FPL Gameweek 2 round-up: Sunday’s goals, assists, bonus and injuries

Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) opened his account for Chelsea and Mason Greenwood (£7.5m) scored his second goal of the season on a busy Sunday of Premier League football.

However, it was a day to forget for those who handed Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m) the armband, as the Portuguese returned a solitary Fantasy Premier League (FPL) point at Southampton.

Our usual, more detailed Scout Notes will follow for all of today’s games but in the meantime, our long-dormant Scoreboard series rounds up the key goings-on.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL, Ragabolly’s excellent and ever-expanding website, and our own Premium Members Area.

GOALS, ASSISTS AND PROJECTED BONUS

KEY FPL TAKEAWAYS

  • Paul Pogba (£7.6m) provided another assist, his fifth of the season, as he continued in an advanced role at St. Mary’s Stadium. In fact, no player on the pitch had more penalty area touches (9) than the Frenchman today.
  • Budget defender Tino Livramento (£4.0m) started again for Southampton, keeping Kyle Walker-Peters (£5.0m) on the bench. Encouragingly for his owners, Walker-Peters replaced left-back Romain Perraud (£5.0m) on 82 minutes, with the former Chelsea man seeing out the full 90 ahead of next week’s visit to Newcastle United.
  • Dele Alli (£6.5m) scored his first league goal in 17 months as Nuno Espirito Santo made a winning return to Molinuex. Surprisingly, it came from the penalty spot, having won it himself after being brought down by Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa (£5.0m). With Harry Kane (£12.4m) arriving off the bench in the second-half, it’s debatable exactly how important this development actually is, but it’s certainly something worth monitoring in the coming weeks.
  • It is now back-to-back clean sheets for Spurs, with Hugo Lloris (£5.5m) collected maximum bonus on both occasions. The Frenchman has already made 10 saves this season, a total no other goalkeeper can beat.
  • Despite two losses on the bounce for Wolves, today’s performance was encouraging, with Nelson Semedo (£5.0m) particularly lively in the final-third. However, his return to Bruno Lage’s starting XI meant that £4.0m option, Ki-Jana Hoever, dropped to the bench.
  • Reece James‘ (£5.5m) 18-point FPL haul was the biggest of his career to date, with Thomas Tuchel confirming after the match that the wing-back was fine after his collision with Nuno Taveres (£4.5m).
  • Lukaku marked his return to Chelsea with a goal after just 15 minutes and went to to register eight shots, with seven of those arriving in the box. Next up for the Belgian is Liverpool (a), Aston Villa (h) and Spurs (a).
  • Spurs and Chelsea joined Brentford and Liverpool as the only sides with two Premier League clean sheets to their name so far this season.

INJURY WATCH

Son Heung-min (£10.0m) left the pre-match warm up prematurely, but came out for the first-half as expected and featured for 72 minutes.

Having been asked after the game how he was, Nuno said:

“I’m sorry I cannot answer that. For now he’s alright. In the warm-up he had a strange feeling but he was ok to play. I don’t know. Let’s assess him. I didn’t realise. I’m sorry.”

Team-mate Cristian Romero (£5.0m) missed out on the matchday squad as a precaution with a minor knee injury suffered in the UEFA Europa Conference League defeat at Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday night.

Ben White (£4.5m) was missing for Arsenal after testing positive for Covid, while during the match, Kieran Tierney (£5.0m) limped off on 65 minutes with what appeared to be an ankle issue.

At Chelsea, N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.4m) both came off the bench in the second-half after being injured in the UEFA Super Cup.

    Thoughts on this guys:-

    Sanchez (Steele)
    TAA Shaw Tsimikas (Amartey White)
    Salah Bruno Barnes Rahpina (Brownhill)
    Ings Antonio Toney

Have £1.5 ITB and want to do Toney > DCL but I'm £0.1 short.....suggestions please.

Team looks good. Safest move would be to get another 8.0 or 7.5 striker assuming you don't have 2 free transfers, otherwise, you'd have to wait on Tsimikas price rise then sell him for a 4.0 like livramento and then upgrade toney to DCL. But hope DCL doesn't rise soon to 8.2

The eternal dilemma. Can depend on whether you have exact money or not. I can get Lukaku (for a hit) and have 0.9m left over. So I can wait a bit. If it was exact money, I might move today.

    Morning everyone.

    Sanchez,Gunn
    TAA,Tsimikas,Digne,Shaw,Veltman
    Salah,Bruno,Harrison,Sarr,Mahrez

    0.5 ITB & 2 FTs

    A) Shaw/Digne, Mahrez & Toney > Lukaku, Gray & 4.5 def (-4)
    B) Digne/Shaw , Mahrez > Son & 5m Mid for free?

    Cheers

      v similar quandry myself.
Whatever I do would cost me -4 so i might just hold for a week and risk Mahrez in thte Pep roulette but of the two for you I'd go Son and save the -4.

      I was thinking
Mahrez ->Son and Toney -> Dennis maybe or someone 6M or less and taking the -4
( i have no FT but 0.5 in the bank as I dumped Targett for Pinnock in GW2))

but I might just wait til after the international break, see who comes back safely and do major surgery then to get Lukaku in.

It’s time to roll a spare FT, not make any sudden moves (like selling Salah) and assess later.

I think a lot of people are going to panic WC in week four after after poor decisions this week.

and that's why he's been first subbed the last two weeks and at ht yesterday.

Even if he is, he plays for Southampton. Surely there are better transfers people can be making. He's probably a solid pick on wildcard as a 4th/5th defender, but that's it.

