Scoutcast Episode 299 – Magic Potion

Norwich’s striker Teemu Pukki has given the Scoutcast crew, of Joe, Holly, and Luke, a welcome lift as they consider the key issues facing Fantasy managers ahead of Gameweek 4.

Just like the magic potion of strength that Asterix the Gaul’s village used to defeat the Romans, the five-goal Finn has helped ease away some of the worries of the previous Gameweek and the trials and tribulations that lie ahead.

The Canaries’ goalscoring hero has also helped embolden Luke to already deploy his Wildcard, with Holly and Joe considering using this chip as soon as next month’s international break

Sergio Aguero’s re-emergence as a captaincy option this weekend, with his rival for a starting berth, Gabriel Jesus, out injured, is among the discussions.

Spurs’ problems this season, as the north Londoners struggle with managing out-of-favour players and taking on supposed minnows like Newcastle, is another topic covered.

The community questions section of this week’s episode also focuses on 2019/20’s lack of clean sheets so far. Is the influx of new striking options like Pukki to blame?

Elsewhere, the crew reveal their Gameweek 4 teams in detail, there’s a celebrity rough-with-the-smooth candidate and David delivers a statement to the crew regarding last week’s heated discussions.

Finally, Joe takes his turn to unveil a differential player for the next four Gameweeks. Considering Pukki was a previous choice this season, the pressure is well and truly on.

Is this worth -8 Greenwood and KWP out for Barnes and VVD ?

Or should i just do KWP out for VVD?

Just VvD. Barnes not worth -4 when he's playing Liverpool.

Yup. Do it. Norwich defenders took a further hit last night in League Cup action which further boosts Haller. Shaping up to be a high-scoring game on the weekend. And I hope Haller scores more goals than Pukki since I'm a West Ham fan.

    WC draft

    Pope

Not at all. Don't sell Robbo now imo, next 2 fixtures are plum for clean sheets, especially Newcastle. I am also ditching Jota this week though, I'm going for Haller in for the next 2 with a potential switch to Barnes for his good fixture run.

I've already made an early transfer this week, now I want to get rid of Perez to miss his price drop (and he is awful)

Any of these worth it for a -4?

    A/ Lanzini
    B/ Maddison

Please bear in mind that Perez is likely to go down tonight and Maddison will rise soon.

    Thanks

I want Lanzini for the fixtures but not sure if its worth a hit. Really don't want to have to take another price drop on him though. I guess -4 spread out over all of his upcoming fixture isn't so bad?

Yeh, I don't think its worth the -4. Lanzini has never been anything too special FPL wise imo, gets the odd assist here and there but it'd be a gamble to take a -4 on it imo especially since Perez has BOU next. The next 2 fixtures do look great for WHU and I've looked at getting him in also but opted for Haller instead. There's F Anderson otherwise? Idk if he's really any better but certainly another option.

It will lock me out of getting Maddison next week if I don't do it now. Got exact money to own them both.

        Current team:-

        Pope (Mcgovern)
        AWB, VVD, Digne, (Lund), (Gibson)
        Sterling, DeBruyne, Salah, Perez, Trossard
        Barnes, Pukki, (Greenwood)

    What to do?

    A) Martial + Jota > Mount + Haller (-4)
    B) Martial > Mount and bring in Haller/Barne/other next week
    C) Save FT and asses next week

just seen your comment above and have the same thoughts as you ... itchy fingers though cos i like those arsenal fixtures and auba always gets involved ... but will probably stick with Kane for now.

Only at 100.5, been avoiding early transfers and its working well so far as I'm at 170k ish. Whether it'll work out in the long run with the lower TV idk.

Spent transfers on cheap players and kept my premiums. Cumulative of -16 now, but I'm done with squad-building hits after GW4 and would focus on injuries and other stuff instead with FTs

Template will only change every week. Make sure you are not point chasing by taking too much squad building hits

Oh I see. You had Martial and Lundstram from the start and grabbed Pukki and Kelly in time to catch their price rises

              5 years, 25 days ago

Exactly. Saw the failure in my Locadia punt + risks of a LIV D double-up with Alisson injured, and took the GW1 hit for Pukki after watching the Pool game

Didn't see many clean sheets coming for Montoya from GW2; realized I could trust Lund as a starter so could go down to a fellow 4.0 as second sub; Perez failed every form of tests so far and Mount was nailed (which I didn't expect in preseason); Wilson had been ticking along with fantasy assists and the team's attack didn't seem to click. This with Barnes' streak since Jan 2019 informed the -8: Montoya, Perez, Wilson to Kelly, Mount, Barnes

GW4: Trossard to Cantwell, Gallagher to Haller. 2.0m ITB left to move Martial to Pepe in GW5. Barnes will come off the bench for Martial if he doesn't play GW4

Same here , year in and year out many high finishers have low TVs
Easier with high tv but with low tv you just have to be more creative. bargains appear throughout the season

Just gonna make some predictions for the next few GW's. Just to look back and see how right or wrong I was:

    - Auba will become too hard to ignore. Double digit hauls coming up.
    - Double Liverpool defence will become great again.
    - Ayew will become a viable 5.0 enabler
    - SONNNNNNN
    - Mane to out perform Salah causing more Mane vs Salah debates.

I fancy TAA and Robertson to do very well against Newcastle in GW5.

      Auba will get injured
      Liverpool will continue to concede
      Ayew joking
      I will give you Son
Mane v Salah no debates needed 1m is only small and it’s all to do with preference...3.5m last year was way to big price difference
