier than last year’s July 19 date, we now have 30 days to assemble our 15-man squads before Arsenal and Leicester City get Gameweek 1 underway on Friday August 11.
A quick look at the Player Price list shows that Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez are the priciest players on offer at £12.5m and £12.0m.
Kane’s average of 7.5 points per match (ppm) was more than any FPL regular last term, while Sanchez – who remains a midfielder – clocked up 6.9 ppm on his way to topping the charts with 264 points.
Last year’s most expensive player, Sergio Aguero drops from £13.0m to £11.5m – the same as Romelu Lukaku – with Manchester City team-mate Gabriel Jesus offering a cheaper alternative at £10.5m.
Meanwhile, City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is one of just three midfielders priced in double-figures. The Belgian comes in at £10.0m on the back of 21 assists in 2016/17, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard listed at £10.5m.
As we discovered yesterday, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is now re-classified as a forward – at £8.5m, he offers a cheaper route into the Reds’ attack than midfield trio Sadio Mane (£9.5m), Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah (both £9.0m).
At the back, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is the most expensive defender in the game – the wing-back comes in at £7.0m after averaging 5.7 ppm in his first season at the Bridge.
As always, we’ll roll out a series of Player Price List articles over the next few days, breaking them down by classification and cost.
In the meantime, enjoy delving in and getting those opening squads built.
