Scoutcast #384 – Is it time to move for Lukaku in FPL?

Andy and Seb tackle the key challenges facing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers ahead of Gameweek 3.

The pair are without regular co-host Joe this week but all the usual favourite segments remain in tact, including the Gameweek review, team plans, fixture analysis, transfer market trends and differentials.

Seb also takes his regular look at the biggest underachievers and overperformers according to the statistics.

How “essential” Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) is comes up for debate, as does the question about whether non-owners can continue to ignore Said Benrahma (£6.2m).

What to do with the likes of Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) is also pondered.

The Scoutcast’s management of a veteran Fantasy manager’s side, who has had to dip out of this campaign for mental health reasons, continues. With a top 100 finish last season, the pressure is truly on to maintain his strong record.

Chilwell at 5.8 with no IB football over the break will be hard to resist if he comes back into the side this weekend

      Tasty option.

Want to see how their UCL fixtures pan out. Pot 2 is very tough, if they play a pot 2 team in between GW4 & 5 it'll be more Tuchel tinkering...

    Can't decide of two options:
This is the team at the moment
    Sanchez (Foster)
    Shaw Tsimikas TAA Ayling White
    Salah Bruno Raphinha Benrahma
    Ings Antonio (Perica)

    I can either A:
Swap out Tsimikas and get in Reguillon for free and have 1.5 itb
    Or B:
Swap out Smith Rowe and Perica for Gilmour (Nor) and DCL for a hit.

The first one will lock me in for a 352 or 442 at least untill gameweek 7.

    What's your thoughts?

13m minimum I'd imagine. I'd need to see how regularly he'd play, let's let's honest if he goes it's because both he and the club are desperate for the CL primarily and in spite of his excellent fitness he won't be able for the rigours of every match in the PL

I know everyone here will shut me down and laugh at me but here's some food for thought on Antonio.

Newcastle played 5 at the back, the two wingbacks are full on wingers. Two of their starting CBs are in because of injury. They played gung ho at home in front of the fans and left themselves open to the counter. A weak defence leaving themselves open to the counter against a counter attacking side. And it wasn't a penalty which changed the game and made Newcastle chase it even more.

Leicester game was a snoozefest 1st half. Antonio was looking a little bit ponderous and wasteful. Leicester goes down to 10 on 40mins and he does all his damage in the 2nd half. Against another backline with key players missing. Comments at half time were generally that Antonio looked bad and wasteful.

Now he goes to play Palace. Unlike Newcastle, Palace are likely to sit back and force West Ham to create. And if they keep 10 on the pitch they should be more resilient than Leicester. This is where we MAY see the hammers falter. It will be really interesting to see how they perform.

I would not be at all surprised to see this game as a U1.5 goal scoreline, with Palace perhaps surprising a few.

A great player to own yes, but I would caution against captaincy this week. But good luck to those who do

That’s the thing, isn’t it? Decisions like that could make or break a season, ultimately. I think I’ll see how he gets on this weekend. The good ol’ eye test. No harm in keeping him until GW5. That’ll be when I move for Bamford, 100%. Whether it’ll be Ings or Antonio who gets the chop, I do not know.

Got to be a Newcastle win. They were very unlucky not to get anything against Villa. Wilson will be right up for it. 2-0, maybe 3-0. I can’t see a Southampton goal coming from anywhere, to be honest.

Teams are getting more or less template, at the minute, in my mini-league. Tempted to drop Ings for Bamford this week, what with Burnley in town, to try and get ahead of the curve a bit. Surely this is madness? Somebody talk me out of it.

    1. TheTinman
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 2 months ago

Teams will change from template soon. With rises and falls you will see some players go early on transfers and other Miss out due to waiting. That will force players down different paths. Some will blow their wildcards soon. Some players will forget to change their teams. Lukaku and Kane in the game now, more options. KDB and potentially CR7 soon. The template will faulted soon enough

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. Plus, I don’t fancy any big numbers from him against Liverpool. I won my mini-league last year on decisions like this, because they can often pay off, but if Ings has a haul at Brentford I’d be fuming. That’s the risk, I suppose. Haha!

Best 4.5m striker? Switching to 3-5-2 by doing Toney to Benrahma.

Totally doesn't matter. Pick the one with least ownership

The one with the lowest ownership as it's been proved that he is the least likely to fall in price

Is there not a more direct way to get to the place you want to be? I bet there is, take it.

Nah, midfield is Salah, Bruno, Greenwood and Raphinha. Can't trade them yet.

When there are playing forwards for 5m, it does seem daft.

Who's a better option to play for this weekend?

    a) Harrison
    b) Mbuemo
    c) Duffy

Harrison, I would have thought. Though for that price you could get Bissouma in, who has looked very lively. Save some money too.