He's a pre-WC bencher who is currently playing and not falling in price, so why worry? If he turns out to be the next Bale/Coleman you are in on the ground floor, if not, he's gone soon enough

90 twice so far is very promising. There's just so many ways for him in the line-up - for easier games, Pogba can shift deeper and Greenwood goes left or right even if Cavani up top. He'll never be 100%, but I think he's got a very solid chance at a run while he's in form and Rashford is out.

Also think Cavani will come back as a sub before starting, and maybe play in the UCL as a priority at first.

Pogba going deeper is sacrificing his true potential, Ole won't make that mistake again if he's smart. Pogba should nail that spot.

Ole believes in rotation and flexibility, there is no player in the front 4 who is nailed in their spot other than Bruno.

We also can't over-rely on Pog due to the contract situation.

    THE LORD HAS RISEN

Lundstram is dead; long live Livramento!

He's the successor in that he's not only a 4m defender, but he's very attacking and might play mostly in midfield. I reckon he'll be nailed too.
However, I don't see him being as prolific from a FPL perspective as Lundstram. I think if you want a 4m defender in your squad, you'll not get better, but I wouldn't be starting him regularly.

I was going to do the predictable Tsimi to Livra, but I figured I can afford the wholly-overlooked 5m Matip, and he should be good for over 50% CS and the odd chance from corners - so long as he stays fit, of course. I'd be starting Matip; I wouldn't with Livra. So you're all welcome to him and good luck!

I got Duffy's points this week, and I'm not bringing in Livra unless on a later wildcard, so I'm hoping Duffy keeps hauling. But it doesn't make him a LORD, as he's still a defender, is my point.

Anyone else got 2 FT but have no idea what to do?

Mahrez was originally my plan to downgrade but after scoring and getting a rest I can see him playing v Arsenal who are terrible anyway so don’t want to take him out

Don’t want to remove Ings for DCL, and I think I want to keep white as they have decent fixtures after IB (Norwich at home)

The only move is to remove Tsmikas to duffy (if he goes up in price)

Then with the 1M upgrade Tsmikas to Matip/Reguillom is a possibility come to think of it - I just know as soon as i take Mahrez out he’s gonna bang I don’t know why I have him he brings me pain every year

Raph is well worth the 0.5 extra IMO.

last year Harrison was just as good though... or do the stats really favour Raph

If Raph was 8/7.5m I think there’s an argument but he’s the most underpriced asset in the game I think he’s 100% worth 0.5 extra.

Think Raph is the way to go. I know Harrison had a good end to last season, but so far in those 2 games this season, Raphina has looked the better asset to own, even if he is £0.5 more expensive

I doubt it - Rapha looks a step up from last season

I an in the same boat.
      I think H is in no-mans land.
My intention is either downgrade to Dallas or upgrade to Raphina.

But probably not until weeks 5 or 6 when i expect to do a WC restructure.

C next week. If you want to move a transfer this week I’d look at Jota out.

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards.
Obvious move would be to greenwood. But could go down to a 5.5/6 to give me some cash for an upgrade elsewhere

      What's the rush?

He's in form, doubt hanging over Salah and Firmino minutes, for now focus on someone else.

2 in 2, not sure why you'd want to get rid yet..

Spurs were tempting however Son is expensive while Bergwijn may be a Adama case - no end product with good stats

I’ve had Son since GW1. I was absolutely gutted to not see him take the pen, do you think Dele only took it as he won it? Massively dents Sons appeal if he isnt on pens.

Alli said in an interview that Nuno decides the taker before games, like in Wolves. So if Kane plays it's between the 3 i think.

Oh really? Thanks for the info mate. So if Kane moves, its a toss up pre-match by Nuno on who he fancies the taker to be?

How did Adam Armstrong look yesterday? I'm considering bringing him in for Toney, as I have nowhere else I need to make a move and it'd at least free up 0.5 with some good fixtures coming in the Autumn.

    Sanchez
    TAA Shaw Coufal
    Salah Bruno Grealish Raph
    Antonio Ings Toney

    Foster Amartey Tsimikas Gilmour

2 FTs, anything to clean up? Not sure I’d want to waste a transfer!

I'd go Coufal to a Spurs 4.5 defender, goves you time to assess the 4.0 defender situation and upgrade Tsimi next week.

    Morning guys,

Ings + Mahrez > Lukaku + Mbeumo for free?

Need to do tonight before Lukaku's price rise. Feels a bit wrong kicking Ings out given that he still has a plum fixture in 3...

DCL Antonio + Vardy this week is the play. DCL Antonio Lukaku from week 4

Agree. Lukaku comes in for Bruno/Salah by having Jota or Greenwood instead for those sides.

This. Bruno out for me I think. Helps that I’ve already got Greenwood

Still reckon the WC this week is viable (as i said here before yesterdays games) and will allow similar team (+ catching prices) come week 7 and 8
The upside is the team is as best as can be to target week 3+4.

    Week 3 if id WC
    Sanchez
    Reguillon James Periera (Duffy, Livramento)
    Son Bruno Greenwood Barnes* (Biss)
    DCL Vardy* Antonio
*To Sarr + Lukaku week 4

Can easily be worked to some City and Salah in coming weeks.

Anyone explain how White went from -99% and certain to drop last night to -54% today and Greenwood who was nowhere near rising went up!? People keep having a go at me for saying they are fixed but come on!

    1. FPL_trail_runner
      • 4 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

Greenwood was close to 93% when i last checked so within margin

The White one may be related to his injury status now in the game

      1. WVA
        • 8 Years

He didn't have that injury status last night
        Players on 93 don't rise

resets to 0% with flag changes is probably what did it. A very annoying bit of extra randomness the game does not need

      1. WVA
        • 8 Years

He wasn't flagged yesterday unless they did it at midnight just before his price change which I doubt or if they did is very unfair
