Salah has a tricky fixture but it's a lot of £££ to have on your bench. Probably Diaby as he played 90 mins, so did Watkins he scored a hatrick so will be buzzing!

Diaby or Watkins, Salah can return against every team and has returned last 4 out of 5 games against Newcastle (2 out of 3 games in 2022/2023 though which is more appropriate)

I've seen many predicted lineups for arsenal that have gab starting. Can anyone give me a sense of whether this is likely or not?

      50/50 in my book.
Losing two players for one position (Timber and Tomyasu) complicates matters. If Arteta keeps the same tactic, Kiwior can come in. However, if he starts Zinchenko, it will have a knock-on effect with the rest of the back line, which might be a Back 4 with Gabriel. Either option is quite feasible.
But it's worth also thinking 2 and 3 steps ahead. In GW4 Tommy will be available, and you're stuck with the same dilemma and risk of 1-point cameos.

We won't know for sure. Arsenal are unlikely to play with two inverted full-backs as it creates an imbalance. As Zinchenko is the only realistic option at left-back (Tierney and Tavares set to leave the club), it means Partey won't also be able to operate as an inverted right-back as Zinchenko will be the one to tuck into midfield. Logically, this should see White move across to right-back and Gabriel come in at centre-back to play alongside Zinchenko. I'm keeping Gabriel for one more week.

21-year-old midfielder Gabri Veiga is going to sign for Al Ahli. He was a summer target for clubs like Barcelona, PSG, Napoli, and some of the big six. What a waste of talent!

They refused to pay the €45M Sporting was asking for him. Ridiculous. And this season did the same thing, refused to pay €60M for Ugarte. Both incredible players that would have boosted Liverpool´s midfield 10 fold.

Their transfer strategy has been a shambles this year, if I was a pool fan I'd be fuming. I'm not sporting director or anything but maybe you should check if a player wants to join before bidding for them.

He's a fantastic player and made a huge mistake accepting being transfered to Wolves, a team clearly beneath his talent and ability. Hopefully that mistake will be corrected.

You'd have thought so, wonder who he'd 'replace' in the current team for city, Kovacic maybe. One thing is that I've noticed he can be a bit hot headed which I'm not sure pep will like

        1. El Presidente
          • 5 Years

That's not easy to predict tbh. He's not like Kovacic, he's not like Gundo, but I think he can play there. He's very fast, aggressive and not afraid of 1v1. He can tackle and he can score goals, but In this City team he could do 3 or 4 different positions. The position I think he really really excells is what we call the 8.5 in a midfield 3 where without the ball he's the 8 with the ball he's the 10 or even 2nd striker.

I think he's better in an attacking sense than Kova but probably not as good tactically and positioning wise. I think Pep is building his squad back up after losing Gundo Mahrez etc. Will be interesting to see Doku as well as I was under the impression he was a bit of a roadrunner. Could see him as a 17-18 sterling type player.

City haven't had any issues utilising the long ball when its been on in recent games and towards the end of last season. Fully went away from it after Sane and then Sterling left when they played with false/unnatural 9s but with Haaland there and his runs in behind (along with players like Ederson, Gvardiol and Dias who can play those passes from deep) they can definitely utilise it more now. Can definitely see Doku being used in that manner to stretch stubborn defences

I agree and I actually think this was a major factor in Arsenal signing Rice and Havertz after City bullied them at the Etihad last season. I think there's a big misconception with Pep and his style of football but a huge part of his philosophy is not conceding goals and the way City play now they are more than happy to physically dominate teams

Interesting about Havertz and Rice, I kind of forgot that City did that to Arsenal but I remember it now. Actually that first game at the Emirates comes to mind now where it was the first time I had seen City employ the long ball tactic, with a lot of high diagonal balls played to Haaland where he drifted slightly wide towards the right, and he absolutely bullied Gabriel and Saliba, I hadn't seen him play in such an aggressive manner for City before.

                  https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-guardiola-arsenal-reaction-26250846?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target

"Erling helps us a lot, one against one we play more long balls and he uses his power to keep the ball. We do it, first half they have one moment in the middle, we struggle a lot to control and that's why they were much better. Second half we were there."

I don't think it's just Haaland either. Rodri can bully most midfield and when you have a back four all 6ft+ also including Walker who's one of the fastest players I've seen and Akanji and now Gvardiol who are both extremely quick, It's so hard to break down that defence. I guarantee no forwards want to come up against them

Maybe not put it you off selling Watkins, but definitely make you question why you're removing Watkins for Jackson. What is it in Jackson that you've seen to ship for a relatively consistent and EPL proven striker like Watkins.

        Cheers both.

Its just Luton at home screams hatful, whereas Burnley away suggests tight game (although i'm probably thinking back to Dyche-era).
Also have Pedro, so any combination of

Watkins/Pedro -> Wissa/Jackson/Alvarez is on the table, with
Pau/Kabore -> Gusto as my back up just to avoid burning my transfer.

So the Burnley - Manchester United behind doors friendly resulted in a trashing.

    Burnley really said:

      Man United starting XI:

      Venki
      Jurado - Mengi - Evans - Fernandez
Van de Beek - McTominay - Hannibal
      Pellestri - Martial - Forson

      Before anybody starts flapping.

Poor Bruno can't even start for a friendly.

Plan to bench Richarlison this week before selling him. Any thoughts on if I should I play him ahead of any of Saliba, Shaw, Jota, Luis Diaz this game week? Thanks!

Which one do you reckon though? Jota might start on the bench. But 30 min plus injury time isn’t too different to 70 min of Richarlison without Maddison and in the early KO!

2 free transfers- which transfer/s would you spend one or both on
    A Pedro to Jackson
    B Bruno to Foden
    C Rashford to Foden
    D Martinelli to Foden

I think Pedro is an ok pick now that Enciso is out but he's the odd one out.
With Bruno you can wait one more game, as he had good chances to score, and Rashford and Martinelli are okay picks that need some time. Martinelli was involved in 2/3 of Arsenal's goals this season (assisting the assistert once but he made it happen).

"Enciso has suffered trauma to his left knee, in one of his club's training sessions" according to someone from the Paraguayan national team - Romano tweeted it too.

Given it was reported by the Paraguayan FA, my assumption would be that he's at least out for the next 3-4 weeks (given the international break after GW4). Have seen some reports saying it's a meniscus tear

Be wary of SOME content creators who:

    - Are telling you to buy players (that they already have in their team)

    - Warn you off selling players (that they have in their team)

    - Warn you off jumping too early on a player they don't have.

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)

Solution: ignore all content creators 😛

I must be naive as I’ve never thought about this. Are content creators those that have YouTube videos and that?

I like Sterling as a pick as it’s very much an old school on the pitch performance pick rather than a modern stat based one.
