Is it crazy that I’m still not sure about Dasilva? Forget the fact that todays goal was fluky. Brentford have a deep squad and rotate heavily. Surely Damsgaard threatens his place?

With that in mind, I’m trying to pick a combination of 4.5ish defender (playing) and 4.5ish midfielder (1/2 bench). Budget is 9.0

    A: Tomiyasu and Dasilva
    B: Dunk and Colback
    C: Dunk and Lavia
    D: White/Saliba and Colback
    E: White/Saliba and Lavia

All you need is Neco and then two of Reed, Andreas or Lavia (and possibly Dasilva, but not sure he will start much) on your bench.

No need to over think this, just get starters on your bench that will give you one or two points when needed

Those are basically two different strategies. Do you want a big defence or a bigger attack? I think this call really comes down to personal preference. We know Robo will do well over the course of the season but a 4.5 forward is dead weight. However, with 5 subs this season perhaps we can afford that dead weight. Its really a 50/50 call I think.

A if the 4.5 is buried on your bench. B i the 4.5 is your 11th or 12th best players.

During Liverpool's low period in the 90's and early 2000's, did they ever drop as low as Man Utd have currently, in terms of quality, or more precisely lack of?

    1. noquarternt

About the same I think, they always seemed to have one or two players who were still excellent but the results just were way off Arsenal/Man U and then Chelsea.

I don't think Liverpool have ever been in as dire a position on and off the field as Utd are now in the PL.

Closest any of the established "big 6" (excluding City before the money came along) have been this bad was pre-Redknapp Spurs who had 2 points from 8 games

He must have listened to Neville's post game analysis where he compared Utd to Spurs and how they've progressed in the last 10 years with the new stadium, training facilities and getting Conte in.

Neville really was a broken man at the end of the game yesterday 🙂

    Which move?

[A] Rashford>Kulu, Robertson>5.0 defender (Dier, Mee, Walker, Ake or Cresswell?)

Is this a confirmed thing that a player can only rise in price once per gameweek?
Martinelli has about 580k NTI with 2 price rises.
Haaland has 1.14m NTI with only one price rise.

The 280k Wildcards can't account for the discrepancy

Not complaining I think this could be a good thing, if indeed it is a thing.

I doubt it. My understanding is that its always generally a bit tougher to get that 2nd rise compared to the first.

Yeah it's tougher, as in double or perhaps triple the first price rise threshold.
But the first rise in a GW is around 200k NTI. Haaland had close to 1 million NTI last week

It seems to depend also on the ownership & value of the player ... although no one at FPL towers will admit it or explain the price rise basis

Ownership % is definitely a factor. Often cheaper players with low ownership shoot up in price easier, maybe also because they are often easier to get in as well.

I'm not sold on the Da Silva hype......he didn't get into the box much and had one shot outside the area which the keeper should have saved. Will also need to start more consistently instead of starting every other game and coming on/off as a sub.

      Probably downgrade Cash to a 4.5 defender and get a decent 5.5 - 6.0 midfielder for (Neto/Bailey)

I don’t know about this game anymore. You spend weeks and hours on drafts and 2 absolute piss poor C decision have totally derailed my season already. See this week it wasn’t just going Haaland it was the reason why. I knew with that kinda opposition KDB would perform better but in the end I chickened out. Why. The fear of ownership and C. Disgusted with myself.

2 * 5 mil GW ranks . I appreciate your comment mate. But seriously I am close to been done on both sides. I make calls like no Salah and no Jesus and if it weren’t for unlucky C calls I could compete with their owners and be right up there. That’s what hurst most make actual “good” calls and still getting fked over.

    2fts and 0.5m. I'm away so haven't seen a kick this week.

Current thoughts are dias and bailey to peresic/ trippier / walker and rodrigo

    Ramsdale
    Taa robbo cancelo James dias
    Salah martinelli bailey (andreas reed)
    Haaland jesus (archer)

Dias seems a 6 point merchant so figure can go for someone with more upside so I can improve bailey. Any views? Thanks

Being a consistent 6 point merchant in defence isn't the worst thing.

That said, Dias to Walker (another 6 point merchant) to free up more funds to upgrade Bailey to up to a 6.5 could work as you have the transfers to spare. Alternatively if you can find a 5.5 gem in midfield to replace Bailey, then you don't have to move Dias and can roll a transfer

        Yeah - defo

The only 5.5m that springs to mind is aaronson - and I literally know nothing about him

Also want to use the 2fts this week - as I'm going to be totally offline Monday to Friday next week so think I should use them when I'm most able to engage

I'm secretly hoping Damsgaard at 5.5 becomes an option from gw4 onwards as he can be electric in a well organized team about to embark on a run of good fixtures.

