How the Top 10k are looking ahead of Blank Gameweek 27

The top 10,000 managers in Fantasy Premier League have joined the rest of us in moving en masse for Son Heung-min (£8.8m).

The Spurs midfielder was snapped up by just over 550,000 FPL managers in the run-up to Gameweek 26 – that’s almost twice as many transfers in as the next-most-bought player of this weekend.

A look at the most-owned players among the top 10k (see below) reveals that Son is the only change to the “template” squad from the previous Gameweek, with Leroy Sane (£9.6m) unsurprisingly making way.

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) remains the most-owned player in the top 10,000, followed by Marcus Rashford (£7.8m) – who was benched at Craven Cottage earlier today – and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.6m).

The above template squad features four players who blank in Gameweek 27 – namely Lucas Digne (£5.3m), Richarlison (£6.7m), Eden Hazard (£10.9m) and Sergio Aguero (£11.4m).

The front eight players in the above graphic match those in the overall most-owned squad, as pictured below:

Marcos Alonso (£6.5m), Ederson (£5.6m), Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) and Alisson (£6.0m) are the four names that differ; Alonso and Ederson being two more players without a fixture in Gameweek 27.

Son for Sane and Raul Jimenez (£6.7m) for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m) are the two changes from Gameweek 25.

There unsurprisingly hasn’t been a great deal of chip activity this weekend, though we may see a very minor spike in the usage of the free hit chip in Gameweek 27 among those Fantasy managers whose squads are overloaded with Manchester City, Everton and Chelsea assets.

Just over 17% of managers inside the top 10,000 have used their free hit chip already.

Over 75% of managers in the top 10k have their triple captain chip still to play, while a similar number also have their second wildcard still to burn.

Bench boost remains the least-used chip among these high-performing Fantasy managers.

The overall picture, meanwhile, looks as follows:

Almost exactly one in five managers inside the top 10k in FPL have used two or more of their chips already this season (see below).

Just over 50% of the top 10,000 Fantasy bosses are still yet to use a single chip, however.

The overall situation shows a similar spread, though an increased 27.4% have used two or more of their chips as of Gameweek 26:

Switching our attention back to Gameweek 26, the top 10k largely backed Salah for the armband ahead of his eight-point return against Bournemouth.

The 2.27% who captained Paul Pogba (£8.7m) will be sitting pretty on 32 points once bonus is added, while a similar number captained Aubameyang and will be relying on their vice-captain for points (Pogba being a popular choice) after the Gabonese forward’s no-show at Huddersfield.

The overall Gameweek 26 captaincy picture is not quite as straightforward, as one would perhaps expect given the varying degrees of involvement further down the rankings and with those managers perhaps having less to lose by backing a differential captain.

You can view more Gameweek 26 stats on Ragabolly’s site here.

Maybe I'm being salty as a Seagulls fan and not getting Aguero in last week, but....

Surely a vice captain doesn't get double points from next season? I made a better captain choice in Salah over Aubameyang but my league rivals trump me with Pogba VC. Maybe VC gets 50% extra instead of direct captain replacement?

    Rant over...

Same should go for autosubs from the bench IMO.

You should live and die on the 11 you put out...not be getting potfuls of jam each week

Makes sense (even if I've benefited through the years). if you don't think they're going to make returns, you should get a portion of their points, not all.

see what you mean, but Auba could have outscored both of them if he'd played

Whole reason i wouldn't have captained Auba this week was suspicion over game time, sure enough...

I was fairly convinced he wouldn't play today, but I'd have still captained him if I had him

They should remove captaincy altogether. Stupid system that just compounds the already high luck factor of the game. Also makes it extremely punishing to not own certain players, which strengthens template thinking which streamlines the game and makes it boring.

The bumper points boosts managers often get out of auto-subs, VC's and chips leans a little too far towards luck than skill in my opinion. I understand they're there to keep interest in the game, but I'd be curious to see the leaderboard differences without these.

Disagree with all of this. Never understand people complaining about autosubs. VC is a safety net for wild variables such as a player falling sick on the day. The rules of the game work pretty well in my book, I've never had issue with them.

Apparantly Wijnaldum was puking it out both ends night before the game and was still in the infectious period during the match according to the doctor. I think FPL should yellow flag the entire Liverpool team in lieu of these news.

GW27 deadline is 13 days away
FA cup still to come with huge implications for injuries and blanks
GW26 still running for two more days

Despite all this, people are making transfers
The funny thing is - this is driving price changes, which makes people make more transfers, etc etc

Good week to free hit? Reasons:

      - I have 4 players with no fixture
      - Gendouzi is a 5th I don't want to play
      - I have 5 players in the Liverpool / United game
      - no stand out fixtures so could be a good one to make ground on others

No complete waste. Everyone has 3-5 In man u pool. What if several of the players get returns.
So much better strategy to use in other weeks. I'd wager will be low scoring week and FH players will get not much better than people that don't

Guendouzi is alright, has a good fixture.

Most people will have 3/4/5 Liverpool and United in that fixture, so no need to worry. Both teams will likely go for it, so there could be goals galore.

Just use you FT to transfer out one of the 4 to a player with decent fixtures. Aguero to Auba and Digne to Perreira are popular moves this week.

Save the free hit for the blanks/doubles when it'll actually be useful

Bamba has been a solid bench player for me over the last little stretch, pity that's where he's been for most of his points. I have no problem playing him for the blank.

Very hard to overlook Leicester's fixtures, I'd probably steer clear of Newcastle.

Auba been trash away lately and behind Laca on goals/ several attacking stats last 5 so not sure would've made much difference

Yeah I hear ya. Laca could be a good shout at a lower price. Auba just tends to do really well vs the lower table sides. Tough choice.

Thinking about it, West Ham don't play anyone till GW 27, they have an easy fixture, and an illness seems unlikely. Won't have too much invested in him. Moreover, if he doesn't play one, I have a decent bench to cover. Plus, he has good fixtures going forward. Imminent price rise soon. Your reply made me analyse and pull the trigger, thanks!

early transfers are not only a risk for newly purchased players to get an injury.

its a -4 the moment your high value player gets injured for more than 1 GW. Say Auba.

      Digne | Doherty | Holebas | Wan-Bissaka | Robbo
      Salah | Fraser | Richarlison | Son | Pogba
      Ings | Jimenez | Aguero

      Want Richarlison out... do I:
      a) swap for similar priced mid eg Felipe Anderson

I'd be more tempted with b) if Liverpool weren't playing Utd next

Interesting, bit punty for me! Fanderson seems to be more central to the Hammers attacking play. Could just get him and hold for a few GW's - great fixtures.

Good luck with Snoddy though, he can do well in patches. You might get lucky and have him for one of those!

        Fabianski
        Robertson / TAA / Doherty / AWB
        Salah / Son / Pogba / Camarasa
        Rashford / Jimenez

        Ederson* // Sterling* / Digne* / Ings*

Which option looks best for next GW?

        A) Digne > Pereira
        B) Sterling > Jota
        C) Sterling/Ings > Jota/Aubameyang (-4)
        D) Ederson/Ings > Boruc/Lacazette (-4)
        E) Ederson > Boruc
        F) Save FT

I do not know what to do with the Ings spot. Feel like I want Aguero after GW27, but already have Sterling.
