Vardy starts as Leicester continue their push for a Champions League place

The last of four Premier League matches to take place on Sunday sees Leicester City head south to take on relegation-threatened Bournemouth.

Kick-off at the Vitality Stadium is at 19:00 BST.

Jamie Vardy (£9.8m) was the second-most-bought Fantasy Premier League asset of Gameweek 35+ and he starts this evening, with his non-involvement in training on Friday proving to be a lot of fuss about nothing.

Vardy has three goals in his last two starts and comes up against a Bournemouth side who had the worst post-restart defensive record before this weekend.

The Cherries did register their first clean sheet of 2020 on Thursday evening, however, holding Spurs to a goalless draw.

It’s wins and not draws that Howe’s troops need, with the south coast club six points adrift of safety with just four matches to play.

The Foxes sit fourth in the Premier League table, meanwhile, with only two points separating the two sides immediately above and below then.

Brendan Rodgers has made one change to his starting XI that featured in the midweek draw with Arsenal, with defender Christian Fuchs (£4.2m) brought in to replace Ryan Bennett (£4.8m).

Harvey Barnes (£5.9m) is once again among the substitutes.

Bournemouth have made three changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Tottenham, with Arnaut Danjuma (£5.8m), Dominic Solanke (£5.1m) and Jack Stacey coming into Howe’s starting XI.

Junior Stanislas (£5.8m) drops to the bench, while Joshua King (£6.1m) and Adam Smith (£4.3m) miss out through injury.

The reverse fixture between these two sides ended 3-1 to Leicester back in Gameweek 4, with Vardy involved in all three of his club’s goals and emerging with a 16-point haul.

Bournemouth XI: Ramsdale, Stacey, Ake, Kelly, Rico, Brooks, Gosling, Lerma, Danjuma, Solanke, C Wilson.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Fuchs, Soyuncu, Evans, Justin, Albrighton, Tielemans, Ndidi, Perez, Iheanacho, Vardy.

I apologise for any FPL whining I've ever done. My ML rival free hitted this week, and brought in Schmeichel, Justin and Vardy (captain). He also has Sterling so my lead has been wiped out, but at 60 minutes I was sh_tting bricks and didn't dare look at the LiveFPL score.

The FPL gods appear to be smiling down for once!

I had an insurance bet for Vardy to score anytime at 10/11, and annoyingly, had 8/1 on him to score within 20 minutes. I'll certainly take the former and live to bet another day!

    City assets talk to me...

    I have Sterling and KDB...

Thinking of maybe bringing in a defender this week ? Best chance to avoid rotation... But even Laporte is getting rotated...

what other city asset would you bring in or would you bother with massive rotation expected next gameweek ? .................

it's not a "complete lottery", it's educated guesses. I would absolutely do the transfer. Even if he doesn't start I'd fancy Jesus for 15 minutes v bournemouth rather than vardy for 90 (or even 180) minutes vs sheffield.

People talk about "Pep roulette" but that suggests it's purely random, and it obviously isn't. Let's get some guesses on City's line-up.

I think he'd prioritize the arsenal game (obv), so it will be one eye on what's coming rather than what's been (considering minutes) and in the Arsenal game I'd reckon his preferred team (out of the offensive options) would be:

KDB, Sterling, Jesus, Mahrez, Fernandinho (or Rodrigo if he's playing CB), and for the last spot Gundogan or David Silva.

With that in mind I would guess starters vs bournemouth are:

Foden, Sterling, Jesus, Bernardo and D Silva. KDB could take one of the Silva's place.

    What does everyone else think?

I think the term 'Pep roulette' more describes how the team selection is apparently random, not in the literal sense.

      1. PrettyDick
        • 6 Years
        4 years, 3 months ago

I get that, and maybe I was unclear since english isn't my first language but that was my point really. That it isn't apparently random. We are often able to correctly assume a lot of the starters (for instance Sterling this GW, KDB after he was benched, Foden next game (?) etc)

        1. teddypicker
          • 15 Years
          4 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, the best we can do is make an educated guess but with Pep having such a large squad, no one knows for sure.

For me, I think Mahrez will get benched having got 90mins last game and him being pretty important for the Arsenal game.