Yeah seems an option - but also a bit of a punt. Guess they all are at that price. Which is why I like the idea of finding some cash for rodrigo

Mad that Spurs, City and Brentford have all scored 4 goals in a game this season and their main strikers Kane, Haaland and Toney have failed to score in any of them.

I'm thinking he might be a 'very good differential'. In a game where we need to break template captaincy picks to shoot up the ranks, he and Nunez have the ability to break that template.

To be fair he's not a bad option (despite the og yesterday) for a 4.5 defender playing for a good defence that will win more than they will lose. Also likely to get BPS for the duels he wins and interceptions etc

Fofana will be a better option though once he completes his move to Chelsea and no doubt these social media creators and influencers will be overhyping him as well

    6. Francescoli
      • 10 Years

Gets a lot of ball, great tackler and interceptor means he will always hoover up bonus points. Great option for 4.5.

4.5m defender starting at Arsenal. I guess its a bit like White last year but maybe with a slightly bigger upside? My thinking is he's no better than Dunk though due to possible rotation risk now that White could go back to CB.

Arteta has given Saliba assurances ahead of the World Cup otherwise he would have signed on with Marseille. He is locked into that Arsenal team.

His style of play is just made for the baps system.

Agree that Fofana could also be a good 4.5 option if he goes to Chelsea but for now I prefer Saliba.

    8. Hotdogs for Tea
      • 9 Years

The point though is there are lots of 4.5 options but they will all give you 110-120 points if you start them all season.

With the likes of City, Liverpool, James, other Arsenal choices or other attacking wing backs why drop down to a starting 4.5 defender anyway.

It's not so much that he is a decent 4.5, it's this 'must get' sentiment that is coming through and the use of a transfer on him in preference to other moves that I don't get, especially with Tomiyasu & Tierney back with White pushing for a place in the backline too

      Strange

      1. I Member
        • 9 Years

Exactly this. Not saying he's a poor pick, just don't understand the rush to get him in when there are so many good defensive options that most managers already own.

        1. Andy_Social
          • 12 Years
          2 years, 2 months ago

I think he's the best 4.5 option (subject to Fofana at Chelsea), but your alternative opinion is perfectly valid. What is not valid is insulting the intelligence of people who get him by suggesting their reasoning is cult-like or just mindlessly following someone on Twitter. Comments like that just show up the contemptuous attitude and lack of intelligence of the posters.

        2. Hotdogs for Tea
          • 9 Years

Yip, he will do a job in a FPL team but he isn't going to rip up any trees. It's all to do with the other options in comparison to him and why now there is all of a sudden a ground swell for him.

With Arsenal likely to score lots of goals and other defenders like Tomiyasu, Tierney and Zinchenko likely to chip in with assists & goals from time to time I can't see Saliba getting bonus points too often even when Arsenal get a clean sheet. Add in a 4 goal rout with the attackers spreading the bps around then the defenders are going to struggle to get bonus points.

          A strange priority imho

          1. Andy_Social
            • 12 Years
            2 years, 2 months ago

Nobody pays 4.5m "to rip up trees". For those who have 3 or 4 premium defenders and want a starter for less money, he offers outstanding value. I'd say many people have Jesus and Martinelli and don't see a third attacking option at equal value to those 2 so are going for a third Arsenal asset in defence. Could be 5m defender or Ramsdale, but saving 0.5 to mostly get the same number of points seems like a smart enough move to me.

          Yeah that's obv a major factor ...

It's just when people pull up random teams with off the wall picks that do well...it's like the lottery, just a random set of numbers out of millions of combinations that come up.

Equally there are millions of other off the wall teams that are ranked 7m to 8m

Is Kane going to pull down the pants of all those who sold him for Haaland and give the right old brace of a spanking

Probably. Will Neto do the same to his sellers next week?

History, Tottenham haven't scored a goal at Stamford Bridge since 2019 and haven't won a premier league game there since 2018

Historical evidence has its place, but the chaos theory is king.
In other words it means diddly squat.
I pay Zero homage to stats that are historical in regards to sporting events, however I do put more weight if it was in regard to political considerations.

The way Utd looked yesterday and considering the battering Liverpool gave them last season, it's hard to look beyond Salah

equally think arsenal will give bou a battering too though and i think captancy % will be tight next gw

best case scenario is they both go big but could be a massive swing if that doesn't happen

Of course. Weird that PSG would want to spend money on one. Sell the lot for buttons and play the kids.
