The Weekend Team News

Arsene Wenger expects Laurent Koscielny to be available for Arsenal’s home game against Palace. Roberto Martinez has doubts over a quartet of players for Everton’s trip to Leicester. Loic Remy will be assessed prior to QPR’s opener with Hull, Sam Allardyce rules out Matt Jarvis for London derby with Spurs, while West Brom boss Alan Irvine confirms Joleon Lescott and James Morrison will miss the visit of Sunderland:

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he will be without his World Cup winning trio for the visit of Crystal Palace. The Gunners boss has suggested that Laurent Koscielny should be fit and available to face the Eagles, though, after the defender was subbed off in last week’s Community Shield win over City with an Achilles problem. Theo Walcott, David Ospina, Serge Gnabry and Ryo Miyaichi are all sidelined through injury, though Abou Diaby has returned to full training.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and new signing Christian Atsu will all be assessed before a decision is made on their availability for tomorrow’s visit to Leicester. The trio were all involved in the World Cup and have had a limited pre-season. Meanwhile, Seamus Coleman has returned to training after a hamstring injury, though Martinez concedes it’s still too early to tell whether the defender will be available for the weekend.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp remains hopeful that Loic Remy will be ready to feature against Hull, with the Frenchman expected to take part in training. Elsewhere Adel Taarabt seems likely to miss out, with Redknapp going on to say that the Moroccan isn’t yet fit having not participated in training at all during pre-season.

Matt Jarvis has been ruled out of the London Derby with Spurs through injury and joins Andy Carroll on the sidelines, confirms Allardyce. New signing Enner Valencia looks likely to miss out, with the Hammers boss “still waiting” on the Ecuadorian to get up to full fitness.

West Brom could hand a debut to summer signing Brown Ideye, with the Nigerian in contention to make the squad, for the home game against Sunderland, according to Alan Irvine. The Baggies boss though, has ruled out both James Morrison and Joleon Lescott, though, with both missing out through knee injuries.

Paul Lambert has confirmed Ron Vlaar will be available for Villa’s trip to Stoke. The Dutchman has played just 45 minutes of pre-season after featuring in the World Cup but his manager revealed he has “no worries” over the defender’s fitness levels for tomorrow’s match.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

1 - Excluding penalties, Crystal Palace only conceded one set piece goal in 26 Premier League games under Tony Pulis. Tuned.

I'm also considering Young. He's been one of the best players for united in the preseason, is cheap, nailed on and have the fixtures....but I also have Mata and Rooney. Is three united too much?

No, I'd have mixed feelings about it if I were a Pool fan. Doos loves him though.

But I would note that when he joined Barcelona last year, in one of his first few games, he became the first player in history to register 100% passing accuracy (well, since they started measuring it).

He was certainly very good for RVP when they were at Arsenal. And Pool need someone like him. He's only 26 so if it worked out, it would be a brilliant long-term fix for the CM problem.

Guys, whats your opinion on VERGINI from Sunderland?

He is 4.5 (same as PvA and O'Shea) but he has more attacking threat I think?

Depends if Hull play back three or back 4

If they play back 4 it's between him and chester

Guys, any advice on this sorry lot?

    De Gea / Gilks

    Cahill / Kolarov / Wisdom / Lovren / Ward

    Sigurdsson / Albrighton / Sterling / Ramsey / Mata

    Rooney / Costa / Bojan

Anything obvious I'm overlooking in terms of balance or players who won't rotate well?

Any and all comments taken on board and greatly appreciated.

Too much spent in defence, downgrade kolarov to 5.0 and upgrade albrighton to Young.

Man city have horrible opening fixtures

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Is Crystal Palace now a fantasy no-go zone?

Who is sticking with their assets like Puncheon and Ward. Who is bailing out and keeping a watching brief? Who is predicting relegation without their astute former boss at the helm.

definitely a good replacement for Puncheon for those looking to bail out.

Only reason I have got rid of my Palace cover (Speroni) is simply the unrest this may cause....

Ditching Ward myself. I think they'll manage to stay up but it depends on their new manager and if they manage to make any more signings, the squad isn't very strong and Pulis will be a big loss.

Personally I've got rid of Ward, I just think that stability will be lost, however, I do think Pulis has left an organizational legacy to Keith Millen, and until the next manager is instated I reckon we'll be fine.

I agree. I especially don't understand people 'loading up' on Arsenal players for their GW1 fixture.

On the other side of the coin, I want to take my captaincy off Bojan and put it on Ramsey.

I bailed out Ward within 30 seconds the news broke. Just cannot see any other manager in the game keeping the amount of clean sheets with that defence. Not to mention the knock on effect of any club losing their manager the day before a new season starts. I'm certainly avoiding them until further notice.

Probably ditching. The difference Pulis made when he joined last season, was ridiculous. So with him leaving in seemingly acrimonious circumstances is going to affect the players.

Steering clear for now. Ward could become caulker or clyne, punch could be snoddy, davis or a stretch to siggy, hendo, mutch

The managers being touted should keep them up but I don't expect much from them now. I am staying well clear until we know what to expect.

got called into work and just found out (made me miss the dead team deadline too!) whole team rebuild doen...ish. Given up on defence (chelsea or nothing) and bought silva. might be the man equivalent of retail therapy but i feel much better.

Currently have Young as my 5th mid, is he worth downgrading to allow other upgrades?

    A) Downgrade to Davis = Upgrade Luis -> Cahill/Terry
    B) Downgrade to Davis = Upgrade Jovetic -> Dzeko
    C) Downgrade to Marney = Upgrade both ^

    Thanks in advance!

I can't fit three big strikers in and be happy with the rest of my team.
So, I have two lovely teams one with bojan and one with dzeko....is bojan too much of a risk?

Still cant decide between sterling and Erik. Spurs good fixtures and Erik has more pts per min going on last season. But Sterling has confidence of world cup and now with Suarez away her will play a more prominent role.

    ??? please help
